Chapter 19
The next two days were a blur. After I let Lucius know my decision, everything started moving fast.
Arriving at my new dorm I looked around in awe. It reminded me of the place I woke up after my drunken mistake with Adrian.
So, A Class dorms are essentially apartments. They're big, with the typical kitchen and living room/dining room open plan with two sprite bedroom suites.
“God, the elite really are different.”
Lucius texted me about this place as soon as I said I'd join. He prepared everything I needed, including all the shifter information that I would need.
So, when he called out of the blue just as I was looking around my new dorm, I was only slightly off balance. Talking to him still kind of put me on edge.
“Due to the special circumstances surrounding you,” Lucius said, “no one knows that you’ve joined A Class, apart from William and myself.”
“What?” I asked, surprised. I thought for sure WIlliam would at least tell Draven and Adrian.
“Get into your new uniform,” Lucius ordered, “it’s about time to introduce yourself to your new classmates.”
As I dug through my boxes and everything to get ready for my supposed “introduction” to A Class I went over all the shifter information in my head. I need to be prepared for whatever happens.
I remember reading about the many different races, werewolves, dragons, bear or beastmen, vampires, etc. I also learned that shifters tend to live in their human form but can shift into an animal.
They also have special abilities. Besides the typical super strength and speed, they have teleportation, mind control, mind reading, regeneration, and the ability to see future events.
Some even had darker natured abilities like the ability to possess another individual, the ability to manipulate and destroy organic matter.
As well as its counterpart ability that allowed for the manipulation and destruction of any non-organic matter.
People with such abilities were very rare and could be extremely dangerous, so they were closely monitored and kept away from most anything they could use their powers on.
There were also abilities like replication, the ability to create replicas of the person themself or other people and things, and some even landed in the realm of seduction.
Apparently the list was endless when it came to abilities shifters could possess, some even having more than one, which honestly took me a while to come to grips with.
Because as of right now, I possess at least one ability or power, and I have no idea what it is and how dangerous it can be.
Trying not to spiral again, which seems to be a constant occurrence lately I focused back on the task at hand and thinking about my new course load.
I found out that with all my regular courses, that now that I've joined A Class I’ll be taking combat training, ability training and bond management courses.
The last one, bond management, was a mystery to me, the others though were pretty straight forward. Although, I also don’t know what my ability is, I think that might be my toughest course right now.
The only thing that has me really excited about joining A Class is that so many well known companies make a point to reach out and hire from within A Class after graduation.
Which means I can land that sweet dream job of mine once I graduate and begin to live the life I want. So I’ll make sure to buckle down and study harder so that I can graduate successfully.
The sound of a campus wide announcement rang through the dorm rooms suddenly.
“All A Class members please report to the auditorium for a mandatory announcement, all other students and faculty please carry on with regular classes.”
Sighing I quickly tidied my hair and made sure I looked okay, grabbing my uniform jacket with the Lupine flower crest, the sign of A Class, I threw it over my arm and hurried off.
At the auditorium entrance I bump into Rebecca. The look of surprise she shoots me before quickly covering it up with her usual snarky, bitch attitude.
“Well isn’t this a surprise," Rebecca remarks, looking me over, “still alive I see, shouldn’t you have become wolf chow by now.”
I know I was speculating that it was Rebecca’s invitation that sent me to my almost death but to hear it confirmed like this was a lot.
“Why the hell do you keep repeatedly targeting me?” I demand, so pissed that I’m in this situation because of her.
“Someone lowly like you,” Rebecca replies, leaning closer, malice coating her voice, “should get the hell out of Lupine, you don’t belong here.”
“Well now that I’m A Class we’re equal,” I state, crossing my arms.
“Yeah right,” Rebecca starts, looking me over.
She probably just thought I snuck in or something to be close to Draven and Adrian. I’m really surprised by how easy she is to read.
“I’m not letting you sneak in here,” Rebecca said, grabbing my wrist and she starts to pull me over to one of the A Class teachers, “I’m reporting you.”
The tight hold she has on me is painful and I struggle to free myself when she stops moving, glancing up I see Draven standing in front of us.
“What’s going on?” Draven asked, tone indifferent but tinged with something I can’t quite place.
“I’m going to report this lying human,” Rebecca spits out pissed off, “she dared to claim she was joining A Class.”
“What-,” Draven starts only for the one A Class mentor’s voice to cut him off.
“Everyone, please be seated so that we may begin.”
All the students quickly grabbed a seat, the room quieting down for the mentor to continue.
“A Class will be welcoming a new classmate today,” the mentor announced.
Murmurs sounded throughout the auditorium, everyone was interested to find out just who their new A Class student was and what they were.
In the span of a few moments, speculation after speculation flitted through the room about what race this new classmate could be.
Some were hoping for another wolf or another bearman or beastkin. Others were hoping to be one of the rare almost extinct species like the sirens or one of the overseas races.
“Please join me on stage and introduce yourself to everyone, Miss Sterling.”
“Sterling?” a sandy blonde haired student asked, “do we know someone with that last name?”
I felt Draven and Adrian’s eyes on me the moment my name was said, but I focused on making my legs work.
Getting up I walked down the aisle, up to the stage. All talking stops and all eyes fall on me.
I was surprised when I made it up to the stage without face planting on the stairs. This was unbelievably nerve racking.
Taking the microphone, I took a deep breath and faced the crowd.
“Helloo, my name is Katie Sterling, I’m majoring in business administration, and I’ll be joining A Class, I look forward to getting to know and work with you all.”
A round of applause filled the auditorium after I finished, which to be honest I found surprising. Given my experience with A Class students up till now I felt that they would all probably be like Rebecca.
Maybe I was wrong.
“Congratulations for joining A Class Miss Sterling,” the mentor said, smiling at me.
I was going to head back to my seat when the all too familiar sight of Rebecca’s scowling face greeted me from where she stood up among the other students.
“How can she join A Class?” Rebecca asked, demanding answers, “she's human, no human can join A Class.”
