Stefan was leaning over the crib, stroking the baby's back. "No, I swear to you, princess, nothing is ever going to hurt you. I'm here for you, even if Mommy doesn't want it. I'm not going away. And I'm going to protect you. You can count on it."
Alana's throat tightened.
"I'll slay your dragons for you, princess. I give you my word of honor." Stefan continued.
Tears burned in Alana's eyes.
"And if she'll let me, I'll slay Mommy's, too."
Private Investigator Stefan Maynard is on a mission.
A mission very different from the ones he's used to. Finding out he had a daughter had come as a shock. One he has fully accepted. He's ready to play daddy for his daughter's sake.
He's ready to play hubby too… But his daughter's mother, Alana Jackson, isn't having it. She agrees that his daughter needs him, but she's not convinced that she does.
