Chapter 102

Sarah POV

Blorp69: Grace, you’re so much prettier than your sister. Make sure people tell you that.

JaneSillwell: Charlotte Cho is an alpha? OMG WTF?

GinnyWolf: Creepy much? @Blorp69

OGDIG: [link] Interview with Sarah Astor’s old neighbor Mrs. Thaller.

JohnPPPPP: You been living in a pineapple under the sea or something, JaneS?

Dixyland: Has anyone else wondered what life must be like for her? One moment, she’s this nobody living with her adopted daughter, and the next moment she’s the goddess-mother of Alpha Zane’s household. I would be completely freaking out.

BetttyBloop: Why does she wear that brown suit all the time? Its like some sort of nun habit.

Blorp69: I can see you’re lonely, Grace. Who’s taking care of you?

TrumpetFlower21: She probably feels like she won the lottery.

ShaneBlock: I don’t think she’s unhappy. I mean, the money alone has to be pretty wonderful.

Blorp69: I love your pink dress.

ShaneBlock: The lottery? Maybe.

GinnyWolf: She’s five. Srsly, cut it out. @Blorp69

I scowled at my phone. It wasn’t just the sexual innuendo of this “Blorp” person’s name. Those were creepy comments, and I was gladder than ever Grace wasn’t into social media yet.

A notification popped up, and soon I was looking at a photo of myself taken outside where my neck was obscured by my jacket. There were hundreds of comments about how I was hiding a mating bite. What was wrong with people?

I made a mental note to show off my neck the next time I was off the property and set up my phone to ping me if “Blorp69” posted a new comment.

Ping, went my phone.

Blorp69: Seriously, you’re the cutest thing ever. How could they have let a rogue hurt you? [photo]

OK, this wasn’t good. I left my bedroom and went to knock on the door Zane’s study.

“Come in,” he called.

“Look at this, please,” I said and handed over my phone. “This online rando has a photo of Grace from the hospital.”

He looked and picked up his phone. I saw Travis was on speed dial. “Yes.” He looked up at me. “He saw.”

I nodded, somewhat mollified that Travis was on the ball.

He listened for a moment. “Yes, immediately. Good.” He pressed the button to end the call.

“He’s on it.”

“Good.” I took a step back and evaluated the view. I was almost always looking up at Zane; it was fun to look down. His thick black hair really set off those blue eyes, and he was so comfortable in his own skin. In that moment, I was wildly attracted to him.

“What are you thinking about?” he asked me.

I smiled.

It was wonderfully freeing to walk around his desk and get myself situated on my knees. Hmm, it wasn’t terribly comfortable though. Maybe I should keep a little pillow in here.

I reached over to the waistband of his pants and had his button open before he seemed to realize what was going on.

“Sarah,” he grumbled, but then he moaned as I pulled out the long, lovely length of him. He was so strong, so forceful as an alpha, but here he was tender. I admired him and then took him in my mouth.

“Sarah,” he hissed, which was quite flattering. He was thick and heavy on my tongue, a little salty, and as I tongued his slit I thought of how his eyes were probably going glassy. His ragged breathing let me know he was enjoying everything just fine, and I swirling my tongue around him several times.

I brought up a hand and gently touched his balls, so soft and covered in downy hair. He gasped and spread his knees a little wider, and I thought about how much I liked this moment, this power to make him feel good. I used my tongue to find that little spot behind the head and raked back and forth.

Zane was so good, not thrusting into my mouth or grabbing my head. In fact, his hands were on his hips, curling and uncurling with my movements. I closed my eyes and just enjoyed being connected to this extraordinary man.

“Sarah,” he warned, and I wanted to laugh. I sucked hard, and then he was completing himself in my mouth. He tasted vaguely of cinnamon.

I sat back, tucked him away, and looked up at him through my lashes.

“Enjoy that?” I asked.

“You’re a damn menace,” he growled.

I laughed and got up to my feet. It was wonderful to look down on him again, his expression so wrecked and his body so lax. For the first time, I let myself think of how much I loved him and how much I wanted to make him happy.

Then he frowned and asked, “Should we tell Grace?”

“No,” I said. “But it’s probably time she and Chloe started to see online comments just to learn how asinine they tend to be.”

Zane grumbled something, then said more forcefully, “I hate the idea that my daughters are out there for people like that to take shots at just because they can.”

“I seriously need to work on my skills. You should not be this coherent right now.”

“You sent me to the moon, darling, and it was great not having to worry about whether you were going to transform and bite my dick off, but Grace will always be my vulnerable spot.”

“I get that, and I worry about her too. I know you talked about her difficult birth, but I’m still not sure just why she’s so tentative with the world.”

Then I took a moment. “Bite your dick off? Is that actually a thing?”

“It can be, but my point was that Chloe has been wonderful for her,” Zane said, looking down at his hands. “As have you.”

“She’s been great for Chloe.”

He frowned up at me. “Really?”

“Definitely. Chloe’s always been a bit brash, and I can see her weighing her words more carefully these days. She’s realized the power she wields, comparing herself to her sister, and she’s just gentler with people overall. I’m very pleased.”

Hans knocked on the door and entered. “Lainey Wilson is here to see you,” he announced while looking at me.

“We might ask her about Grace,” Zane said.

“She’d have Grace set up with merch,” I said with a roll of my eyes. “’I’m a Little Alpha’ t-shirts.”

He laughed.

Lainey was waiting for me in the sitting room, laptop open. I smiled.

“Grace has a stalker,” she told me.

“We noticed. Travis is on it.”

She nodded. “Good. Meanwhile, you need to make a statement about online safety and keeping the internet an open and free environment.”

I sighed, but this was my life now, and I had no real cause to complain.
