Chapter 7 An Inseverable Tie

💥Seraphina💥

I settled on a stool I found in the corner of the room lost in thought. I had pulled this stunt just so I would have the situation under control and time to sort out my plans.

A cold wind blew on from the window, sending a shiver through me. Immediately, I flew up to my feet. I glanced at the window with haste. The window wasn't open when I came in,only the curtains were drawn. My stomach churned, goosebumps prickling up my arm then spread to other parts of the body, and I felt the presence of someone else in the room.

“Why are you here?” I question turning around in search of where it hung. It wasn't visible at first until I spoke.

Just like I had expected, the Airy Dragon had invaded the room. It has the ability to fly and come in as a windy air that's deafening and stormy.

It remained quiet, staring at me like it was observing me.

“Do you want to surrender the sunstone to him?”

When whispered, him, its gaze went over to Elias who laid on the bed with no facial expression.

How did the Airy Dragon know?

I was about to voice out the question screaming in my head when it dawned on me that it supervises and knows everything happening to its people.

It chuckled, its chuckling sounding like a brewing storm to my heart. It felt like it would unleash anytime.

“I believe you know the gravity of what your decision is to the kingdom. Everyone relies on you, and you rely on the Sunstone….” My hands clenched to the left pocket of the dress I was wearing. I cuddle the object in my palm. “It's left for you to decide..”

With the same chilling cold, it vanished from the room and the window returned to its normal state.

Its words still left a sense of trouble to me, its warning was more like a prophecy. Its words had told me I'd be making a great mistake if I hand it over to Elias. What did he plan to do with the Sunstone?

My eyelid rolled over to Elias, I thought I was staring at his body until a light touch came in contact with my hand. And before I knew what was happening, my airway had been blocked and I was left gasping for air.

It didn't end there, I was lifted from the stool with no mercy and my back hit dryly on the wall. I was lifted up from the floor with a hand snatched on my neck. I rolled my eyes in search of who had pinned me to the wall. But to look down was another immense pain.

“Hmmm hmmm.” I grunted with so much effort. My hands went instinctively to my neck to remove the grip on my neck, but it wasn't of much help.

A tingling sensation rose from my tummy up to my lung, and stopped at the point where I was being held.

I could see my face turning pale from lack of air and freedom. I felt like I was on the verge of death. I murmured faintly…trying to call for help with my magic. But it wasn't working.

That must have been as a result of me not being collected. I tried searching for the Sunstone I've always had with me, but I couldn't find it in the left pocket I've always had it in.

Elias’breathing became louder and haggard. “Are you searching for this?”

He raised it up high for me to see what he had on him and it was indeed what I was looking for. It was a transparent triangular object that glowed despite the absence of light.

He chuckled wickedly while I grunt in pain.

“Hehehehe…what plan do you have? Is this your plan, Seraphina? Use me then kill me? Why did that deadly thing ask you not to hand it over to me? What magical ability does this thing possess?”

He questioned thoroughly but I didn't even have the energy to answer him. How I wish the commandant would enter this minute. My head and body screamed in pain that was only heard by me. I tried to fight off the drowsiness that was starting to confuse me with my dangling head.

Then, the idea struck me like lightning. And I realized I had been suffering myself. I swung my legs at the same time and kicked him harshly in his lower stomach. Frustrated from the pain, he released his grip on me and I fell to the ground with a loud thump.

The pain revolved from my back body over to every joint of my body. I crouched, holding my leg to my body. Elias was in no better condition. He had just survived from the Shade's beast clutch and the next moment,he was struck with my extra powerful kick.

He knelt on the ground holding his tummy, the look in his eyes was filled with utter fury and disdain. But that didn't make me fear, what I feared that of mine he had in possession and how he heard the conversation between the Airy Dragon and me.

I was still rolling in pain, but I had to ask. “Return back to me that of mine you have. I wasn't ready to give it to you as of yet.”

Elias slowly raised his gaze to me and spat out brutally. “I wouldn't want to go back and remind you of what we agreed on. What harm do you plan to bring to me? If you refuse to speak,I will order to have your tongue removed. I see you are now powerless.”

Oh! Elias's words got deep into my skin and burned down the pride in me. Indeed the Sunstone was what I had always looked up to, but did my power depend on it?

“We have to address the conversation you heard,” I tried to sound calm and collected even though my mind was screaming hell. I still wondered how he heard it, only those who possessed special and supernatural abilities or those trained under the watch of a supernatural being could hear it.

A cunning smile crawled up on Elias' lip which brightened up the expression on his face.

“You are dying to find out how I do my things after your secrets get leaked out. I'm not concerned with any of that. I now have the Sunstone with me, now we need to make an oath to be sure you won't go out of your way to betray me.”

My face turned ash with regrets and disbelief. I wasn't sure of what he meant by oath, would he really follow the procedure it takes?

His action answered my question, he stood up and walked to the bedpost, he lifted his pillow and brought out a dagger. The dagger glinted with fury, it looked new but it smelt of blood.

I shook with fear, and hid my hand behind my back. Elias stumbled back to me and pulled me up with a strength I never imagined he would have.

As I looked at him, a question crawled in my head. 'When did he wake up? Did he know I was toying with his commandant and royal physician?’

At the thought of the question a sudden, searing pain tore through my hand. My breath hitched — the sting was so sharp it snapped me back to reality. And when I looked down, he had slit my hand and it was now oozing in blood.

I couldn't question, he had done the same to himself before I could even open my mouth to berate him.

Still holding my hand, he joined my hand with his, making sure the blood was in contact with each other. I watched the scene, speechless. It felt like my brain had been wiped out.

He looked into my eyes, “Swear to never betray me.”

I was silent…for a very long time until I felt something rolling I'm my stomach. It made me want to bend, but I couldn't and like it was automated I opened my mouth and voiced out.

“I Princess Seraphina of the Sylvandell Kingdom vow to never betray King Elias of the Aethelgard kingdom. If I should ever do that, I should be punished severely by the gods and let go of all my magical powers.”
