Chapter 3 Unexpected Revelations

"Get off," Ethan growled.

Kate was startled by his harsh command and loosened her grip. But she knew better—he was just embarrassed.

After years of being at odds with Ethan, Kate understood him better than anyone. In her previous life, she had completely misunderstood him, always viewing him as a cold-hearted tyrant. She had been such a fool then, but things were different now.

"I'm not getting out. We haven't reached our destination yet," she answered sweetly, a slight smile playing at her lips.

Kate clung to him shamelessly like a koala bear. Exhausted by her persistence, Ethan eventually sighed and gave in.

Upon arriving at Ethan's mansion, he received a business call. Kate obediently sat on the sofa, waiting for him to finish. She watched him intently, absorbing every bit of his presence.

After Ethan hung up, he turned to find Kate resting her chin on her hands, staring at him unabashedly.

He rubbed his temples in irritation. "Why are you staring at me like that?"

"Because I like you."

"Really? How much?"

"Enough to want to sleep with you."

Ethan was completely stunned.

What had gotten into Kate? Did she even understand what she was saying? She seemed possessed—a completely different person.

Ethan frowned, picking up his phone and dialing. "Milan, find me a medium."

On the other end, Milan Runyon looked bewildered. "Mr. Levington, did I hear you correctly? A medium?"

"Yes, for an exorcism."

He needed to see if Kate was possessed by a ghost to be acting so strangely. Ethan continued to rub his temples while staring intently at Kate, who realized he still didn't believe her.

Decisive action was required. She moved forward, pushing him down onto the sofa.

"Kate, what are you doing now?" he admonished.

"I don't need a medium. I'm perfectly normal!" she declared, taking his phone and hanging up, then straddling him on the sofa. She leaned down and captured his lips with hers.

This move caught Ethan off guard. By the time he reacted, Kate's hands were already exploring his body. Her touches were clumsy and inexperienced—despite being engaged to Blake in her previous life, they had never been intimate.

She was still a virgin, willingly offering herself to him.

Kate was trying her best. Ethan, a healthy man in his prime, had limited resistance with a beautiful woman in his arms. Despite his reservations, desire began to take over.

He shifted positions, taking control of their rhythm, his kisses growing more intense. He skillfully unbuttoned her blouse with practiced ease. His lips moved to her neck, sending waves of pleasure through Kate's body. She instinctively held him tightly.

Their breathing grew heavier.

She responded unconsciously to his touch, but when his hand reached a particularly sensitive spot, she gasped—both embarrassed and eager.

Then Ethan stopped. His eyes were filled with desire, but something held him back. Kate felt restless and yearning.

She tried to pull him back, but Ethan seemed distracted, his gaze turning harsh.

"Were you this forward with him too?" he asked.

His tone carried possessiveness, displeasure, and a hint of joy at having her in his arms. Kate smiled.

"Are you jealous?"

Ethan frowned but didn't speak. Kate's smile deepened, and she embraced him tightly, her voice sweet as honey.

"I've never been like this with him. I only want you, Ethan. Only you, now and forever. I love you."

Ethan's heart tightened, his gaze growing more determined.

"Kate, when you lie, you should come up with a better excuse."

As if to punish her, his kisses grew more intense, yet his hands remained still. When they finally broke apart, she collapsed in his arms, seemingly drained of all energy.

She was on top, he below—a more intimate position. Ethan struggled to maintain control while trying to discern Kate's true intentions.

The next moment, Kate tore open his shirt.

Seeing his perfect abs and tanned skin, she couldn't help but stare wide-eyed. The living room suddenly fell silent.

Kate's gaze remained fixed on his exposed chest.

Ethan was momentarily speechless.

The way she looked at him reminded him of a predator eyeing its prey. Was she really doing this for Blake? Ethan's heart began to waver.

His eyes darkened dangerously. He quickly pulled Kate closer, roughly removing her jacket. What had been interrupted earlier now continued.

Kate was completely conquered by his pursuit, lost in passion, but just as they approached the final step, everything suddenly stopped.

Ethan helped her put her clothes back on, forcing her to sit up. Kate was still flushed, unsatisfied, and confused.

"Ethan," she called softly, her voice gentle and alluring.

Ethan froze instantly, desire evident in his eyes, but he still made no further move.

Kate gave him a pitiful look, as if he had abandoned her midway. Ethan's frown deepened, his resolve clearly shaken.

"Am I overthinking this? Kate wouldn't sacrifice herself for business. Then what is she after?" he thought.

Kate was about to answer that she simply wanted to be with him, but she realized something was off.

She was certain Ethan hadn't spoken aloud. So why could she hear his thoughts?

Kate furrowed her brow, trying to understand this phenomenon, but before she could investigate further, Ethan's phone rang, breaking the intimate atmosphere. From his serious expression, it seemed like an important business call.

Kate sat quietly, trying to hear his thoughts, but her own phone suddenly rang. Looking at the screen, her face darkened.

A video call from Blake.

How annoying!

She immediately hung up, but seconds later, the phone rang again. Not wanting to disturb Ethan's conversation, she reluctantly answered.

"Katie," Blake's saccharine voice came through.

Kate moved to the window, lowering her voice. "Blake, don't you have anything better to do? Stop bothering me."

She wouldn't miss an opportunity to insult him.

Blake's expression faltered, and he nearly lost his temper, but after a moment's thought, he restrained himself.

"Katie, stop this nonsense. You were too impulsive today. Your father is furious. Come home and apologize—I'll even put in a good word for you, and maybe you'll be forgiven."

"I am home. And stop calling me Katie. It gives me the creeps."

"Where exactly are you? You ungrateful child—where have you been hiding?" Richard snatched the phone, firing questions at her in anger.

Kate rolled her eyes, holding the phone at arm's length, not wanting to hear her father's tirade. Blake hadn't been paying much attention, but when she moved the phone away, he noticed her disheveled appearance. His face instantly darkened.

He started to question her, but Kate hung up before he could speak, then blocked his number.

Finally, some peace and quiet.

Unfortunately, barely ten minutes later, Blake suddenly appeared at Ethan's front door, knocking frantically.

Kate felt a headache coming on—she'd forgotten that she and Blake had previously shared their location information.

Just as she was considering calling security to report Blake for disturbing the peace, Ethan finished his call and opened the door.

The two men's eyes met, and an eerie silence fell over the mansion.
