Chapter 4 Sunny

I breath a sigh of release and feel like my life is finally turning out for the better and it is all because of the growly man currently make us lunch. I get dressed quickly in a pair of loose-fitting jeans, sports bra and v neck t-shirt and my lace up boots. I exit the tent to see him bent over the fire stirring the cast iron pan that he must have brought with him. “Hmm, smells good.” I say as I smell the air.

He turns to me and looks me up and down with a cocky grin and answers me with a finger motioning me closer. I saddle up next to him and see bacon and eggs in the pan, and what looks like a fire pit toaster with bread in it. “The trick is to watch the bread closely to make sure both sides cook evenly.” He softly breaths out and turns the toast. “Now I also brought some tomatoes if you wanna make it a sandwich, or do you want runny eggs and toast?”

“Hmm, Runny eggs and toast sound amazing.” I say with an awe in my voice, because this man is just perfect so far as I can tell. I watch his hands as he turns the bacon and his left hand retrieves the toast from the fire. I notice there is a ring line, my breath catches, and I lose a bit of hope that he is mine to keep. Not sure why it hurts so bad, I mean we just met, and I really have no claim on him, but damn do I want to. He catches me looking and shows me his left hand.

“I know, it is a strong line, I took it off yesterday when I caught her cheating and filed for divorce the same day.” He says on a sigh almost as if he is sorry that he has to tell me. “I will not hide anything from you. I was married right out of college to my high school sweetheart and I thought we were in love, but no we were just going through the motions and I am sorry that I did not wait for you.” He says it with such sincerity I immediately go to him and hold him tight.

“I am sorry to, but you are here now, and we can do this.” I whisper into his ear and I just know that this is meant to be, and I will do anything we need to do to make this work.

“Your okay with having to wait to get married until my divorce is final?” He asks with a hint of shyness that makes me smile and nod. He kisses my forehead and says into my hair, “I swear, we will get through this and I know it is crazy and fast, but I just feel so at home with you.”

“I feel the same way, I don’t know how to explain it, but I just know that you are it for me.” I say with a slight crack in my voice. “I just worry that my parent and Mr. Brighten will be an issue.”

He tightens his hold on me and kisses my head, then we both smell the air and he quickly turn back to the fire and removes the bacon and eggs. “Lunch first, then we will figure it all out.” He huffs out as he sets the pan down on the ground and picks up the plates and serves us our lunch.

We eat in companionship silence as a gentle breeze floats through the trees and the birds chirp in background. My thoughts go to his soon to be ex-wife and why would she step out on him, he seems perfect. I always knew my parents weren’t perfect, they had their flaws, but I never knew the depths they would go to. Now here we are, in the middle of nowhere and eating this amazingly cook fireside lunch with the best back drop provided my nature. Then I remember something he said, and I ask him about it.

“You said this was your property?” I ask tentatively not sure what to make of this instance of fate.

He finishes his bite and looks at me with a sheepish grin and nods. “Yes, I bought the hundred acres just over five years ago when it came up for sale. I thought it would make an amazing family get away.” He looks around at the summit we are on and then continues, “You can see how far I got with it. I just got so busy building my business and trying to please Viv that I was never able to get the cabin built.”

“What do you do?” I ask quietly.

“I own a security company, we provide not just the manpower needed, but also the software needed to keep companies and nations safe from hackers.” He says with a shrug like it is no big deal. “What do you do? Or are you still in school?”

I get this all the time, people either think I am super young or too old for what they need. “I just graduated college with a degree in finance and financial planning.” I answer at stare into the fire as I continue, “I took the courses with the thought that I would be joining my Fathers company and help with stockbroker side, but that was not the case.” I say with a heavy sigh. “It seems that father only sent me to school because Mr. Brighten felt I would benefit from having the extended education and so I was sent to an all girls private college in Upstate NY.”

He just looks at me and motions for me to continue, or at least that is what I feel like he is doing, and it is nice to finally talk to someone about all this nonsense in my mind. “Well, when I was back from college is when my Father informed me that I am to be married in a month to a man old enough to be my dad, in fact he is older than my own parents, and fat, balding sleazy ogre.” I say while a shiver runs through my body. “Anyway, I knew I had to get out of there while I was in college, but I didn’t know how, then I got this letter from my late Great Aunt my last week of college and the same day my mom called to tell me she had died and I couldn’t bring myself to read it. But once I was told I was going to be married, I read it and she somehow knew what my parents were up and left me taken care of I just need to make it to her bank and pick it up. Only I am scared that my parents will be waiting for me and drag me back to their world and take what she left me. So here I am and have been for the last week and a half. I figured I would give it a couple more days and then track down the mountain and see what happens.” I rush out and then look at him.

“Wow, that is a lot to take in.” He says with a huff of breath and rubs the back of his neck, then looks at me and asks, “So do you have the paperwork she sent you?”

“Oh yeah and the safety deposit box key to.” I stand and rush to my bag and grab the envelope she sent me; I slide back beside him at hand it to him. “Here, it is all there. The only thing is, I am not sure where it is or how to get there. I left my phone and my car and anything else my parents might use to track me with at home.”

He looks over the note and then the key and smile brightly, then looks at me. “Babe, I bank at this bank and I can help you.” He says and puts everything back into the envelope and hands it back to me. “Whenever you are ready, I will call some of my guys to post up at the bank and make sure you are safe going in and getting what is yours through the private entrance and we will go home from there.”

“Oh my gosh that would be amazing.” I squeal and throw my arms around him. Then I realize he really hasn’t told me much about him, so I ask softly, “Will you tell me about you?”

He grins and nods, “Sure, I am thirty-one and I own a multi-billion-dollar company, I graduated from college with two majors, one in software engineering and the other in security development. Plus, I minored in software design. I was married for twelve years and thought life was great until it wasn’t.” He sighs then takes my hands and looks me in the eyes, “I feel bad that I was not there when you needed me to because I was in a loveless marriage and not wanting to face the facts. I will not let that ever happen again. You have my word on that. As soon as I am able, we will be married and will start a family.” He says with such conviction that I just nod in agreement.

“I am twenty-four and I have had an extremely sheltered life up until this point, so you will have to forgive me if I have trouble adjusting right away.” I respond with a soft whisper.

“Baby I will hold nothing against you ever.” He says with a softness that echos through my soul and I breath in deeply. “You said you graduated with a degree in finance?”

“Yes, I haven’t had time to find a job yet, but I will.” I rush out so he doesn’t think I am just some freeloader.

“I might be able to help with that.” He says with a Cheshire grin. “My company is looking for a new CFO and I think you would be a perfect fit.”

“Oh my gosh that would be my dream job,” I huff out and look at him with wide eyes. “But what, wouldn’t there be someone more qualified than me?”

“No,” he says with such sureness that I can’t help but believe him. “No one will question my future wife as to why she was hired, and I believe in you.”

I can’t hold back anymore, and I kiss him. It starts out slow and soft and quickly turns passionate, my body hums with anticipation. This is it; this is the man I am going to give my most prized possession to, my innocence. We pull away briefly and I see the lust in his deep green eyes as he searches my face.

“Babe, I so want this, I just need to make sure you want this. Because as soon as we do this, there is no going back. You will be mine and only mine.” He says with such a gruff growly voice that my body responds instantly.

I nod and move to kiss him again, only to have him pull away. “I need your words babe.” He says with a strain to his voice.

“Yes, I want this. Oh my god yes,” I answer with a breathy whisper.

He scoops me up and carries me into the tent and lays me down on the makeshift bed and proceeds to kiss me and gently removing my clothes as we go. First thing to go is my shirt and his…and oh my gosh is he stunning. His chest is a work of art worthy of the louvre itself; I mean hot damn; I am wetter than I ever thought possible. He smiles at me as his hand reaches the button and then the zipper of my pants. Then he slowly glides his hand into them and under the waist band of my panties and I feel the need to tell him that I am a virgin. “Logan,” I huff out and he slow his descent and looks at me with hooded eyes.

“Yeah babe,” his breathy voice asks me to continue.

“I... umm…I am new to all this.” I say so softly I am not sure he can hear me. His hands still just above my mound and he looks at me in the eyes.

“Are you saying you’re a virgin dear?” He says on a breathy voice.

I don’t break eye contact, but I nod. He slows his hand and I instantly regret telling. He shushes me and kisses me softly, “Shushhh, I got you, we will go no further today, but I will take care of you. I want to take all of you.” He voices sounds as rough as I feel, like he is struggling as much as I am. “I want all of you and I will have all of you.” He continues as his hands hold my face, so I am looking him in the eyes. “I want it to be on our wedding night. I want to make sure that you never regret saving yourself for me. Okay?” He says as he searches my eyes once again.

I nod and then strain to get out a small, “Yes, I do.” But really, I don’t, I know that he is it for me and I so want this right now at this moment. He must sense what I need because he pulls me closer to him and we slowly start to grind on each other until we find our release. He holds me tighter as my body shakes like nothing I have ever felt before.

“That’s its babe, just let go, I got you.” He says softly into my hair as he kisses my neck just below my ear and that sends a new wave a pleasure through me. After what feels like forever, I am spent and so tired my eyes don’t want to stay open and I let myself fall asleep in his arms.

Logan

I lay there with her gently snoring against my chest and smile, she is now my world and I can’t believe that I found her when I wasn’t even looking, and I am actually grateful that Vivian cheated on me. Yes, I know that sounds horrible, but I would never have met Sunny and my life would never truly feel complete like I do now. I am so happy I could burst. I slowly slide her to her side of the bed and slip out of the tent to clean up our lunch and text Chet to see if he can get my divorce down sooner rather than later. He asks me why the rush and I let him know that fate has shined on me and I just met an angel and I don’t want to be without her ever. At this my phone rings and I answer with a giant grin that I am sure he will be able to hear through the phone.

“Hey Chet,”

“Hey yourself, wanna tell me what you mean.” His voice holds a bit of skepticism and I smile at that.

“Hold on one second, I will send you a pic to prove it.” I answer with a chuckle and poke my head into the tent and take a quick pic of a sleeping Sunny and send it to him.

He whistles into the phone and says, “Wow, you work fast, she is stunning even asleep. Okay, I think we can have this done in a day or two, because of the prenup.” He says with a grin I can feel through the phone. “So, are you going to go the big wedding again and do you need a groomsman?” He chuckles

“Nah, she has some really bad family and I want to be married as soon as possible.” I answer him. “Can you find out more about her family for me? Maybe put Phil on it, her name is Sunny Russell and he is From West Virginia.” I tell him with a sense of urgency in my voice, so he knows that I needed this yesterday.

“You got it, anything else?” He asks

“Yeah, we need to go to my bank, apparently her Great Aunt left her secret money because she knew she would need to escape her parents. I want to be able to get in and out of there without being seen or reported by any spies her family might have. Also, I need you to look into a man Named Mr. Brighten, apparently he is an associate of her fathers.” I get out in a rush.

“Wait to you mean Lucas Brighten, as in Brighten Enterprises?” He says with a bit of hesitations in his voice and then it clicks.

“Shit!” I exclaim and tug at my hair, why the fuck didn’t I put two and two together. “Fuck, I…Fuck…”

“What does he have to do with all this?” Chet says in a rush.

“Apparently her parents are in debt to him and she was to be a payment of sorts. Shit.” I huff out and again Chet whistles into the receiver.

“Wow, this shit just got real. Fuck man.” He exclaims himself. “So how do you wanna play this? I can get a few men to your location in under an hour and they can guide you to the nearest safe house and from there we can make a better plan.” He rushes out and I can hear him already typing out orders as he speaks.

“Yeah you do that. I will start breaking camp and get her ready to move.” I answer and start looking around for all entry and exit point. “We will need a helicopter evac and then we will go from there.”

“You got boss; they are actually fifteen minutes out.” He says and I can still here his fingers flying across his keyboard. “You want me to meet you there and that way we can get the game plan down?” He asks.

“Yeah, I think that would be best. Just remember, no one is to know where I am or who I am with.” I answer with an edge to my voice I rarely show.

“You got it; I know the drill see you in an hour.” With that he hangs up and I get to work breaking camp. I start with the food and supplies, packing it all back into her container and then I put the fire out and set out my homing beacon for my guys. Then I go and wake up Sunny so we can pack up the tent and her pack.

I gently run the back of my hand down her soft cheek and whisper into her ear, “Sunny, baby, we have to leave.” She stirs a bit, sigh and snuggles in deeper to my hand, on any other time this would be amazing, but not right now. Not when her safety is at stake. “Sunny, Honey I need you to wake up, my guys will be here any minute and we need to be ready to leave baby.” I say again into her ear, this makes her eyes fly open in terror. “Woah, it’s okay babe, we’re okay, I just would feel better if we were in a safer location.” I try to settle her nerves.

She props up and looks around then nods and grabs her shirt and fixes her pants and then starts to roll up her bed. I help her and in no time flat we have her tent and all her belongings packed and ready for my guys when they show up five minutes later.

“Boss” Justin one of my most trusted wet ops guys states as he steps through the trees.

“Justin, this is Sunny, and she is the asset and our top priority.” I gruff out and hand him her pack and motion for the others to gather the rest of our stuff.

Justin nods and adds her pack to his back and says, “The Chopper is just beyond the trees primed and ready when you are.”

“Good, we’re ready.” I answer and take Sunny’s hand and lead her through the trees to the waiting chopper. She looks around frantically and gently help her into the chopper and buckle her in before I get myself set up.

The guys return and we are in the air in less than two minutes. While in the air I can see the road, we came in and my car waiting in my normal parking area by the entry gate. Only I also see another set of three large black SUVS coming up the road. I point it out to Justin, and he nods and motions to the headset, we both put them on.

Justin is the first to speak, “We saw them on our way in, we can only assume that they are here to find Ms. Russell, I did a sweep of her name while we were on our why here.” He says quickly and I raise an eyebrow and he continues. “It appears that Mr. Brighten really wants her back, and Mr. Russell put a reward to who ever brings her back first. One million dollars.” He says with a look of disgust because he knows the kind of man Mr. Brighten is and there is no way in hell, he is getting anywhere near what is mine.
