Chapter 7: The Legendary Masochist Physique

The socialites who had attended the banquet at the Windsor Mansion had barely left when Dennis found out.

He learned that Rebecca had gone to Frederick's matchmaking event.

He also found out that Rebecca had stayed at the Windsor Mansion overnight, thanks to Elizabeth.

Though he didn't know what Elizabeth or Frederick had said to Rebecca, the thought of Rebecca showing up at that event, looking stunning, felt like a public slap in the face.

Dennis was seething with anger.

But when he saw Rebecca, saw that she had lost weight since the last time they met, his anger suddenly dissipated.

"Becca, I know you had no choice but to attend the banquet. I don't blame you!"

His gaze fell on Rebecca's exquisite face, and he realized that the women he'd been with recently were nothing compared to her.

Dennis stepped forward and sighed, looking troubled. "I'm already working on the Getty family matter. Just give me some time, okay?"

"Mr. Johnson, you must be kidding!"

Rebecca slowly stood up. "You must have received my message by now. Since you got it, you should know that I went to the penthouse to find you."

Mentioning the penthouse made Dennis's face change slightly.

The things he'd said while bragging with his buddies had been overheard by Rebecca.

He thought that with a billion-dollar debt, Rebecca would eventually come to him, even if she was angry at first.

So he hadn't rushed.

But he hadn't expected Rebecca to go straight to his Uncle Frederick's matchmaking event, ignoring him completely.

The thought of Frederick looking down at him with a cold expression, as if saying, "You can't even protect your own woman. What kind of man are you?" made Dennis's blood boil.

In Empire City, Rebecca could be involved with any man.

But not Frederick.

"Becca, I know you're just saying these things out of anger! It's all my fault, okay?"

Dennis reached out to grab Rebecca, his tone full of tenderness. "I have ten million dollars here. Take it for now. I'll figure out the rest, okay?"

"Dennis, we're already broken up!"

Rebecca dodged his hand, her expression icy. "From now on, please don't bother me anymore!"

"And..."

Facing Dennis's furious and embarrassed look, Rebecca smiled beautifully. "Next time we meet, remember to call me Aunt Rebecca. Otherwise, Frederick won't be happy."

Dennis was stunned. "What, what did you say?"

He thought Frederick must have made some promise to Rebecca, giving her the confidence to be so bold.

But he also thought Frederick might be unaware, and Rebecca was just bluffing.

Dennis wanted to ask more, to get Rebecca to clarify, but then he saw Isabella wave for a waiter, and the two of them moved to a private room upstairs.

Watching Rebecca's graceful figure disappear at the stairway, Dennis's eyes darkened.

In the CEO's office on the top floor of the Windsor Group, Mike walked in and met Frederick's cold gaze.

Mike quickly explained, "Mrs. Windsor said she was meeting a friend for coffee, and the friend will take her home later."

After speaking, Mike hesitated, unsure if he should continue.

"Speak!"

"Yes!"

Standing in front of the desk, Mike said, "The coffee shop is called Meet. Mrs. Windsor loves their lattes and used to go there with friends."

"Buy it and gift it to her! Consider it... a wedding present."

"Sure thing! Also..."

Mike cautiously added, "Mr. Johnson confronted Mrs. Windsor."

Frederick's eyes snapped up.

Mike quickly said, "He only stayed for a few minutes before leaving. They parted on bad terms."

After a long silence, Frederick looked at Mike. "From now on, if she's bullied or upset, you come and tell me. But if it's about who she meets, what she says, or what she does, you don't need to report it."

"Got it!"

"Mike!"

"Yes, sir?"

"I married her to protect her, not to keep her locked up like a bird in a cage."

"Understood, sir."

After coffee and lunch, Rebecca and Isabella stayed at Meet until the afternoon.

When they called for the bill, the manager of Meet hurried over.

"Ms. Getty, hello!"

Taking the bill from Rebecca and handing it to the waiter, the manager bowed to Rebecca. "Meet has been transferred to your name. The paperwork is being processed and will be completed by tomorrow. This private room will no longer be open to the public. Whether you're here for coffee or a small gathering with friends, you're welcome anytime."

Seeing Isabella's teasing expression, Rebecca quickly understood.

She dismissed the manager, took out her phone, and called Frederick.

She initially planned to thank him.

But hearing his deep, magnetic voice say, "What's up?" made her change her mind.

"Frederick..."

Rebecca spoke softly, "Can the coffee shop... be converted to cash?"

Frederick's gaze fell on the documents on his desk, thinking of the marriage agreement locked in the safe.

"Mrs. Windsor..."

Frederick's eyes darkened. "Let me remind you, even if I convert it to cash for you, every penny you have now counts as our joint marital property."

If you're thinking of saving up that billion dollars and then walking away one day, let me tell you, don't even dream about it!

Rebecca automatically filled in the unspoken part of Frederick's sentence, and she was furious. "Got it!"

Hanging up the phone, Rebecca turned to Isabella. "Izzy, let's go shopping!"

The red Ferrari sped towards the mall.

Frederick's phone buzzed.

[Your card ending in 1028 spent $6,000.00 on November 16 at 3:28 PM.]

Bought a bottle of perfume.

[Your card ending in 1028 spent $30,000.00 on November 16 at 3:56 PM.]

Bought a handbag?

[Your card ending in 1028 spent $190,000.00 on November 16 at 4:19 PM.]

What did she buy?

The phone screen lit up with transaction notifications, all from Rebecca.

Mike was nervous.

Looking up, he saw a brief smile flash across Frederick's face.

"Mike?"

"Yes, sir?"

"Replace Rebecca's card."

"Which one should I replace it with?"

Feeling a bit confused, Mike hesitated.

Meeting Frederick's cold gaze, he instantly understood.

"The unlimited black card, right? I'll get it done!"

The cold office instantly warmed up.

Seeing Frederick return to his documents, Mike knew he had understood correctly and left the office.

His mind was full of questions!

Rebecca doesn't spend money, Frederick is angry.

Rebecca goes on a shopping spree, Frederick seems happy?

Is this what they call... a masochistic personality?
