Prologue
20 years earlier
“Johnny we can’t” Adriana said to her husband. “Adriana, we don’t have a chose the Marchetti’s wants blood and the only thing that will make them happy is Caterina’s blood. You want her safe or dead? That is the only two options we have.” “Of course, I want her safe but we can’t give her away she’s our flesh and blood, she’s your legacy.” Adriana went on. “She’s the last Capone left in Chicago.” “I know that Adriana but I want her to live I don’t want the Marchetti’s to get to her.” “But why do they want her dead?” “One of my men killed Marchetti’s youngest son so he wants blood.” “Oh my God no.” “Adriana, we need to move fast, I already got papers with other names for her.” “She won’t be a Capone anymore?” “No, they will find her that way. Think women we want her to live a long healthy and full life if she carries my name, they will kill her even before she’s put in foster care.” Adriana started to cry uncontrollable. “Can we see her? Can we keep tabs on her?” “No, we have to cut all ties Adriana everything, the Marchetti’s will be watching us, they will always watch us until they get their pay back.” “Can I pack her cloths?” “No, we have to take her like she is now.” “But Johnny she dirty.” “That is good, it won’t look like she’s from a wealthy family.” Just then Caterine came running into the kitchen “Daddy look look.” She said while holding a snail. “Oh, wow bambina.” Johnny said with tears in his eyes. He has to drop his only child his little bambina at a foster home because one of his men made a mistake know they want to kill my baby girl. It was like ripping my heart out of my chest. “Bambina you and me are going for a drive go say bye to mommy. Adrianna was crying uncontrollable, little Caterine held her mom around her neck and said “Don’t cry mom I won’t be gone long.” That made Adriana even cry more. “I love you little angel, always remember mommy loves you.” Johnny pulled Caterine away from her mom. “Love you to mom.” Caterine said as Johnny walked out the door with her. Caterine looked over her fathers, shoulder and waved to her mother.
20 years later.
I’m working in a bodega in the heart of Little Italy in Chicago, why Little Italy I have no idea but something draw me to Little Italy when I aged out of the system. Yes, I was in foster care, I had to move from foster care to foster care, I never knew why because I was a good behaved child but as I got older, I got rebellious, I started to suffer from abandonment issues, probable because my parents threw me away and then I had to jump from foster care to foster care. When I became a teenager, I did things for them to abandoned me, see I had control of when I had to leave at the age of 18, I decided to find a work any work and stay in an apartment with other people just to make sure I didn’t end up on the streets. That is why I’m working at the bodega; it’s minimal wage but at least I can pay my rent and some food.
When people ask me about my childhood there is just one memory I had before I was put in foster care and that is about a woman that was crying uncontrollable and telling me she will always love me. If that was real, I don’t know but I can remember that. But then again, I don’t think about that a lot, for some reason it makes me sad because I always had the thing of what if? What if it was true? Then it means I had someone that loved me it also means although they loved me, they gave me away and that just doesn’t make any sense at all. So, I rather not think about it. I mean it’s not like someone is going to fall from heaven, if there is even a heaven and come and help me or give me money for food for the days, I didn’t have money to buy even ramen or bread. Let’s be real that is the cheapest things to live off. I rather stay in reality and deal with the hand that was dealt to me. Which was everyone abandoned you sooner or later in life and you have to life with it.
For the past 2 months there where 4 guys that came into the bodega buying random stuff, for some reason I thought they were just checking me out, but that just couldn’t be true, I had brown hair with blond highlights which I did myself so it didn’t look to good and they on the other hand was over 6 feet with the most beautiful eyes and suits that was custom made for them. They actually looked out of place in the bodega but they where here every day not the same person but one of them and every time they ask me what my name is I mean it’s Lucy Smith how can you forget it, but it’s like they didn’t believe me and wanted to make sure I was telling the truth. I also thought that the 4 of them worked together I don’t know why I thought that but that is how it seemed.
Every night I walked to my apartment I was sure there was a car that was following me but I had no idea why so I shook it off, because come on I’m just me. Why would any one follow me? The only reason I could thought about was human trafficking and for some reason that didn’t bother me. If you grow up in the foster care system even human trafficking sounded better.

"Dani," he pressed. "Do you get me?"
"No, Austin, I don't," I admitted as I pulled my robe closed again and sat up. "You confuse me."
He dragged his hands down his face. "Tell me what's on your mind."
I sighed. "You're everything my parents warned me against. You're secretive, but you're also honest. I feel wholly protected by you, but then you scare me more than anyone I've ever known. You're a bad boy, but when I dated a so-called good one, he turned out to be the devil, so, yeah, I don't get you because you're not what I expected. You drive me crazier than anyone I've ever met, but then you make me feel complete. I'm feeling things I don't quite know how to process and that makes me want to run. I don't want to give up something that might be really, really good, but I also don't want to be stupid and fall for a boy just because he's super pretty and makes me come."

His hands were working on his belt. It came free of his pants with a violent yank. She collapsed back on her elbows, her mouth gaping open at the display. His face was a mask of sheer determination, his eyes were a dark gold swimming with heat and desire. His hands wrapped around her thighs and pulled her to the edge of the table. He glided his fingers up her thighs and hooked several around the inside of her panties. His knuckles brushed her dripping sex.
“You’re soaking wet, Genevieve. Tell me, was it me that made you this way or him?” his voice told her to be careful with her answer. His knuckles slid down through her folds and she threw her head back as she moaned. “Weakness?”
