"Everything is going to be ok, Brooke." Jace said as he hugged his daughter.
Jace has always known his daughter to be head over heels for Nathan . She made him the center of her life and now, they are finally separated. It will definitely hurt her and also hurt him as her father. But this is an opportunity for Brooke to finally see clearer. To see that she deserves better than settling for someone that refused to appreciate her.
"I just can't believe this actually happened." Samantha said. She said beside the father and daughter. Trying to sooth her daughter by rubbing her back gently.
At the moment, Samantha is hurt. She knew everything that has been happening throughout her daughter's marriage.
Samantha even suggested the separation during the first year of the marriage. But Brooke assured her that it would be alright. She just had to work her way into making Nathan warm up to her. Besides, it's not like they were enemies or anything like that.
However, nothing Brooke did worked. The first few months were even the best part of the whole marriage. As time went on, things were still not how she imagined them to be. The. Keren showed up again and everything was destroyed beyond what Brooke could handle.
"It will be alright, Brooke. This should be another chance for you to push through your study and career." Jace said through Brooke's hair.
His daughter is one of the smartest people he knew. But then, she chose Nathan over even her career and future. Now that this happens, he can help see her through it all.
"You can go back to school to study medicine. Just like you have always wanted. You can become a heart doctor like me." Jace ended with a smile.
Brooke pulls away from the huge and looks at her father thoughtfully.
Samantha looked between her husband and her daughter, also thoughtfully.
"That means she will have to leave the city again. All by herself. In her emotional state?" Samantha spoke with concern. Her daughter has been away for 3 years into a loveless marriage. Now that she is out of it, she is heartbroken and she wouldn't want her daughter to be far from them. At least until she heals. Besides, it was clear that Brooke is still very much in love with her now ex-husband. She needs to be around people that will show her love and care.
"It doesn't have to be that way." Jace said. "Now that Brooke is divorced, we don't have much reason to stay in this city. We can all move to a new one, where Brooke will be free from running into, you know who. Also, get to attend medical school."
It was Brooke's turn now to look between her parents. They were discussing future plans for them but mostly her.
"What about your businesses, dad? And your job?" Brooke finally said.
"That is no problem. I can easily get another job anywhere as I am the best in my field. I could look into offers I keep getting from other places." Jace waves off without hesitation. "And as for the business with the Leos, I will sell my shares." That will be the best as Jace has thought. Sian now their son has divorced their daughter, it is best to prevent any awkward encounter with them.
"That would be wonderful." Samantha peached in with complete support.
Brooke sniffed her tears back. "Are - are you sure?" She asked between her parents. "I don't want you both to have to start over because of me." All these they are planning is because of her. They want to start a whole new life just because of her.
"We are absolutely sure, dear." Samantha assured her.
"We will do whatever it takes to make our only child happy." Jace said.
Brooke smiled and hugged both her parents. That was a huge step for her to take in an attempt to get Nathan out of her mind. If her parents were willing to put everything behind her, she has to also fight Nathan 's love out of her heart.
A knock came on an office door before a slender young man walked in.
"Mr Leo, you wanted to see me -" The man began after walking in. But Nathan was quick to cut him off.
"Where is the file I asked you to put together yesterday and leave it on my desk? Why is it not here?" Nathan asked his assistant, Jerry.
"I am sorry, Mr Leo. I asked Jade to put them together and drop it on your desk. Yesterday I had to leave because my mother was sick and was rushed to the hospital. I will get it done now and bring it to you."
"Your mother? I didn't know that." Nathan said in a less angry tone. "Ask Jade to get it done and she will be my temporary assistant. You can take the rest of the week off. Go take care of your mother." He added.
"Thank you, Mr Leo." Jerry said with a sigh of relief. He was about to step out of the office when he stopped in his tracks.
"If I may advise sir, you should also probably take the rest of the week off. You really look like you haven't slept for a while. You have basically been living in the office for a week now." Jerry said before he left.
'Is it obvious that I have not been getting some sleep?' Nathan 's eyes were still fixed on the exit door as he asked himself.
It is true he has been living in the building. Except for one night he spent at Keren's place. Jerry was right. He needs to go back home. But the thought of facing Brooke again made him feel strange. He didn't want to get into another argument with her about Keren, or the divorce. But he just had to go home. When he gets there, he will know how to handle the situation.
