Chapter 244

Fiona POV

“You look gorgeous,” Mom whispers, tears brimming her eyes. I smile at her through the mirror and look down at my dress.

A week of shopping, I still didn’t find my dress, but after one visit to my mother, she had the perfect solution.

“You look more beautiful in that dress than I ever could have,” she tells me as she steps up to my side. I reach back, take her hand, and squeeze it. We’d spent the entire week after the Goddess brought her back spending time together. I caught her up on everything that happened, helped her reunite with my father- which would have happened anyways since he was halfway to Ethan’s pack when we met up with him.

Apparently, the moment the Goddess brought Mom back, he knew. Grandmother said he jumped up from the lunch table and took off running out the door. No one could stop him until he found us.

Their reunion, even though I’d never seen them together, was powerful. I cried, they cried, and I think Ethan even cried.

It’s not every day that people get reunited with their mate who died.

“It’s beautiful,” I murmur, smoothing my hand down my hips. The tight bodice is sprinkled with sparkles and little crystals, and it puffs out in a mermaid style at the bottom. It’s both simple and elegant, the most gorgeous dress I’ve ever seen.

Unlike the dresses I’d tried on at the store, I knew immediately. All it took was one look at the dress to know it was perfect for me. The fact that it was also the dress my mother wore when she married the man she loves made it even more special.

“Are you ready?”

My dad stands in the doorway, a smile pulling his lips up as he looks at the two of us.

“Dad.”

“You look amazing, Fiona. Almost as beautiful as your mother,” he tells me tenderly while wrapping his arm around my mother’s waist. A soft kiss on her cheek makes her smile before both of them look at me.

“Thank you, and yes. I’m ready.”

“Then let’s get you to your mate. I have insider information that Alpha King Ethan is more than ready to march himself in here to get you.”

I laugh, knowing that Ethan would do just that if he thought it wouldn’t ruin the wedding. We both want this wedding to happen, and I’ve planned so much for it that he would never do something to mess up our big day.

I’d purposefully blocked our bond so he wouldn’t feel any of my anxiety. It’s a good kind of anxiety, but I know that if he felt anything other than happiness, he would have already busted the door to my room in.

“Who’s holding him back?” I ask on a chuckle as my parents help me down off the little platform where I got dressed.

“Your brother, the Silverclaw Pack’s Beta, and his head Gamma, Laxus,” he answers. “I was helping too, but then I left the task to them so I could come get you, my beautiful daughter.” I giggle when he kisses my cheek playfully, and I soak in the feeling of happiness that settles over me.

I didn’t think this was possible, to feel this happy, but here I am, about to get married to the man I love with both of my parents and all the people I care about around me. Just a few months ago, I thought my life was going down the drain.

Now, everything has changed.

Ethan was, and is, exactly what I always needed.

Ethan POV

“We should go to her,” Zev grumbles, pacing in my mind. All day, we’ve been separated from Fiona. All day, she’s had the mental shield securely in place between us, not letting me mentally contact or feel her.

It’s been torture.

More than once, I tried to go to her, but Aaron, Maximus, Ryan, and Laxus have kept me locked down in my dressing room. She wasn’t even fifteen feet down the hallway, and I couldn’t go to her.

I shoot a glare at the men standing a few feet away from me, but I feel no real anger. The anticipation of seeing Fiona is too much for me, and as her scent grows stronger- closer- I dig my fingers into my palms.

The music and lights dim slightly, and everyone in the room stands as the doors at the back of the throne room push open.

Like an angel, Fiona steps through the door, and she’s all I can see. Her beauty. Her light. Her smile. It all shines and has me wondering how I ever thought she wasn’t the one for me.

She’s the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen, and she’s all mine. My woman. My mate. My wife.

“Ours,” Zev growls, urging me to go to her.

“Ours,” I agree, though, I don’t listen to his urging. I stay where I am, watching with my breath caught in my chest as she comes closer and closer.

She almost seems to float down the aisle as everyone around us fades away. The dress she’s wearing has her looking more like an angel in the white gown. Honestly, I couldn’t care less about her dress.

The only thing I care about is her, my mate.

When she reaches the dais, I bow respectfully to her parents and reach my hand out to Fiona. I ignore everything else as she lays her hand in mine, the familiar shock of electricity jolting through my body as we touch.

“Our mate,” Zev growls, rubbing against the bond.

A returned feeling of warmth ripples between us, and I smile. Her wolf is just as eager to be back with us as we are to be back with her. Waiting all day felt more like waiting for a year.

Being away from Fiona will always have me longing to reunite.

Luckily, after today, we won’t have to worry about being apart. The wedding may be a formality for Lycans, but it’s what Fiona wanted, and whatever she wants, I’ll do my best to provide.

“Anything?” She asks through our bond when she stops beside me.

“Anything. Name it, and it’s yours,” I vow, putting every ounce of genuine truth into my words.

A soft smile pulls at her lips, and she squeezes my hand, questioning, “What if I want your heart?” The words whispered in my mind send a shiver down my spine, and I smile down at her. My mate watches me, waiting silently for my answer, and who am I to deny her?

So, I lean in slightly, sending my answer into her mind, “You already have it. My heart is yours forever.”
