Chapter 4 On The Verge Of Destruction
💕Seraphina💕
What had I just done? I just used my magic to save him. But more importantly as the words slurred from his mouth his eyes rolled from left to right and I could see that he was losing his consciousness.
I couldn't just leave him to die…the claw of the Shade Beast wasn't just a wound. It was an invitation, if I didn't heal him, the creature might take root in his soul.
And having the beast around affects me greatly and only hastens the destruction of my Kingdom.
My left hand trembled violently from the magic's backlash. I glanced across the room and saw the blacksmith man thrown across the room.
I shut my eyes and murmured the words of renewal. It was ancient and forbidden. A faint shimmer pulsed from my finger as I touched his left chest as if breathing soul into it. Colour returned to his face, but when his eyes opened, they were empty because only my command echoed in his mind.
“Help King Elias to his chambers.”
Without hesitation, he lifted King Elias with surprising strength. His movements were mechanical.
The Shade beast didn't spare them, it magically hypnotized them. The Shade Beast presence lingered like ash.
The blacksmith man walked with no emotion, he looked straight all through not paying attention to the dead bodies we encountered.
After walking through several halls, we finally made a stop at his chambers. At the hall leading to his chambers, a dozen of guards stood there, and when they saw their king limp in another man's arm like a bride, their shock turned to fury.
"Swords out!"
One barked and in an instant, blades flashed
“You really think I want to harm your King?” I said sharply, my breath hitched. “If I don't act now, the Shade Beast will claim him.”
They didn't lower their weapon. The blacksmith stepped forward regardless of the weapons. Until the cold steel touched his chest did he stop.
From a far corridor, a man approached. He was clad in dark blue armor and his eyes held fire and cruelty. The blacksmith man laid King Elias on the floor and retreated, walked back with practiced steps.
The man rushed over to see Elias on the floor.
“What's going on here, Princess Seraphina?”
His voice was incredibly cold, enough to pass off as the commandant.
“I have no time to explain, because now your King is relying on my magic.” I replied, the words coming out with exhaustion and tremble. “ If I don't treat him now, the Shade beast might possess him.”
As I spoke, the man furrowed his brow in confusion. Then it dawned on me that they fought with swords and not magic. He might not have the knowledge of what a Shade beast is.
“If you don't believe me, you can go check the armoury. It's destroyed.”
The man in return clicked his tongue, “If it's damaged, why didn't we hear any sound.”
“Because magic doesn't scream.”
Why am I getting questioned when all I want to do is to prevent a harmful creature from destroying us all? My patience was at its peak but I had to control it.
“Go check the armoury, in the meantime allow me to go into the chamber and have a talk with him.”
The man stood still for several seconds, before he lifted his hand. He unlocked the chamber and gave permissions to the guards to carry the king who was bleeding.
In any other situation, King Elias would have bled to death already but because he had someone like me beside him.
I was allowed into his personal chamber where the king sized bed was placed for a king like him. His recovery wouldn't be an easy one as he's already dying from the curse.
I tore his clothes off, revealing the scathing bruise. It wasn't as deep as I imagined.
I placed my hands over the mark and whispered old tongue. I felt the energy drain from me like Elias' seeping blood. Hours passed unnoticed by me. When it was over I could barely stand. My magic had reached its limit.
By the time I left his chambers, the corridors were barely visible. I reached my chamber and knocked weakly.
"Anya.."
My voice came off as a whisper.
Anya was in there,I am very sure of that. I kept on until my skin came in contact with the cold floor. But I couldn't resist the close in that was taking over my reasoning.
All I knew was that I was unbearable sleepy and I needed my comfort. I sprawled on the floor and closed my head, shut my mind and fell asleep.
“Help….help. Princess Seraphina has collapsed.”
“Guards!”
“Fetch the physician!”
Words like that invaded my sleep and then sounds of heavy footsteps running from both sides. I didn't know for how long I was asleep but I think a war is coming with the sound of what I was hearing.
The voices echoed through my fogged mind, I tried to open my eyes but I couldn't bear to do so.
I rubbed my eyes to get rid of the sleep. It seems like we are in the middle of the night, there was this darkness that surrounded me like shadows of people.
I still hadn't opened my eyes.
When I finally forced my eyes open. I froze. I was surrounded by terrorizing silhouettes sheathed in Royal blue outfits.
