Chapter 296
I stood before the locked White Wolf book, a sense of determination washed over me.
This was the moment I had been waiting for—a chance to unlock the secrets hidden within its pages and delve into the mysteries of my life.
This book had the ability to tell me more about who I was and what I was meant to do.
Suddenly, all the trials and tribulations that I had been through in the past year felt worth it for this moment. I deserved this. I deserved to know who I was.
With Alex by my side, I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what was to come. This was no ordinary book—it held the key to unlocking my true potential as the chosen White Wolf.
"Are you ready?" Alex asked, his voice filled with anticipation.
I nodded, my heart pounding with excitement.
"You've got this, Shana," he said, his voice filled with confidence. "You were born for this moment."
"Let's do this."
With a steady hand, Alex pricked his finger, drawing a small drop of blood. I did the same, allowing a single tear to fall from my eye.
Together, we watched as our combined essence dripped onto the lock of the book, the magic swirling and shimmering with power.
"You might want to step back for a moment," Professor Black warned. "I'm not sure what sort of reaction the book will have to the spell breaking."
I nodded, a tinge of nervousness fluttering in my chest as I took a step back, gripping Alex's hand tightly.
The air crackled with anticipation as the magic surged, enveloping the book in a radiant glow. Slowly, the lock began to click open, the sound echoing through the chamber like a triumphant melody.
As the final click resonated, the book sprang open, its pages fluttering eagerly as if eager to reveal its secrets.
My heart raced with excitement as I leaned forward, peering into the illuminated pages. Symbols and sigils danced before my eyes, ancient words and spells etched into the parchment with precision.
"It worked," I breathed, my voice filled with wonder.
Alex's eyes gleamed with excitement as he leaned in closer, his gaze scanning the pages intently. "Wait, why can't I see anything? All of the pages are blank."
"What?" Professor Black frowned. "Let me take a look and see."
As he flipped through the pages of the White Wolf book, his eyes widened in shock. "I can't believe this..."
"What is it?" I asked, feeling nervous all over again. "Is something wrong?"
"No, this is... wonderful. This book is more powerful and magical than I thought."
"How so?" I questioned. "Can you see what's written inside?"
Professor Black shook his head. "No, this isn't meant for my eyes. It's only meant for you. Only the White Wolf is able to decipher the contents within the book," he answered simply.
As Professor Black handed the book back to me, I felt a surge of responsibility wash over me.
"Well, that's some bullshit!" Alex complained like a pouty teenager.
I couldn't help but chuckle at Alex's reaction, his frustration tempered by his over-the-top humor.
"Please watch your language," Professor Black said.
"But it is some bullshit," Alex reasoned.
I found it funny that Professor Black was scolding Alex even though he was the Alpha King. He seemed to treat him like his son, which made me wonder if they had grown closer these past few months.
"I know it's disappointing, Alex," I said, trying to stifle my laughter. "But don't worry, I'll make sure to fill you in on all the juicy details."
"Yeah, you better," he replied, though his tone was light-hearted. "I want to know everything about this magical book of yours."
Professor Black joined in our laughter, shaking his head in amusement. "You two never fail to entertain."
When I looked at Alex again, I saw that he was genuinely bummed out.
I shot him an apologetic look, knowing he must be disappointed not to see the contents of the book himself after all this time.
"I'm sorry, Alex," I said softly. "It seems the book is meant for my eyes only."
He nodded understandingly, though a hint of disappointment lingered in his eyes. "It's alright, Shana. I'm just glad we were able to unlock it. I bet it looks really cool."
I turned back to the book, studying it's contents.
"What do you see?" he asked.
I took a deep breath, steadying myself before delving into the wealth of knowledge laid out before me. "There's so much here," I said, my voice filled with awe. "Spells for agility, strength...even protective enchantments."
"That's incredible," Alex said, his tone filled with admiration.
"But there's more," I continued, my eyes scanning the pages eagerly. "Insights into the history of the White Wolf, the evolution...it's all here."
Professor Black stepped forward, his eyes alight with curiosity. "Fascinating. The book must contain centuries of accumulated knowledge about the White Wolf lineage. It's truly a treasure of information."
I nodded, my heart pounding with excitement as I absorbed the significance of what lay before me. "It's like uncovering a piece of my own history, Professor. I can't wait to delve deeper into these pages and learn more about who I am and what I'm capable of."
"It's a privilege to witness this moment, Shana," Professor Black said, his voice filled with genuine admiration. "You're embarking on a journey that few have ever experienced. But remember, with great power comes great responsibility."
"I understand," I replied, my voice tinged with determination. "I'll use this knowledge to protect our kingdom and uphold the legacy of the White Wolf."
"The book will need to be heavily guarded so that it doesn't get into the wrong hands," Professor Black continued.
"Well, if Shana's the only one that can read it, does it really matter?" Alex asked.
Professor Black shook his head. "It's not just about the ability to read it, Your Highness. The knowledge contained within the book is incredibly powerful. If it were to fall into the wrong hands, it could pose a serious threat to the safety and stability of our kingdom."
Alex nodded, understanding dawning in his eyes. "I see your point. We'll need to take extra precautions to ensure its security."
I glanced between the two of them, a sense of responsibility weighing heavily on my shoulders. "I'll do whatever it takes to protect the book and our kingdom."
"That's the spirit," Professor Black said, a hint of pride evident in his voice.
"This is... beyond anything I could have imagined," I murmured, my voice filled with awe as I held the book.
Alex smiled proudly, his eyes shining with admiration. "You were meant for greatness, Shana. And now, with the power of the White Wolf book at your disposal, there's nothing you can't accomplish."
"Thanks, Alex," I said, touched by his words. "And thank you, Professor Black, for all your help."
"It's been my pleasure, Shana," Professor Black replied warmly. "You have a bright future ahead of you, and I have no doubt that you'll make the most of it."
"Now, let's take a closer look at the spells and enchantments contained within the book," Alex said eagerly. "I want you to learn it all."
