Chapter 298
I had the brilliant idea of surprising Lucas will all the new skills I had learned.
I'd been so busy study, that I was always too tired when I got home.
Showing him the magic I had learned was the best way for me to show him just how much I had grown. With a quick spell and a flick of my wrist, I conjured a portal right in our living room, ready to transport myself back home.
As I stepped through the portal, the familiar rush of energy enveloped me, and with a flourish, I emerged in our cozy living room.
"Lucas?" I called out, unable to contain my excitement.
Lucas, who had been engrossed in studying for his upcoming exams, jumped in surprise at the sound of my voice. "Shana? What... How did you... What's going on?"
I couldn't help but laugh at his bewildered expression. "Surprise!" I exclaimed, grinning from ear to ear.
His eyes widened in disbelief as he took in the sight of me standing there, a portal shimmering behind me. "Shana, that's incredible! How did you do that?"
"I've been learning some new tricks," I replied coyly, taking a step closer to him. "Thought I'd show off a little."
He shook his head in amazement, a smile spreading across his face. "You learned how to create a portal on your own?"
"I've been practicing. I spent all day transporting myself to different parts of the palace," I explained. "I think I'm finally starting to get the hang of it."
"If only I could use that kind of magic when playing hockey, then I'd win us every game," Lucas teased.
I laughed. "You're fast on your own, you don't need magic to make you a better player."
"Well, I don't... but it would be nice."
I chuckled at his playful remark, feeling a warmth spreading through me at his reaction. "Come here, you," I said, beckoning him closer with a grin.
Lucas stepped forward, wrapping his arms around me in a tight embrace. "I've missed you," he murmured against my hair.
"I've missed you too," I replied, relishing in the feeling of being in his arms again.
We stood there for a moment, simply enjoying each other's presence, before Lucas pulled back slightly, his eyes searching mine.
"So, how's everything been going at Hawking University?" I asked, eager to hear about his experiences.
Lucas's face lit up as he launched into a lively recount of his adventures on campus, from his classes to his hockey games and everything in between. It was clear that he was thriving in this new environment, and I couldn't help but feel a surge of pride for him.
As he spoke, I couldn't help but admire the way his eyes sparkled with enthusiasm and passion. It was moments like these that made me fall in love with him all over again.
Eventually, the conversation turned to me, and I shared with him everything I had been learning from the White Wolf book and my training sessions with Liam and Professor Black.
Lucas listened intently, his expression one of genuine interest and support. "Wow, Shana, that's amazing," he said, his voice filled with admiration. "I'm so proud of you."
His words filled me with a sense of validation and warmth, knowing that he was genuinely happy for me.
"I feel like I finally have a purpose," I admitted, a hint of vulnerability creeping into my voice.
"You've always had a purpose, Shana," Lucas replied softly, his eyes never leaving mine. "But now, you have the knowledge and wisdom to fulfill it in ways you never imagined."
I smiled, feeling a sense of gratitude wash over me for having him by my side.
"Thank you, Lucas," I said, reaching out to squeeze his hand gently. "For always believing in me."
"Always," he replied, squeezing my hand in return.
Suddenly, a mischievous glint appeared in his eyes, and a playful smile tugged at the corners of his lips.
"You know what?" he said, his voice filled with excitement. "I think it's time we had a little celebration."
"A celebration?" I echoed, raising an eyebrow in curiosity.
"Yeah," Lucas said, his smile widening. "A date. Just the two of us. It's long overdue."
I felt my heart flutter at the suggestion, the thought of spending a romantic evening with Lucas filling me with excitement.
"I'd love that," I replied, a smile spreading across my face.
"Great!" Lucas exclaimed, his eyes shining with enthusiasm. "I have the perfect place in mind."
I agreed, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips. "Where do you want to go?"
Lucas grinned, his eyes sparkling with excitement. "How about that little Italian place downtown? I hear they have the best pasta in town."
I nodded eagerly, already picturing the cozy ambiance and delicious aroma of freshly cooked pasta. "Sounds perfect. Plus, I'm starving."
As we stepped out into the cool evening air, hand in hand, I felt a surge of happiness wash over me. With Lucas by my side, I knew that anything was possible, and that together, we could conquer whatever challenges lay ahead.
Little did I know, the biggest surprise of all was yet to come.
As we sat across from each other at our candlelit table, surrounded by the soft glow of fairy lights and the gentle hum of conversation, Lucas stared at me lovingly.
It felt like our lives had gotten so busy, that moments like these were rare nowadays.
Sitting across from him and being in his presence filled me with a sense of calm that I didn't even know I missed.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" I questioned as I tilted my head to the side.
Lucas chuckled softly. "Because you're beautiful, Shana," he replied, his voice low and sincere. "And I can't help but admire you. I'm just the luckiest guy in the world to have you in my life."
I felt my cheeks flush with warmth at his words, a soft smile gracing my lips.
"You always know just what to say," I said, unable to hide the fondness in my tone.
"It's easy when it's the truth," Lucas said, reaching across the table to take my hand in his. "I mean it, Shana. You're my everything."
His words sent a flutter of butterflies dancing in my stomach, and I squeezed his hand gently in response. "You're my everything too, Lucas."
He reached into his pocket, a nervous look crossing his face.
"Shana," he began, his voice slightly shaky but filled with determination. "There's something I've been meaning to ask you."
My heart skipped a beat as I met his gaze, anticipation bubbling within me.
"Will you marry me?" he asked, producing a small velvet box and opening it to reveal a dazzling diamond ring.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I took in the sight of the beautiful ring, the significance of his question washing over me like a wave.
"Yes, Lucas," I whispered, my voice barely above a whisper. "Yes, I will marry you."
With a smile that lit up the room, Lucas slipped the ring onto my finger. I could hardly believe it.
"Is this real?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
"Absolutely real," Lucas said, his laughter filled with happiness as he leaned in to press a gentle kiss to my lips. "And it's only the beginning of our forever together. I love you, Shana."
"I love you," I replied, knowing that this moment would be etched into my memory forever.
