Chapter 37
Once the cheers had died down I was crowned the victor of the competition and they announced that the award ceremony would take place tomorrow with all of A CLass and their families.
Despite what just happened, I couldn’t help but feel so proud of myself. Not only did I beat out several other A Class students who grew up training and knowing how to do all these things, but I also beat Rebecca and Draven.
I’ll admit that Draven was a big help with Rebecca and without him I probably wouldn’t have been able to take her down the first time.
But after the golden light emerged, it took down them both in seconds, and healed me. Like how cool is that.
So, granted I should be pissed at Rebecca but I couldn't really care at this moment I was just too damn happy.
Now, on the other hand Rebecca was in huge trouble. She broke the rules and even dared to do it in front of the entire A Class, the instructors and the Headmaster.
What was she even thinking? Surely she had to know that regardless if she succeeded she was going to be in serious trouble.
Currently several instructors were pulling her out, still locked in wolf form, refusing to shift back. Despite that Lucius made sure to let her know her punishment.
“No matter how long you choose to stay in your wolf form,” Lucius said, annoyance clear in his authoritative voice.
“You will be punished and the second you step out of line again, you’ll be tossed out of here so fast and your father won’t be able to do a damn thing.”
Lucius’s words seem to have very little effect on Rebecca right now.
Personally, and call me crazy but I think attempted murder should garner more than a lousy punishment and a scold. You know I think maybe being kicked out and arrested would be ideal.
But then again I haven't been taught all the rules and stuff about how the otherworld is run.
Still since she was refusing to change back, Rebecca was being dragged out and would start her punishment tomorrow after she changed back.
With that settled I didn’t give her and her craziness another thought, ignoring the snarling coming from behind me as I walked by.
Ceremony Day. All the students of A Class gathered into the auditorium bright and early the next day, excited.
Besides not having class because of the ceremony, all the students get the rest of the day off, which many are happy about.
The headmasters had a little idea to make everyone feel a bit happy even if they didn’t come away with any prizes.
Before the ceremony started all the students sat and chatted, some of their families joining them and chatting with their friends or other parents.
The atmosphere was lively and filled with enjoyment, everyone having a good time and in good spirits. Well all except one.
Rebecca’s POV
In the crowd of students sat Rebecca, her arms crossed her now almost permanent scowl on her face as she took in the lively people around her.
How could these idiots just accept that stupid trash as the winner of the competition? Am I surrounded by morons?
As I looked around I couldn’t help but look down on all these losers. They didn’t even make it to the finals yet they were acting like seeing someone else get awards was just as good.
Shaking my head I turned my attention back to the stage where the wench will be showing up soon to take the prize that was rightfully mine.
I had managed to get my dad to pull some strings so that my “punishment” could be held off until after the ceremony.
Smirking, I really found it amusing. Our headmaster really likes to swing his authority around but in the end he has to bow down to those above him like everyone else.
I mean my dad is the Beta’s our Alpha’s right hand man. How could he be so arrogant to say that he wouldn’t give me father face.
The slight movement of the curtain catches my eye, Sterling. I find Katie peeking out at the crowd before dropping the curtain a moment later.
God I hate her. Standing up I quickly make my way backstage.
Katie’s POV
“Damn that’s a lot of people,” I mutter to myself as I let the curtain fall back in place.
I’m good, I can handle this, it’s just students that I see everyday and their parents. It’s really not a big deal.
Logically I know that it’s not a big deal, I mean I just fought with Draven and a wolfed out Rebecca yesterday, surely I can handle public speaking right?
Plus I've done it before when I joined A Class. Again, I know this but some part of me is still really nervous.
As I’m about to try and talk myself down again, the slam of the stage door echos off the walls behind me.
Turning I’m once again face to face with Rebecca in all her evil bitch glory.
“What do you want?” I ask, annoyed that I have to deal with her right now, "aren't you supposed to be dealing with whatever punishment Lucius gave you?”
“Lucius?” Rebecca asked snarkily, “Damn I knew something was going on, I mean calling the headmaster by his first name so naturally, you have it screwing him.”
“Seriously, you're still on this?” I asked, frustrated that my own slip just gave her more fuel to meet me with.
“You came to find me because of that bullcrap again?”
Rebecca shakes her head, popping her gum, “nope, that was just an added bonus.”
“I came over because I just could sit quietly as you continue to ruin Lupine's reputation.”
“What the hell are you talking about?”
“Isn’t it obvious, you and your poor family are a blight on this school,” Rebecca states like it’s the most obvious thing to say.
“Like, seriously, if you accept that award and partner up with one of the top companies that this school pairs with, it will tarnish our prestige.”
“Like hell it will,” I said, scowling at her and her baseless crap, “I have proven myself, time and time again that I belong here.”
“That I belong in A Class.”
Rebecca laughs, “please, the only thing you’ve proven is that you know how to fool even the smartest of men around you.”
“Everything you’ve achieved is just off the backs of Lucius, or Draven, hell even Adrian.”
Shaking my head in disbelief, “wow, I really can not understand how you are this stupid to be spouting such baseless shit, and still think you're right.”
Rebecca scoffs, “please, you can try and flip this but it’s clear that you are just a poor, incompetent retch who needs to know her place.”
“That’s really funny coming from you considering that I’ve beaten you in every class and in every competition this last week.”
“So, between the two of us, who's the real incompetent loser who's tarnishing the school's reputation?” I asked, crossing my arms as I smirked at her.
Everything I said was the truth and I know my words would set Rebecca off. Because even though she knows that between the two of us, her actions have been the disgraceful ones.
