Chapter 2 The Triplets Find Their Own Dad
Xandra was kicked out by Lucius.
Trying to hold back her tears as she looked at her three adorable children, she took them to a hotel to stay for the night.
Just then, she received a call from the caregiver at the hospital looking after her mother.
"Ms. Cavendish, can you come to the hospital immediately? Mrs. Cavendish's heart just stopped suddenly, and the doctors are examining her."
"Okay, I'll be there right away." Xandra was frantic with worry.
After hanging up, she forced herself to stay calm and told her son, "Chuck, Mommy has to go to the hospital to see your grandma. You take care of your sisters for me, will you?"
"Okay, Mommy, don't worry. Be careful on the road."
Charles Cavendish's little face was serious and mature beyond his years.
Xandra touched his head and kissed her two daughters on their cheeks, her heart softening.
These were her triplets.
One boy and two girls.
The boy was the eldest, named Charles, but she called him Chuck.
The two girls were named Elizabeth Cavendish and Margaret Cavendish.
The three children were so beautiful they looked like they had walked straight out of a comic book.
Charles was especially intelligent, a little genius.
Although she didn't remember who the children's biological father was, she didn't regret bringing them into the world at all.
Because they brought her immense joy.
After Xandra left, the two pink-cheeked sisters simultaneously looked at Charles.
Their almost identical faces were full of grievance and anger.
"Chuck, Mr. York is so mean, he hit Mommy and you!"
"Chuck, Mr. York kicked us out. Does that mean we don't have a home anymore?"
Charles clenched his little fists, his face serious.
After a moment, he took a deep breath and made a decision.
"Follow me!"
"Where to?"
"To find Dad!"
The Russell Group's spacious, bright CEO office.
Frederick was dressed in a white shirt and black pants, exuding an air of noble aloofness.
He sat at his large desk, holding a document in one hand and a phone in the other.
"Fred, Logan Smith told me he gave up his suite for you last night, and a client sent a woman to his room. Did you, by any chance, get involved with that woman?"
Frederick's long eyes scanned the document, responding offhandedly.
"The information you found on Xandra Cavendish, is this all there is?"
"Why did you suddenly want me to investigate Xandra? Was the woman in your room last night her?"
Frederick leaned back slightly, his long eyes scanning the photos of the children in the document again.
"Xandra's three children, they're not her fiancé's?"
"Yes, it's all in the report."
Frederick's eyes narrowed, "The report doesn't say who the biological father is."
"Fred, I can only get so much information in such a short time. What more do you expect?"
"Goodbye."
"Wait! You haven't told me why you want to investigate Xandra."
Frederick set the document down, his attractive lips uttering one word.
"To marry her."
The other side fell silent.
Just then, his assistant knocked and entered.
"Mr. Russell, there are some children here to see you."
"Who?"
The assistant's expression was odd. "Three kids. They say... you're their dad."
Frederick fell silent.
How could he, a single man, have three kids?
Ten minutes later, in the small conference room.
Frederick looked at the triplets sitting in a row on the sofa, a hint of amusement in his eyes.
Xandra's kids!
They had found him!
"Wow, what a handsome man!"
"Yeah, I like our new daddy!"
Elizabeth and Margaret looked at Frederick with starry eyes.
Charles sat up straight, his little face serious.
His clenched fists showed he was not as calm as he appeared.
Frederick listened to their cute, childish voices, feeling an unexpected softness in his heart.
"Who sent you here?"
Elizabeth and Margaret both looked at Charles.
"We came on our own," Charles said, his young voice calm.
Frederick looked at him, surprised by the boy's composure.
He decided not to reveal his true identity for now.
"Why did you say Frederick Russell is your dad?"
Charles frowned, his big eyes fixed on him. "Aren't you Frederick Russell?"
Frederick's expression paused. "No, I'm Mr. Russell's... assistant."
Disappointment flashed in Charles's clear eyes. "Is Frederick here?"
"He's out." Frederick looked at him. "You haven't answered my question."
Charles clenched his little fists, determination flashing in his eyes. "We want Frederick to be our dad."
Frederick shifted his posture, intrigued. "Why?"
"Because the Russell Group is the leading company in Seaside City, and Frederick is its heir." Charles's young voice was crisp.
"He returned six months ago and used decisive measures to reorganize the company, setting new records for the Russell Group's performance! He's the king of Seaside City's business world!"
Only by aligning with the most powerful man in Seaside City could they ensure their mommy wouldn't be bullied anymore.
"How do you know all this?" Frederick was amazed.
Such a young child should still be blowing bubbles with a milk bottle. But he knew about the financial world!
For a moment, he saw his younger self. Equally mature in thought, out of place with his peers.
"Because Chuck is a little genius, he knows everything!" Elizabeth said proudly and admiringly.
Frederick raised an eyebrow. "So, you want to be the king's children?"
Margaret shook her head. "No, because you have power!"
Frederick fell silent.
"Handsome man, our mommy is being bullied. So we want to seek the protection of the most powerful person in the world, so mommy won't be bullied anymore," Elizabeth explained in her sweet, childlike voice.
Frederick hadn't expected them to come to him to prevent their mother from being bullied! What interesting kids.
"Don't you have a father?" he asked, though he already knew the answer.
"No." The two little girls shook their heads, sadness flashing in their big eyes.
"When will Frederick be back?" Charles asked.
Frederick's long fingers tapped his thigh absentmindedly.
"As far as I know, Frederick has a woman he likes. He won't marry your mommy."
The three kids exchanged glances, their big eyes wide. The two little girls pouted, ready to cry.
"Chuck, what do we do? We can't rely on him!" Charles frowned, speechless.
Frederick's lips curved silently. "Is your mommy pretty?"
"Yes! Mommy is the most beautiful mommy in the world!" Elizabeth said sweetly.
Margaret nodded vigorously, pointing to her own face. "Mommy looks like me, everyone says I'm pretty!"
Elizabeth protested, "No, we look like mommy!"
Frederick chuckled. "Well, in that case, how about considering me? I happen to be looking for someone to marry."
The three kids looked at him, their eyes wide.
"Chuck, this man is so handsome, he's willing to be our daddy!"
"Chuck, I like the handsome man as our daddy."
Charles's face was serious. "No, what good is being handsome? Can he protect mommy from being bullied?"
Frederick's lips curved slightly. "Although I'm not the most powerful man in Seaside City, I'm Mr. Russell's assistant, second only to him. I think I have the ability to protect your mommy."
