Shadow Goddess
Chapter 1
Kassandra PoV
A loud knock on the door made my eyes snap open, and I flinched from the bright light that filtered through the blinds.
"Darling, are you awake?" Mom’s voice came.
"I am now," I mumbled, sitting up and ruffling my long blond locks.
"Well, hurry up! It’s your first day back at University!"
Like seriously I don’t get why dad was pushing me to go today, I mean, winter break was in a week's time, I could have started after…
"Yeah, yeah," I mumbled, kicking the bedding off.
"It’s yes."
I rolled my eyes.
"Of course," I said sarcastically, hearing moms’ footsteps receding.
I quickly rushed to get ready, knowing I was going to be late if I didn’t hurry.
Twenty minutes later, I was ready in a pair of good American jeans that hugged my curvy hips and ass perfectly, a cropped top and an oversized denim jacket with Converse sneakers. Finishing with a dash of makeup and fragrance, I ran down the stairs and straight into the kitchen of our huge mansion.
"Morning, ladies and gentlemen." I said, whacking my brother Austin over the head.
"Brat."
"You love me." I said.
He tried kicking my ass but I skipped around him, flicking his forehead with one of my acrylics.
My elder sister Joana gave me a small smile, she was the perfect daughter, from her sleek sophisticated fashion sense, to her reputation and to how helpful with everything. She was twenty four and worked down at dads office with him.
"Good morning, madam, where are you off to in ripped jeans and a cropped top?" Mom asked.
"Clubbing mom," I said, rolling my eyes. Seriously, I was nineteen and there was nothing wrong with what I was wearing.
Having been away from home for the last three years, I had forgotten how strict mom was when it came to etiquette and presentation. After all, I was the mayor’s daughter and she loved to say I had a reputation to uphold.
My twin Liana, poked her eyes out at me from behind Mom. I stuck my tongue out at her.
"Kassandra" Mom scolded her ginger hair styled perfectly.
"Mom she’s joking." Liana added. Like me, she had green eyes and blond hair, but apart from that, we were pretty different.
I was the confident, outgoing one and she was the introvert. Liana had suffered with depression, anxiety and other mental health issues over the last few years, about five years ago she had been different, then for some reason she just changed. Even now as she sat there clutching her mug of green tea, I could see the exhaustion on her face, the bags under her eyes that she hid with makeup and the fake smile that crossed her face.
Did anyone else notice it? Or was it just me because I was her twin?
Just then, Dad entered, holding the newspaper.
"Aren’t you joining us?" He asked, going over to Mom and kissing her lips.
"Yes I am." I said, taking a seat next to Austin, I looked over his shoulder, trying to read his messages, only for him to turn his phone away.
"Seriously?"
"Hey, what have you got to hide?" I asked him.
Austin was two years older than I was. Like me and Liana, he was blond with green eyes, and he was what every girl at school called a "lady killer." I was sure he had slept with most of them. Him and his jerk of a best friend.
"So, how are the party preps coming along?" Austin asked, slipping his phone into the pocket of his leather jacket.
Weird. What was he hiding?
I shook my head, helping myself to breakfast.
"Preparations are all done, and I'm glad to say they came along without a clinch." Mom said proudly. “Joana has been a gem.”
“She always is one.” Austin added, a slight mocking tone clear in his voice.
How could I forget, the new year’s eve party… A party that all the high officials and top families of the city would come to, including the Alpha’s family… My stomach twisted at that thought. Although we were on good terms with werewolves, their power and dominating nature still made me uncomfortable. It scared me that so many people didn’t even know the truth that was happening in this city.
Dad may be the mayor of the city, but we all knew who really ran the town. Only the higher ups of the city really knew what lived amongst us and roamed the streets at night. I had only found out shortly before I was sent off to NYC. That memory made me shudder, and I pushed it aside.
The Aldino family. Speaking of… Their eldest son, Xander, was Austin’s best friend, and if Austin was a fuck boy, Xander was the king of all fuck boys.
"Well, that’s good," Austin said, "I love parties."
"Oh, I wonder why." I remarked.
So he could get a few girls to spread their legs in a matter of hours… gross.
"Hmm? You usually hate going to them." Dad said suspiciously, narrowing his eyes at his one and only son.
Although Austin lived at home half the time, he did have his own place. The only reason he was here was because a clean bed, washed clothes, and food were guaranteed.
Speaking of that, I needed to break it to them that I had gotten my own place too, when the time was right, of course. I didn’t want Dad to blow a gasket.
"Bradley, are all of the Black Shadow Pack members going to be there?" Mom asked, trying to remain smooth, but like many, she feared the power the werewolves held.
"Not all, but most… Jean keep a good link with them. You know Alpha Adonis is a good friend of mine, so like always, treat them well."
I scoffed quietly rolling my eyes, ‘friend’ yeah, he was just the one pulling the strings from the shadows…
"Something to say, Kassandra?" Dad asked sharply.
"No, not really." I shrugged.
"Xander will also be there. Just stay away from him." Dad said curtly.
"Dad he isn’t that bad." Austin said with a smirk.
"I know… I also know how he is with women." Dad said curtly.
I smirked.
"The precious future Alpha." I mocked. "I guess we can’t all be innocent like me." I batted my eyelashes, making Liana burst out laughing.
"I feel you have done a lot more than I know," Dad said, looking at me suspiciously.
I stood up, smirking.
"What you don’t know, won’t hurt." I said, leaning over and patting dad’s shoulder.
My siblings simply suppressed their smirks. I definitely wasn’t a good girl, but I don’t think it was a good idea to send dad to his early grave.
"Kassandra! What does that mean!" Dad shouted after me, I simply blew him a kiss, running from the house and getting into my sleek white car.
To everyone, I am Kassandra Aurora King, the gorgeous debutante daughter of the mayor who was studying English literature and business, with a love for fashion and dancing. But I had another identity too… one I had taken up in New York. An identity that I could never let my family know about, because if they did, they would never allow me to be a part of it.
I was born and raised in New Orleans, but after an accident three years ago, I was sent to live with my aunt in New York. What dad never realised was that he had simply thrown me into more danger, and it was that danger that had made me take up my secret identity as a hunter…

After the Affair: Falling into a Billionaire's Arms
On my birthday, he took her on vacation. On our anniversary, he brought her to our home and made love to her in our bed...
Heartbroken, I tricked him into signing divorce papers.
George remained unconcerned, convinced I would never leave him.
His deceptions continued until the day the divorce was finalized. I threw the papers in his face: "George Capulet, from this moment on, get out of my life!"
Only then did panic flood his eyes as he begged me to stay.
When his calls bombarded my phone later that night, it wasn't me who answered, but my new boyfriend Julian.
"Don't you know," Julian chuckled into the receiver, "that a proper ex-boyfriend should be as quiet as the dead?"
George seethed through gritted teeth: "Put her on the phone!"
"I'm afraid that's impossible."
Julian dropped a gentle kiss on my sleeping form nestled against him. "She's exhausted. She just fell asleep."

What? No—wait… oh Moon Goddess, no.
Please tell me you're joking, Lex.
But she's not. I can feel her excitement bubbling under my skin, while all I feel is dread.
We turn the corner, and the scent hits me like a punch to the chest—cinnamon and something impossibly warm. My eyes scan the room until they land on him. Tall. Commanding. Beautiful.
And then, just as quickly… he sees me.
His expression twists.
"Fuck no."
He turns—and runs.

Crowned by Fate
“She’d just be a Breeder, you would be the Luna. Once she’s pregnant, I wouldn’t touch her again.” my mate Leon’s jaw tightened.
I laughed, a bitter, broken sound.
“You’re unbelievable. I’d rather accept your rejection than live like that.”
As a girl without a wolf, I left my mate and my pack behind.
Among humans, I survived by becoming a master of the temporary: drifting job to job… until I became the best bartender in a dusty Texas town.

The Biker Alpha Who Became My Second Chance Mate
"You're like a sister to me."
Those were the actual words that broke the camel's back.
Not after what just happened. Not after the hot, breathless, soul-shaking night we spent tangled in each other's arms.
I knew from the beginning that Tristan Hayes was a line I shouldn't cross.
He wasn't just anyone, he was my brother's best friend. The man I spent years secretly wanting.
But that night... we were broken. We had just buried our parents. And the grief was too heavy, too real...so I begged him to touch me.
To make me forget. To fill the silence that death left behind.
And he did. He held me like I was something fragile.
Kissed me like I was the only thing he needed to breathe.
Then left me bleeding with six words that burned deeper than rejection ever could.
So, I ran. Away from everything that cost me pain.
Now, five years later, I'm back.
Fresh from rejecting the mate who abused me. Still carrying the scars of a pup I never got to hold.
And the man waiting for me at the airport isn't my brother.
It's Tristan.
And he's not the guy I left behind.
He's a biker.
An Alpha.
And when he looked at me, I knew there was no where else to run to.
