Chapter 3
Bianca remained silent.
The Grayson family only acknowledged Eugenie.
Ten Kennas combined wouldn't suffice.
Kenna tugged at Bianca's arm, whining, "Mom, please help me out. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity."
Bianca, irritated by the pestering, snapped, "I said no and I mean no. Do you think the Grayson family is easy to deal with? They would absolutely never agree to a bride swap."
Eugenie curled her lips into a smirk and drawled, "The opportunity was handed to you, and you couldn't seize it."
Kenna was instantly rendered speechless with rage.
That damn bitch, how dare she mock her?
Eugenie shot her an icy glance before turning to head upstairs.
Her former bedroom was on the second floor, but now it was crammed with Kenna's belongings, making her frown in disgust.
"Someone come here," she called.
Housekeeper Uma Miller hurried over. "Ms. Eugenie Medici, what is it?"
Eugenie pointed with a flick of her wrist. "Remove all of Kenna's things. I want this room emptied."
Uma hesitated, clearly uncomfortable. "Ms. Eugenie Medici, this is Ms. Kenna Medici's room. I'm afraid..."
Eugenie corrected her firmly. "You're mistaken. This is my room."
Downstairs, Kenna and Bianca heard the commotion and rushed up.
Kenna's eyes practically shot flames at Eugenie.
"Eugenie, who do you think you are to throw my things out!"
Bianca added through gritted teeth, "The Medici estate isn't your personal playground."
Eugenie raised an eyebrow at them both. "If you still want me to maintain good relations with the Grayson family, then you'll do as I say."
With those words, Bianca immediately went silent.
The business partnership with the Grayson family was just the tip of the iceberg—what really mattered was avoiding their vengeful retaliation.
Their family's fate now rested entirely in Eugenie's hands.
Bianca, massaging her temples, finally conceded, "Clear out the room."
Kenna's eyes widened in shock. "Mom! I've been living in this room for years!"
Bianca sighed heavily. "Just do as she says."
Eugenie's lips curved into a subtle smile. After battling with Bianca for so long, she knew exactly where to hit her—anything that threatened Bianca's own interests.
"And I want all my mother's belongings returned to me—the jewelry, antiques, everything."
Bianca hissed, "Eugenie, don't push it."
Eugenie let out a cold laugh. "Who's pushing too far, you or me? Those items were left to me by my mother. You've hoarded them for years—did you honestly start believing they were yours?"
Bianca was struck speechless once again.
She seethed inwardly, swearing that as soon as this matter was resolved, Eugenie would be the first person she'd deal with.
"I'll give you the items tomorrow."
Eugenie stood firm. "No. I want them now."
Bianca's face nearly turned green with anger, but she finally relented, heading to her bedroom to retrieve Delta's belongings.
"Everything's right here."
Eugenie carefully examined the jewelry, then suddenly spoke up. "Some pieces seem to be missing."
Bianca's guilty conscience showed immediately. "Nothing's missing. These items have been locked in my safe—no one has touched them."
Eugenie's gaze grew increasingly frigid. "I know exactly what my mother left behind. A ruby necklace is missing, along with two rings. These items are worth millions of dollars, and I could easily pursue legal action. If you don't want to end up in court, return them now."
Bianca was practically grinding her teeth with hatred.
What had happened to Eugenie?
Just a few days apart, and she seemed like a completely different person.
"I'll look for them. I must have placed them somewhere else and forgotten."
Eugenie ignored Bianca's clumsy lie as her phone rang urgently—her best friend, Yvaine Martinez, calling.
"Eugenie, are you busy? I'm waiting outside your house."
"I'll be right down."
After securing the jewelry, Eugenie went downstairs to find Yvaine's Ferrari parked outside.
The moment she got in, Yvaine eagerly asked, "Your broken engagement is the talk of the social circuit today. Didn't you always love Bernard? How could you really call it off?"
Eugenie's lips curled sarcastically. "I was delusional before, but now I see clearly. He's always had Allegra in his heart—marrying him would never bring me happiness."
Yvaine nodded vigorously. "Bernard may be impressive, but he's certainly not someone worth entrusting your life to. Still, I'm concerned about the fallout from such a public breakup. Will Mr. Mason Grayson agree to this?"
Yvaine had touched on exactly what was troubling Eugenie. Her engagement to Bernard had been orchestrated by Mason himself.
Announcing the broken engagement was one thing, but truly achieving it would require Mason's acquiescence.
"We'll have to take it one step at a time. I don't want to offend Mr. Mason Grayson, but I also can't bear to see Bernard."
Yvaine responded supportively. "Whatever happens, I stand by your decision. If you need anything at all, just ask."
Eugenie displayed her first genuine smile of the day. "Thank you."
Just as Yvaine had said, news of the broken engagement spread like wildfire, even trending on social media.
The next day, when Eugenie came downstairs, she found herself surrounded by entertainment reporters and paparazzi.
Camera flashes blinded her as microphones were thrust toward her face.
"Ms. Medici, after loving Mr. Grayson for years, why would you suddenly announce a broken engagement in public? Did something happen between you two?"
"Ms. Medici, could you reveal the reason for breaking the engagement? Everyone is extremely curious."
Eugenie had initially planned to leave without comment, but something made her pause. She turned to the cameras with a slight smile.
"There is indeed a backstory to this broken engagement."
Her expression turned regretful, and just as everyone was hanging on her next words, she calmly stated, "Bernard has erectile dysfunction."
The reporters' expressions instantly turned awkward. They had considered countless possibilities, but never a physiological defect.
Bernard was a man at the pinnacle of power.
And he supposedly had erectile dysfunction, which led to a broken engagement?
This was definitely tomorrow's headline news!
After answering the question, Eugenie departed with flair.
The fifteen-second interview clip went viral across all platforms.
When Bernard saw the video, his face turned ashen. "Well played, Eugenie!"
The day after the interview was published, Eugenie learned that a business project she had been eyeing had been snatched away by Bernard.
