Her words hurt. Each aimed for my heart, and they cut deep. But I don't show it. Instead, I smile at the desperation that flashes in her eyes. "And you, my dear mate, dare to speak of my emotions, claiming they don't exist, while you lack the most important thing needed to survive. As it turns out, common sense is not as common as it seems. I wasn't supposed to be here; even my Beta advised me to stay away from my mate, for she is our enemy. But I broke my word and came to see her. I'm about to turn around and leave when she screams at the top of her lungs. "I have killed so many and will never stop. I expected a lot, but nothing even comes close to the words and promises she screams at me. That brief moment of shock gives my wolf enough time to take over my body. I try to force him back to regain control of my body, but it's too late. He stomps over to her, lifts my hand, and slaps our mate across her face. Our breathing is deep and rough, but somehow he manages to spit out the words I never thought I'd hear, certainly not from him. "One more time, mate, and I will reject you.
