Chapter 22

I quickly try to tell Lucius about what just happened, worried that if I don't say something then Draven’s going to be in some serious trouble.

“That guy, Traver, I think that's what his buddies called him,” I start, pointing to the tall muscular Traven surrounded by his pack of friends, “they approached me to “hang out” and get to know them since I just joined A Class.”

“I politely declined, I mean I have a lot of studying to do.”

“Okay,” Lucius said, “so far I'm not seeing a problem that would’ve caused this reaction to occur.”

“Well, after I said no,” I said, glaring with frustration at Traven and his buddies, “he became quite insistent, and didn’t like my response, so he made a move to grab my shoulder when Draven stepped in.”

“I see,” Lucius said, turning to Traver, an unknown intense pressure suddenly filled this air, his aura overwhelming all the A Class students nearby.

Surprisingly I was unaffected as were the other students from class B and C that happened to be walking by. I wonder if I wasn’t affected due to my ability or if Lucius had control of how he utilized…whatever it was he was doing.

“We have a zero tolerance policy for harassment at Lupine,” Lucius said, voice like an extreme frost, “something you should be very aware of.”

“H-headmaster, we weren't harassing her,” Traver insisted, “we were just only trying to welcome her to A Class, you know make friends.”

“And I politely declined,” I cut in, very annoyed by his ignorance.

His gaze landed on me, choosing to ignore what I just said. He turned to glare at Draven, who for the most part looked completely unaffected by the whole thing.

Well except for his split lip, with a small blooming bruise across his chin, and a now rumbled uniform and a slightly disheveled look that was a stark contrast to his usual put together look.

“If our top student,” he continues sarcastically, anger and disgust seeping into his words, “misread things there wouldn't have been a problem.”

“It's his damn fault.”

“No it's not,” I insist, getting really pissed off.

“Shut up,” Traver grits out, scowling at me, “a stupid little poor person should have just accepted my nice offer of friendship.”

“No one's going to side with trash from the common classes, I might be punished but I'll be just fine.”

I just stared at this guy, my mouth almost fell open at the audacity that he had to say this stiffly in front of the headmaster.

Like hello? Did you forget that the head of the school is standing right next to you?

“You seem quite confident that the punishment I give you will be something minimal,” Lucius said, sternly crossing his arms, his sharp dominating gaze boring into Traver.

“If this had only been a minor incident, then perhaps, but due to you physically harassing another student, that is grounds for expulsion.”

“W-what?” Traver asked, the color quickly draining from his face.

“As of right now, you are hereby expelled from Lupine, and you will no longer be considered a student here.”

Lucius pulls out his phone, quickly typing out a message as he continues to talk. Traver looked at him with wide, fear filled submissive eyes.

“Y-you can't do that,” Traver said, panicking, “my father won't let you.”

“Your father has no pull over me or this school,” Lucius said, finishing up on his phone, “Lupine has very clear rules and even specific ones for those in A Class.”

“Not only did you knowingly harass Miss Sterling here, but you also started and engaged in fighting in front of other students, which is reckless and puts everyone in danger.”

“But Draven fought too,” Traver said, determined to try to drag Draven down with him, “so shouldn't he be expelled as well?”

“Other students are none of your concern.”

“Like hell it’s not,” Traver shouted back, quickly losing control of his explosive temper, “you can’t just play favorites here.”

“So, what if he’s the Alpha’s kid, he fought too, in front of humans just like me, so he should be punished harshly and out on his ass just like I am.”

“I get to decide what happens to the students in this school,” Lucius’s voice dropping to a low frosty growl, “no one tells me how to punish or handle the business regarding this school.”

“So, I suggest you back down immediately, before I lose what little patience I have left right now.”

The threat, though left unsaid, still hangs there in the air like a bright red sign, clearly warning any who dare to keep crossing the line that their end will be swift and merciless.

“Do you understand me?”

Traver stands there frozen in fear, it’s clear that he’s never faced this version of Lucius. To be fair, this was the first time that anyone has seen their headmaster like this. Even Draven was shifting uneasily in the face of such a dark, powerful force that left no room for argument.

“Y-yes, I u-understand,” Traver stutters out, his tall muscular form even seems to curl in on himself, wanting to be far away from the scary person standing before him.

In the snap of an instant headmaster Lucius is back, not the dark, menacing creature that seemed to be wearing his face there for a second. He ushers Draven and I outside the café as four security men walk in.

“These men here will take you to your dorm to pack up and then escort you off campus.”

With those final words Lucius steps out the door swinging closed, cutting off any more of Traver words.

“You two stop standing there staring," Lucius said, turning to Draven and I, “follow me.”

Turning we follow him quietly to a nearby building used for mock business meetings and group activities.

“Draven, your reckless behavior today is very out of character for you,” Lucius said, his earlier frosted look warmed some, "I don't expect this kind of behavior especially from you.”

“If you act recklessly like that again, regardless of the reason, you'll face a much harsher punishment than he did.”

Lucius looks at Draven and I, rubbing a hand over his stiffened brow.

“You know you can not risk exposing A Class, regardless if you're protecting your sister.”

The word sister feels weird and wrong when he says it. Draven shifts his body visibly tensing as he crosses his arm, the cold indifference slips back over his face like a well worn mask.

“There will be other situations like this that will happen,” Lucius continues, his gaze falling on me, “other students are going to wanna test you now that you joined A Class.”

I toy with my lip between my teeth, worry over taking the weird unease I was feeling.

“Katie needs to learn how to protect and take care of herself.”

Lucius words hang in the air between us. I know he's right but the thought of dealing with something like today again fills me with panic and dread.

“Someone as weak as her,” Draven said, scoffing sarcastically, “can't protect herself.”

Okay, what the hell?
