Chapter 7 My Recklessness Nearly caused Me to lose my celibacy
~AMELIA BROOK~
“Mate!”
Amy’s whine, followed by restlessness, pacing, and wriggling her tail in excitement, jerked me out of my sleep. That could only mean one thing: Amy was being aroused. She doesn't act that way unless she senses Hams so close. But now that Hams was no longer our mate, it must be someone.
And the moment my eyelids parted, I saw Hans, trying to take advantage of me. My heart sank at that moment, and fear gripped me. But whose fault was it? Absolutely mine.
Sharing a room with Hans isn't the problem; it was my recklessness that nearly caused me to lose my virginity. Geez! How terrible it would have been if he had succeeded.
“He was damn cute!” Her words flowed smoothly like a gentle whisper.
To be honest, he was cute. And when his palm touched my skin, it felt so soothing, and I would have given in to him if I hadn't woken up when Amy screamed.
‘Get your head straight, Amy, we can't do anything stupid with him, Hans isn't our mate.”
My warning got into her head, so she was grumpy and sank deep into my mind.
That night, I couldn't sleep properly because I was afraid Hans would repeat what he had done earlier.
However, he didn't return to the room, which was a relief. But I found him lying on the bed beside me in the morning.
Gently, I gathered the duvet in my hands and tiptoed inside the bathroom to avoid being noticed by him.
I'd wanted to leave without him this morning; unfortunately, when I came out of the bathroom, he was sitting on the bed, back against the headboard, and eyes fixed on the bathroom door.
That startled me to the marrow, but I ignored him and entered the closet.
A few minutes later, Hans wasn't out of the bathroom, which was a relief, so I picked up my phone from the bedside and exited the room.
With authority and elegance, I walked inside the company building, chin up and head high. Each step I took, my high-heeled shoes made a rhythm on the glossy tile floor.
The employees were all lined up, heads down, as I walked past them. But before I could get inside the elevator, a whisper broke out between them.
“Why did she remove the Valtorium Pack from our shareholders?”
“Do you think we are safe with her as our leader?”
“Alpha Hans must be making her do all these.”
If only they knew I was hearing the gibberish they were saying, they would be so ashamed of themselves.
I halted, spun around, and clapped my hands, drawing their attention towards me.
“Today, you all must know that I, Alpha Amelia Brook, am now the leader of this pack and demand respect from all of you. I can hear whispering words, so you'd better know what you will say behind me.”
A gasp broke out, and those who had just gossiped were kneeling, pleading for forgiveness.
I wouldn't punish them this time; I only gave them the last warning so they would know how to talk about me.
When I arrived at the office, a young man, 5.8 ft tall, was standing in front of my desk, his back turned to the door.
My brows furrowed into curiosity, and as I moved a step, he veered around.
“Whoa! He is gorgeous!” Amy teased, giggling joyfully.
Stop that nonsense, Amy, don't you even think of flirting with this one. I warned her while my eyes were fixed on the manly man before me.
I didn't blame Amy for reacting that way because that dude is so handsome. His huge biceps were visible in his almost transparent cream shirt, and his broad shoulders screamed handsomeness.
“I told you.” Amy’s whisper brought me back to my senses.
“Alpha Amelia?” he bowed low, crossing his left hand on his chest.
Gosh! That voice made me wet! So deep, smooth, and…
“He isn't our mate!” Amy snapped at me, her voice a hint of anger.
I cleared my throat, steadied my emotions, majestically walked towards the swivel chair, and sat down.
“Who are you?”
I stood at attention, making him more handsome as he introduced himself.
“The name is Thane Marcus, the HR of this great company. I have come to remind you that you must choose a Beta who will help you with certain works.”
Oh, a Beta? But is that even necessary? I can do all the work by myself as the leader.
“You are welcome, Thane, but I do not need a Beta.”
He shook his head, flashing a smile on his face.
“Alpha Amelia, that is the rule. There is no way we will have an Alpha without a Beta; you must reconsider.”
Oh, really? But they said a female Alpha isn't accepted in the Pack, but I broke the law. Now, I can also break the law by not choosing a Beta.
“I am not…”
I was interrupted by Hans, who had just entered the office unannounced.
Did I say Thane’s shoulder and chest were huge, and had made me wet? Gosh! Hans nearly made me jump out of my chair to hug him.
Wow! Such a beauty. His figure is so masculine and is just every girl’s dream. And if I hadn't held the chair handle so tightly, holding back my emotion, Amy would have jumped out of that chair.
And wait a second, did all the she-wolves in the company see him this way? Jealousy slowly crept into my heart.
“Who is this?”
He asked, pointing at Thane, his face blank.
“Alpha Hans Morgan?”
Thane bowed to him.
“I am the HR, and I have come to…”
“Being the HR doesn't mean you should come into my wife's office, dressed like this.”
Geez! He is embarrassing me.
“I…I am so sorry, Alpha Hans, it's how we dress here.”
Hans gasped, jerked forward, and grabbed Thane’s collars. I couldn't sit and watch him pretend to be jealous of me, so I intervened.
“Come on, Mate, he is just an employee.”
