Betrayal

Following the advice of partnering with the Starry pack that my ministers had suggested, I decided to go to the meeting which I originally intended not to attend.

I had just gotten out of my car when I perceived the most beautiful scent ever.

'Mate' Stoll, my wolf, called in an excited voice

My hand balled into a fist and my breath emitted in waves due to excitement.

Ever since I became of legal age, I’ve been searching for my mate all around the wolf clan but I never found her. And that made me lose hope.

I didn’t expect that I'll be meeting her at the age of twenty-eight.

I can’t help wondering who she was, and the thoughts made my happiness surge.

I knew her looks didn't matter. All I cared about was if she did have a partner or not

If it turns out that she accepted me tonight l, I'd be taking her back with me to the Red Moon pack tonight

I'll introduce her to the pack, make her become the Luna of the Red Moon pack, and most importantly make her my wife in less than a month

The more I thought about the plan, the more excited I was.

I felt a bolt of sparks erupt in me with each step I took toward her

Upon arriving in the hall, I was almost overwhelmed by the pleasure that coursed through me.

I was about to search for my mate when I saw her; my mate was talking to a waitress, and it seemed she had just arrived.

By just looking at her back frame, I knew she would be the most beautiful woman in the world, but I never expected that she would cruelly reject me, and it made me wonder why.

I think I never did something bad that's worth rejection.

Elsher and I had never met before nor did our pack antagonize each other. Moreover, I made sure I had no negative news swirling about me

Talking about Elsher, I knew she didn’t have a partner yet, so why? Why did she cruelly reject me? Reject us? We would have been perfect together

My hand balled into a fist to suppress the sadness coursing through me.

Stoll was clawing sadly which further increased my pain, but I pretended to be fine while pulling on my cold facade. The rejection felt like a knife slicing through my heart, but I couldn't show weakness, not now.

"Are you okay?" Stephen, my beta asked me, but I raised my hand calmly to signify I did.

Stephen frowned unhappily, "Alpha, how can she be so rude? It's not like you chose this, how can she reject you in front of everyone? As the next alpha of the Starry pack, she should know her..."

"It's enough." I lowered my hand and interjected coldly

Stephen parted his lips, but before he could say a word, the current Alpha of Swift pack walked toward us.

The people at the party all pretended to not know what was going on, and I was glad about it because I don't want to remember how I was cruelly rejected by my mate in front of the whole crowd.

I clenched my fist hard and muttered inwardly, ‘Elsher. You belong to me. I've been waiting for you all my life, don't think I'll ever let you go.’ I declared inwardly

A sense of comfort washed over me as soon as I made the declaration. I turned to Stephen and nodded, signaling him to follow me.

Many of the Alpha wanted to have partnership with me. I calmly reject many and scheduled a meeting with some of the Alphas who are capable enough.

It was dawn when I left the party, and by afternoon I arrived home. The timeframe was enough for me to suppress my pain.

I stepped into the mansion and today i discovered that it looked empty, mirroring the void I felt inside.

I had just gotten out of my car when Alfred bowed to me.

“Is Tiara here yet?" I asked my butler talking about my contract girlfriend whom I've been in a relationship with since the past two years.

"No, Your Highness. Miss Tiara hadn't shown up." butler Alfred responded

I hummed and continued to make my way into the mansion. I turned toward Stephen and conveyed. "I need to see Tiara, right now.” I ordered Stephen.

Since I’ve found Elsher, I decided to meet with Tiara to explain that we need to stop seeing each other

Few years ago, Tiara and I got involved in a contract relationship and we agreed to break up once we found our respective mate

Even though Elsher rejected me, I won’t stop chasing after her. Not until she accepted us

Stephen's expression changed and his expression turned solemn. He took a deep breath and exhaled, "Actually, Miss Tiara had already found her mate and has been with him.“ Although Stephen didn’t complete his words, I understood what he meant

Tiara already found her mate and she’s already together with him

However, because Tiara didn’t want to let go of the power which accompanies dating me, she hid the news from me

My lips curved up in a disparaging chuckle. “Since when?” My mate rejected me and my supposed partner had also been cheating on me. It made me feel so pathetic

"Five months ago, Alpha," Stephen replied honestly

My fist clenched tightly and my vein throbbed in fury.

In the next minute, I exhaled in a bid to remain calm.

There was no use getting angry. After all, it was just a casual relationship between the both of us, It’s not as if intimacy is involved. Thinking like this, my emotions became normal

"No need to explain anything. Tell her we've broken up." I ordered Stephen and left without waiting for Stephen's reaction

In fact, it had taken me everything to control Stoll and myself due to the pain that came with rejection

Although I tried to act indifferently, I still can’t help being overwhelmed with the pain that comes with getting rejected by my mate and being played b y my partner. I didn't know which one hurt the most; the rejection part or the betrayal part
