Chapter 302

I stared at the box covered with silver and gold foil paper and shook my head in disbelief.

“You got me a gift to commemorate the day I threw up on you,” I said. He must be feeling guilty.

“It was the best day of my life.” Victor reached across the table and took my hand. “It was the day I met my fated mate, my best friend, and the love of my life.”

My lips quivered, and I began to feel guilty. I hadn’t realized that day had been a year ago today. So much had changed. I had changed.

“Open it,” Victor said.

“But I don’t have anything for you,” I objected.

He squeezed my hand. “I have you. That’s all I want.”

I gave him a weak smile and pulled my hand back so I could open Victor’s gift. But my hands were shaky, and it took me a moment to get the paper off.

When I saw what was beneath the wrapping paper, I began to laugh and cry at the same time.

It was a box from the jewelry store where Amy and I saw Chloe. I slowly opened the box, knowing what I would find inside.

Victor wasn’t cheating on me. The emerald and diamond necklace and earrings were for me. They were a gift to celebrate the day we met, which I had forgotten.

I felt like the biggest jerk in the world. How could I suspect Victor of cheating? Guilt washed over me, and I buried my face in my hands.

Victor came around the table and helped me to my feet. “Come and dance with me, my love. I want to hold you in my arms.”

I nodded and meekly allowed him to lead me to the dance floor.

We blended in with the other couples as we moved to the music.

“You don’t like your gift,” Victor said. “I wanted you to have emeralds because they match your eyes, but you can exchange them for whatever you like.”

I shook my head. “I love them. It’s just ….”

Victor held me tightly. “Tell me what’s wrong, sweetheart. You’ve been upset about something all day. I sensed it when we were on the phone.”

I had to tell Victor the truth even though my lack of trust in him might hurt him. I was hiding enough from him recently.

“Amy and I were in the jewelry store when Chloe bought the emerald necklace and earrings.”

His face fell. “I wanted them to be a surprise. Why were you in the jewelry store? Did you want something else?”

I shook my head. “No, the emeralds are beautiful.” He still didn't understand. “I saw Chloe try on the emerald necklace and earrings and then pay for them with your credit card.”

He looked more confused. “Yeah, I gave her my card and asked her to pick them up while I was in a meeting.”

I felt even more stupid and guilty. “It sounds reasonable to me now that you would have an assistant pick up a gift for me, but when I saw her wearing the necklace and then paying for it with your card, I thought ….”

He finished my sentence. “You thought I gave her my credit card to buy herself expensive jewelry.”

“Yes, I’m sorry,” I said.

“You’re jealous of her, aren’t you?” he asked.

“Very,” I admitted.

Victor chuckled. “I’m glad you care enough to be this jealous. But Daisy, I would never betray you. I love you too much.”

“I know you do,” I said. “I’m ashamed that I didn’t trust you.”

“Don’t be ashamed. I understand why you thought what you did,” he said. “Chloe should have had enough sense to tell me you were at the jewelry store.”

He spun me across the floor and pulled me back into his arms as we smiled into each other’s eyes.

“From now on, we should tell each other exactly what’s on our minds,” he said.

I nodded, thinking of the secret I was keeping from him.

“Let’s forget about what happened today and celebrate our anniversary,” he whispered into my ear. “I love you, Daisy, and when we get home, I’m going to show you how much.”

I pressed myself against his body and smiled. “I can’t wait.”

Victor’s lips brushed my ear as he spoke, sending shivers throughout my body. “Then let’s go back to our table, eat a delicious dinner, and go home where we can be alone.”

I agreed, and we returned to our table to eat steak and lobster. After we were finished, we went outside and claimed Victor’s car from the valet.

We drove back to his apartment, anticipating a joyous and erotic evening. We were so eager for each other that as soon as Victor pulled into the garage and the garage door closed, we began to kiss madly in the car.

He broke away and began unbuttoning the top of my dress. “How could I touch another woman when my desire for you overwhelms me each time we are together.”

“You are the most incredible man I’ve ever met,” I said. “I can’t lose you. There will never be another man fit to take your place.”

“My beautiful Daisy,” Victor said as he bared me to my waist. “You don’t need to worry. I will love you forever.”

I moaned with delight when his hands covered my breasts. Searching with my left hand, I found his swollen manhood and caressed it until he groaned.

How I wanted him already, and I sensed he felt the same way.

Giving me a grin, he got out of the car and came to my side of the Lamborghini to help me out of the passenger door. He let my dress fall to the garage floor and pulled off his jacket and shirt.

Our mouths met again in a flurry of passion as we made our way to the front of the car, shedding the rest of our clothes along the way.

As we stood in front of the Lamborghini, Victor bent at the waist and began to love my breasts with his mouth. The pleasurable sensations racing throughout my body took my breath away.

“Yes,” I hissed as I tangled my fingers in his hair.

He stood and kissed me again. “You excite me more than any other woman. Can you feel it?”

“I can,” I replied, my voice husky with passion. “Take me now, my darling.”

Picking me up, Victor placed me on the hood of his car. I opened my legs, and he slipped inside my body, making us both moan with delight.

“Oh, Daisy, my love,” he panted as he made love to me. “I’ll never get enough of your exquisite body. Never.”

I matched his movements, and our passion grew even more potent. We hovered on the brink of total fulfillment until I thought I would go mad.

Faster and faster, we moved together. The delightful sensations running through us kept building until we exploded in a climax that made us both cry out in ecstasy.

He collapsed on top of me while we caught our breath.

“You’ve really forgiven me,” I asked.

“There’s nothing to forgive,” he insisted. “It was an understandable misunderstanding. Plus, you’ve got to be stressing about starting classes at Frampton U the day after tomorrow.”

“Yeah, it’s been in my mind,” I admitted. “What if I flunk out?”

“There’s no chance of that,” Victor assured me. “You are the best student ever. I've never known anyone who could master something new as quickly as you.”

We got up from the hood of the Lamborghini and began to gather our clothes.

“I hope we didn't dent your hood,” I teased.

“If we did, it was worth it,” he assured me.

I giggled. “You just want a new car.”

“It’s soon time to trade this one in before its value drops,”

Victor admitted.

I threw back my head and laughed. “I knew it. What are you getting next?”

“I’m not sure,” he replied. “Do you want to come along when I’m ready to do test drives?”

“Absolutely,” I said.

We went upstairs and jumped into the shower together. It was good to feel close to the man I loved. I would never doubt him again.

And after Alex and Cassidy returned from their trip, I would never keep anything from him again.

“What are you thinking about, my love?” he asked.

“Starting college,” I lied.

“You’re going to do great,” Victor assured me as he pulled me into his arms again. “You’ll see.”
