Chapter 84

Aurora’s POV

I turn over, burrowing into my pillow, only to be pulled backwards into a solid chest.

“Where are you going?” Thorne rumbles sleepily. I smile and look over my shoulder to find bleary eyes watching me.

“Nowhere. I was just turning over,” I mutter. He’s been extra clingy for the last week. Since the masked man attacked and strangled me, Thorne has been at my side all day and all night. Whether we’re at work or at home, he’s glued to me.

He even tried to follow me into the bathroom two nights ago at work.

At first it kind of bothered me, but now I’ve grown used to it. I actually like it. I mean, I’ve always liked having him near, but now when he’s not with me, I get a bit anxious.

Clearly, he does too, because he pulls me tighter to his chest and buries his face in my chest. Hot breath seeps through my sleep shirt and into my skin, sending a shiver through me. He’s not even touching me in a sexual way, yet all my body realizes is that he’s touching my boobs.

“Good. You’re staying here,” Thorne mumbles, his lips just barely brushing across my nipples, and I stiffen.

Good Lord. Does he not realize what he’s doing?

One thing Thorne has held out on for the past week is sex. He kept saying I needed to heal and wouldn’t do more than hold me while we slept. I love that he wants to take care of me, but not being able to touch him and feel him the way I want is killing me.

My body wants him, but it can’t have him.

And now it’s acting like a horny little bitch in heat.

“Goddess help me,” Thorne growls. “I can’t take it anymore. You smell so fucking good.”

“Wha—”

I cry out, as his hand slides into my panties, his fingers expertly strumming my clit, and his tongue flicking across my stiff, sensitive nipple.

“Thorne.” I gasp, arching into his touch and moaning as stars burst in my vision.

“Fucking missed this,” Thorne growls, flipping me over and yanking my hips up. I moan again as his hand presses my shoulders down. “You want me to fuck you, little human?”

“Yes!”

“Hard or soft?”

“Hard!” I cry, pushing my hips back. “Fuck me hard, Thorne.”

“As you wish,” he growls, gripping my hips and entering me in one swift movement. I moan, my vision blurring as Thorne gives me just what I asked for.

“How long will you be gone?” I ask, hugging him.

“A week,” he growls angrily. “And I can’t fucking bring you with me. How am I supposed to protect you if you’re not by my side?”

I bite my lip to stop it from trembling. Being glued to each other for a week makes it that much more difficult part like this. There’s nothing funny about this situation, but I have to admit that it’s adorable that Thorne is so worried. I like it because it proves that he cares.

Thorne wraps an arm around me and shoves his other hand into his hair.

He’s right to be worried, though, because the man who strangled me on the front lawn hasn’t been caught yet.

Like a thief in the night, the man disappeared before any of the warriors even noticed he’d been here. They’ve been looking for him all week, and I was no help. The man was too covered for me to ID him, so each person that Thorne brought before me, I couldn’t say if it was him or not.

However, that won’t stop Thorne. He swore to keep looking until he found the man.

“I’ll be alright, Thorne,” I tell him, grabbing his face and making him look at me. “Mrs. Ashford invited me North to visit her pack and meet with Madame Maura again. I’m sure they will have plenty of security there.”

His jaw tightens and the vein in his neck strains as he breaths in sharply.

“I don’t like leaving you alone,” he growls, staring into my eyes. The fury and worry all mix together, creating an inferno within him that I can feel. He’s running hotter than usual. “I don’t like it. What if something happens again? I won’t—”

Pulling him closer, I press a quick kiss to his lips, “I know, but this might be how I find out if I’m Mrs. Ashford’s niece or not. She said that while I’m there, she’ll help me look within to find my inner wolf if I have one, and you can come when you’re done working.”

“I don’t…” he sighs, pulling me close and hugging me. The sound of a car pulls us apart, and Jace jumps out. He waves, grabs Thorne’s luggage, and loads it into the car before tossing the keys to Thorne.

“It’s all ready for you, Alpha,” he says, stopping next to us.

I smile at Jace, but Thorne grabs my chin and brings my eyes back to him, his voice becoming hard and strained, “Stay with Jace. He’ll escort you to meet Luna Ashford and keep you safe while you go…”

Then he turns to Jace, “And if anything happens to her, which it won’t, you tell me immediately. I’m leaving her in your care and protection.”

“I’ll protect her with my life, Alpha.”

“We’ll be there in less than an hour, Aurora. Do you want to call Thorne?”

“Hmm?” I pause my movie and look up from the tablet. “I think it’s probably a good idea.”

Jace chuckles and nods, “He’s mind linked me eight times just since we’ve been driving.”

“Really? What did you tell him?” I ask, leaning in to hear his response.

“Just told him you were safe and watching movies. Though, I’m not sure why he didn’t just call to talk to you,” Jace laughs, shaking his head. “It’s not like he’s asking for me when he mind links. Every time it’s about you.”

I laugh too, glancing down at my phone.

“I think I’ll just call him when we get there, but I am pretty bored. Do you think I could drive the rest of the way?”

Jace glances at me and shakes his head. It’s the same response he gave me earlier when I asked, so with a sigh, I let my head fall back, and I stare out the window. There aren’t many cars on the road, almost none, actually.

“Did you often drive Thorne’s women around?” I ask, and Jace stiffens.

“No. He doesn’t have any women for me to drive around.”

I look away to hide my smile. No women.

That one statement makes me happier than anything else Jace has told me recently.

“Well, that’s good to k—Jace, look out!”

His head whips to the left as the black SUV slams into the back end of the car. Jace growls, jerking the steering wheel to the side, yelling, “Hold on!”

I scramble for the safety handles, gripping them as tightly as the car jolts again.

“Jace!” I cry, my head bouncing off the window. The car screeches, metal crunches, and Jace shouts just before everything goes black.
