POV da Leah

Ainda eram as primeiras horas de uma manhã brilhante, e Aaron e Maggie estavam ao lado esquerdo da minha cama, de mãos dadas.

O rosto de Maggie ficava mais pálido a cada olhada para mim, assumindo uma cor semelhante a um pano branco desbotado. Aaron, seu marido, estava basicamente segurando-a, e por isso, toda a sua atenção não estava em mim, mesmo que eu fosse a causa da palidez no rosto dela.

“Encontrar um companheiro seria de alguma ajuda para ela.” A voz dela tinha um tom choroso, mas ela não estava em lágrimas.

Se a voz dela pudesse ter uma cor, estaria desbotando da mesma forma que seu rosto.

Ela desviou o olhar de mim para olhar para Aaron, levantando ligeiramente a cabeça para manter contato visual com ele.

“Acho que deveríamos dar mais tempo para ela relaxar.” Ele tocou meu couro cabeludo em forma de uma massagem suave. “Ela pode saber algo que precisa fazer.”

“Ela não conseguiu lembrar a outra parte do sonho.”

As vozes deles eram fracas para meus ouvidos, pois eu estava entre o sono e a vigília.

Ela saiu do meu lado para caminhar na direção da fonte do som. Estranhamente para mim, depois que ela saiu, o som se transformou em passos se aproximando.

Ela estava longe na escuridão, e não havia como eu chamá-la.

Virei-me para ver quem estava se aproximando de mim. Era uma pena que a escuridão me impedisse de ver claramente.

“Quem é você?” Perguntei.

Por que alguém estaria fora a essa hora?

Era um homem vestindo um terno preto com uma espada pendurada ao lado do cinto. Sua roupa não era nova, mas me dava uma sensação ominosa.

Como se minha pergunta o tivesse acionado, ele puxou a espada e correu em minha direção.

Era meu sonho, e pelas experiências normais dos outros, eu não tinha esperança de escapar dele.

Sonhar com eventos futuros era minha habilidade inata, e eles sempre se tornavam realidade. Eu poderia dar uma longa lista de pessoas cujo destino foi selado pelos meus sonhos.

Quando saí do banheiro, ouvi a voz de Octavier.

“Raguel está esperando por você.”

Quase caí no chão, pois minha cabeça parecia pesada demais para meu corpo carregar.

“Bom dia.” Murmurei. “Estou saindo.”

Talvez ela tenha notado o tom da minha voz e decidido entrar, em vez de ficar na porta.

Ela me olhou de cima a baixo. “Você não parece estar em boa forma.” E então, tocou minha cabeça. “Você precisa comer antes de sair.”

“Não, estou bem.”

Octavier era minha amiga, uma das filhas dos gammas, e treinávamos juntas. Seu chamado era para eu ir ao treino.

“Por que não come?”

Eu estava acostumada com suas perguntas como forma de insistir, mas não cedi. Não estava acostumada a comer cedo, especialmente antes do treino.

“Estamos esperando por você.” Sua voz saiu suavemente, dando um arrepio na minha cabeça.

Ela deu alguns passos em direção à porta, voltou para mim, antes de finalmente sair.

Vesti-me para encontrar Raguel no salão de treinamento que tínhamos em casa, e como de costume, ela estava vestida com uma roupa branca, a mesma que sempre instruía Octavier e eu a usar. Ela era nossa treinadora especial.

Inclinei a cabeça quando ela olhou para mim, e então, ela sempre se aproximava para levantar minha cabeça.

Foi diferente.

“Você está bem?” Ela colocou a palma da mão no meu rosto.

O olhar em seus olhos passou uma mensagem óbvia para mim—não havia como esconder completamente minhas emoções. Era melhor eu ter algo para disfarçar.

“É uma dor de cabeça matinal.”

“Dor de cabeça matinal?” Suas sobrancelhas se arquearam.

“Sim, mas já passou.”

Achei melhor me resgatar de mais perguntas.

Estávamos prestes a começar a primeira sessão, e Maggie e Aaron vieram fazer o que mais amavam—atuar como espectadores. Qualquer coisa pela filha deles.

Tentei fingir, mas não consegui. O medo me fez cair no chão quando ela se aproximou de mim, e então, todos perceberam que eu tinha um problema. Não demorou muito para eu estar sentada ao lado de Maggie.

“Conte-me.” Seus olhos me examinavam, prestando muita atenção ao meu rosto.

Naquele momento, não consegui guardar para mim. Contar tudo sobre o sonho era a única opção.

Todos me encararam, observando como meu rosto ficava pálido a cada segundo que eu falava.

“Não está completo,” eu disse. “Não consigo lembrar a outra parte.”

Foi quando me levaram para o meu quarto, e Maggie e Aaron não puderam evitar ficar ao meu lado enquanto eu tentava relaxar.

“Podemos confiar em um companheiro?” Aaron perguntou.

Abri os olhos, sentei na cama e encostei as costas na parede. “Eu teria que encontrar um companheiro.”

Minha voz estava fraca, e parecia que minha sentença de morte havia começado.
