Chapter 2

Kieran's insult left the entire hall in dead silence.

I should cry, I should beg for mercy, I should endure everything like I did in my past life.

But the reborn me only wanted to laugh.

"Impure bloodline? Since I'm apparently unworthy of anyone..." I surveyed the hall, "then why don't you two share Sarah? After all, one Alpha might not be enough for her entertainment."

The hall instantly erupted.

Lucas's face turned ashen: "Elena, what are you saying?!"

Kieran's eyes blazed with fury: "How dare you insult Sarah like that?"

Both Alphas advanced toward me simultaneously.

But Sarah then delicately held them back. "Don't... don't be angry with Elena. She's just acting on impulse. After all, Elena did save you in the forest ten years ago..."

If she hadn't brought it up, that twisted memory would have almost been forgotten.

The truth was, ten years ago when Kieran and I were still childhood sweethearts, we were attacked by rogue werewolves while playing in the border forest.

Those vicious rogues wanted to tear Kieran apart. I desperately used my own body to shield him, deliberately cutting my wrist to bleed and draw the pack's attention away.

I ended up severely injured and unconscious while Kieran escaped. Sarah only arrived afterward.

However, when I woke up, everyone said it was Sarah who saved Kieran, and I had only "gotten in the way."

Worse still, they claimed that when I bled, I was "corrupted" by the rogue werewolves' tainted essence, and my bloodline was no longer pure from that moment on.

Kieran glared at me viciously: "Elena, stop bringing up ten years ago! If you hadn't acted recklessly and gotten corrupted by those rogues, I wouldn't have needed saving at all!"

"It was Sarah who sensed your corruption in time and cleansed the tainted essence from the scene," Lucas picked up the thread. "Elena always uses her so-called life-saving act to guilt-trip us, but won't admit she nearly got Kieran killed!"

A trace of triumph crept across Sarah's face, but she quickly masked it, tears and sobs making their entrance again.

"Don't... don't blame Elena because of me. It wasn't something she could control..."

Listening to these accusations that turned black into white, fury burned in my heart.

Had I actually felt guilty about these lies in my past life?

Kieran then said coldly: "Elena, you should be grateful that Sarah is willing to cover up your bloodline corruption. Otherwise, you would have been cast out from the pack long ago."

"Exactly," Lucas agreed. "You should learn gratitude instead of stirring up trouble here. Sarah saved your reputation, yet you keep provoking her."

"As long as Elena behaves, we're still willing to keep her," Sarah's eyes flashed with triumph. "After all, letting a disgraced Luna wander the wilderness would make other packs mock us for being heartless..."

Hearing this, I couldn't hold back any longer.

She became my savior? The bloodline corruption was my fault? And I should be grateful?

"What if I said I don't give a damn about any of it?" I slowly stood up, my voice terrifyingly calm.

Both Lucas and Kieran looked at me, their eyes full of disdain.

Isabella slammed the table angrily: "Your bloodline is already tainted! How dare you be so arrogant here?"

I met her gaze without flinching: "Then I'll go prove that my bloodline is purer than anyone's. I'm going to the Northern Territory to face the ancient Luna bloodline trial."

Memories flooded back—in my past life, I was locked in the basement because of my "corrupted" bloodline, injected daily with so-called "purification serums" while Sarah stole everything away from me...

Living again, I would never be bound by these lies again.

Lucas tried to grab my arm. Suddenly, intense power burst from my body, sending him staggering back several steps.

"Since you all think there's something wrong with my bloodline, then let me go prove it—who exactly is lying."

Three months later, Northern Territory snow mountains.

I severed all pack bonds with Ravenspire, completely cutting ties with the past.

With Isabella's reluctant "consent," I came to the sacred grounds of the ancient Northern Wastes Pack. She thought I would fail the Moon Goddess trial and die from the backlash of ancient lunar power.

She was wrong.

When I stepped into the Moon Goddess sanctuary and accepted the sacred trial of ancient Luna heritage, the entire mountain trembled under the moonlight.

"Luna Elena," the Moon Goddess priest knelt reverently, his voice trembling, "the Moon Goddess has granted her divine blessing! You have received the highest sacred mark in a thousand years—the Silver Moon Seal!"

Not only that, they discovered an astonishing truth.

"Your bloodline had curse marks artificially implanted, but under the Moon Goddess's protection, they have been completely cleansed. Only someone with..."

"Only absolute devotion to the Moon Goddess and pure spirit during bloodline awakening could achieve this," I said calmly.

It turned out that the rage and awakening from my rebirth had actually earned the Moon Goddess's favor, helping me purify Sarah's implanted curse.

Just then, the moonstone pendant from my mother's belongings grew warm against my chest. Isabella's voice echoed from within:

"Elena! Return immediately! Your mother's memorial rite is approaching! As her daughter, how dare you not return?"

Mother's memorial rite... that was an emotional chain I couldn't refuse.

I smiled coldly. I had already guessed they would use this to summon me back.

"I'll return," I replied coolly.

Since they were so desperate to call me back, let me see what game they were really playing.

Under the full moon, I had just taken my position before the ceremonial altar when familiar voices came from behind me.

"Elena, you finally came back." Sarah smiled warmly, but jealousy flashed in her eyes. "I heard you had a rough time during your trial in the Northern Territory?"

"After all, the Moon Goddess trial is so dangerous. Being able to return alive is already remarkable," her voice dripped with false concern. "Isabella said since your bloodline still has issues, she'll let me continue the purification treatment for you."

I ignored her words and coldly raised my left hand.

The Silver Moon Seal gleamed in the moonlight, its sacred power instantly filling the entire space.

"What is this?" Sarah's face went deathly pale.

"The Silver Moon Seal granted directly by the Moon Goddess," I said calmly. "The highest sacred mark in a thousand years. Proof of the purest Luna bloodline."

"Impossible!" Sarah shrieked hysterically. "Your bloodline was corrupted! How could you possibly... This must be fake!"

"Still want to keep lying?" I smiled coldly. "The Moon Goddess's power also revealed another truth—my bloodline had curse marks artificially implanted. Sarah, know anything about that?"

Sarah trembled all over. "You... how would I possibly know! I've always been helping you cleanse it!"

"Really? Then why are you so terrified?" I stepped closer. "Because if the truth comes out, you can no longer steal my bloodline?"

Sarah looked at my determined eyes and knew her lies had been completely exposed.

Her face twisted with madness flickering in her eyes.

"Elena! Even if you got some damn mark, I won't give up! I'm going right now to prove that I'm more worthy of the Moon Goddess's recognition than you!"

"I'm going to the Moon Goddess ruins in the Forbidden Forest! That's the true test of Luna heritage!"

She frantically rushed from the altar, running wildly toward the Forbidden Forest at the pack's border.

I didn't stop her, just watched coldly as she disappeared into the night.

The Forbidden Forest... that place was indeed dangerous, but it had nothing to do with me anymore. I was about to leave this place forever.

Early the next morning, I was packing to leave the pack permanently.

Suddenly, Lucas and Kieran burst into my room.

"Elena!" Lucas's face white with panic. "Sarah never came back last night! This morning our patrol found signs of a struggle and her scent trail at the edge of the Forbidden Forest!"

Then Kieran's eyes burned with rage: "It's all your fault! If you hadn't pushed her, why would she have run to such a dangerous place alone?"

Lucas also pointed at me angrily: "Elena, come with us to rescue Sarah right now! This happened because of you—you must take responsibility!"

"Don't even think about running away! Until Sarah is safely brought back, you're not going anywhere!"
