Chapter 126
Lucas tightened his hold on me as I snuggled further into him on the couch.
I was about to close my eyes and drift off for a quick nap when I realized how silent the house was.
Suddenly, my thoughts took a turn as I embraced the possibility.
“Is Grandma Jo here?” I asked Lucas softly, as I turned to face him.
Lucas was silent for a moment, listening for any kind of sound. When nothing came, he shook his head.
“She’s probably at her yoga class.”
I smiled, imagining Grandma Jo with all her old lady friends in the 80s workout attire. Even though she was retired, she still managed to get herself up and moving.
She went to yoga almost every single day and always came back in an excellent mood.
“How much time until she’s back?” I asked Lucas innocently.
He opened his mouth to answer, but when he saw the mischievous look in my eyes, he squinted. “Why are you asking me that? And why are you looking at me like that?”
“Looking at you like what?” I batted my lashes.
“Oh no. You’re trouble,” Lucas started to say with a smile. He pointed a finger at my face, tapping me on the nose. “You’re trying to seduce me.”
I let out an accusatory laugh, “I’m not doing anything. I’m just asking when she’s going to be back home.”
“You’re asking so you know how much time you have to seduce me.”
I rolled my eyes with a laugh. “Is it a crime to want to kiss my boyfriend?”
“Well, if you wanted a kiss…” Lucas cupped my face with his warm hand, angling my head up to his. “You could’ve just asked.”
Lucas’s lips pressed against mine softly and I immediately felt myself relax into him. I put a hand on his chest and let myself feel the beat of his heart as it increased.
It felt good knowing that I was the one responsible for that.
Suddenly, Lucas grabbed me and pulled me on top of his lap so that I was straddling him on the couch. My knees rested on either side of him.
I pulled away from our kiss with a raised brow while Lucas sat back with his arms behind his head wearing a smug expression.
“I like this position more,” he said confidently.
I shoved his chest and placed my lips back on his.
His hands found their way around my waist as he held me to him. Slowly, his hands traveled down. I rocked against him and his hands grabbed my backside, pulling me closer to him.
I felt a friction in my core and all I wanted was Lucas's hands to be everywhere, all over me.
Even though I felt like I had no control over my life at the moment, I realized that I also couldn’t help but feel out of control around him.
He made me feel crazy with desire. It was something I had never experienced before.
Our first time together had been so tender and sweet, a moment that I would cherish forever.
Lucas was gentle with me the entire time, something I was thankful for.
I just realized that we hadn’t even been physical since that night.
I wasn't sure how I had made it this long without kissing him again.
Lucas's hands traveled upward to my breasts and he squeezed them, eliciting a moan out of me.
"You like that?" he asked breathlessly.
I nodded, pushing myself further into his lap.
He moved his hands under my shirt, now groping me through my bra. I moved back quickly, yanking my shirt off of me as fast as I could.
Lucas's eyes surveyed my chest generously before he started planting kisses all over me. I let my fingers hold his head close to me as he licked and sucked my skin.
Lucas pulled away from my chest to peer up at me. I was ready for our fun to continue when I noticed how bright Lucas's eyes were.
They were normally bright, but they appeared much lighter than usual.
"Whoa, Lucas," I said, grabbing either side of his face with my hands, panic suddenly taking over me. "Your eyes..."
"What about them?" he asked, blinking as if he didn't care. Even though his eyes were almost shining blue, there was still desire.
But what if something was wrong?
"Your eyes look like they're... glowing blue."
Lucas's smirk deepened, his lips tugging upwards as he responded playfully, "Glowing?" He emphasized the word with a teasing tone. "That's cute, Shana."
"I'm serious!" I said with a sense of urgency. It wasn't that his eyes were frightening or glowing brightly...
It was the slightest change to how his eyes normally appeared. It almost reminded me of the way the moon shines in the night sky above a dark blue ocean.
"Is everything okay?" I asked Lucas, concern lacing my words.
"Shana," Lucas continued to wear that confident grin. "This is perfectly normal. It just means I'm... aroused."
My brows shot up to the ceiling.
"A... aroused?" I stammered, my voice betraying my intrigue.
Lucas nodded, his hand moving to tenderly tuck a stray strand of my hair behind my ear. "Yeah. You know, like turned on?"
A surge of confusion coursed through me. Why were his eyes glowing because he was turned on? And why hadn't I noticed this before? Was it some sort of Alpha male trait?
"You look perplexed," Lucas remarked, his voice lowering to a hushed tone as he sought to lessen my puzzlement.
"That's because I am," I answered honestly, my gaze still locked onto his captivating eyes.
As I continued to peer into Lucas's strange glowing eyes, a mix of curiosity and fascination swirled within me.
His gaze remained locked onto mine, unwavering and intense, as if he were urging me to dive deeper into this newfound mystery.
And for some odd reason, I felt a pull toward him, like his eyes were entrancing me.
My fingertips lightly brushed over the contours of his cheeks, tracing the subtle lines and curves of his features.
It was as if I needed confirmation that this change in his eyes was real, not just a trick of my imagination running wild.
Lucas leaned into my touch, his lips curling into a soft, affectionate smile. "It's not something I can control, Shana. It just happens when I'm... well, feeling a certain way."
I couldn't help but blush at his implication, and a flutter of warmth spread through me.
Despite the bewilderment that still clouded my thoughts, I couldn't deny the attraction that pulsed between us.
Lucas's fingers trailed down from my hair to my shoulder, his touch sending shivers down my spine.
"You have this effect on me," he confessed. "It's like you awaken something within me."
My heart raced in response to his words.
"Is it because you're an Alpha?" I questioned. "Does this normally happen? Will my eyes glow?"
Lucas shrugged. "I'm not sure if it's normal. This has only happened to me once before, but many Alpha males experience more intense feelings when they know their partner is powerful. It's like a primal part of me knows who you really are, and that side of me is drawn to you even more."
"So, you're saying your eyes are glowing because of your wolf?"
"Exactly." Lucas tilted his head as he watched me.
The connection we shared, the unspoken desires that simmered beneath the surface, had grown stronger since that night when we had become more than just friends.
But I hadn't shifted until my birthday. Maybe Lucas was right. Maybe this was his body's genuine reaction to who I truly was behind my human self.
The White Wolf.
His lips found mine once again, their warmth and softness electrifying. We managed to kiss with more intensity, a deeper hunger that mirrored the glowing intensity in his eyes.
I was about to unstrap my bra when we heard the sound of a car outside.
I jumped off of Lucas faster than I had ever moved in my life.
Lucas and I both stared at each other wide-eyed. We didn't say anything, but we could read exactly what the other person was thinking.
Grandma Jo's home.
