Chapter 11 With him again
Suddenly, the door opens, and Spencer stands there in only his shorts. His sculpted upper body captivates me, leaving me momentarily speechless. He looks at me with a frown.
"I am fine. Why?" Spencer asks.
I feel a little embarrassed. "I just didn’t know why you disappeared so suddenly," I reply. Spencer smiles at me while stepping out of his room and closing the door behind him.
"I didn’t want to join you in my suit; they were quite expensive. Most of them were chosen by mum, and I didn’t want them to get soiled with oil and kitchen mess."
I nod in understanding as I walk back to the kitchen, with Spencer following me. However, the intimate moment we shared earlier now feels distant. Maybe I was overthinking it. It was my imagination that led me to believe Spencer had looked at me the way a man looks at a woman.
"What about your boyfriend?" he asks, breaking the silence while I cook. I shrug indifferently, trying to hide my curiosity about why he is interested in my romantic relationship while I was away.
"There was no point in staying in that relationship. He’s British, and he wanted to stay there, while I belong here."
He crosses his arms and stares at me. "You left him so easily, and I don’t see any sorrow when you talk about him."
I smile a little. "Maybe he didn’t mean that much to me."
His frown deepens. "Then why were you with him for so long?"
I shrug again. "I don’t know. I thought I was in love, but in the end, it turned out I was wrong." I lied.
"Why would you be with someone if you aren’t in love?" he asked, staring at me like he wanted to read my face.
I smile again. "I don’t know," I said, taking the pan off the stove. "What about you? Do you have someone?"
He shakes his head and grabs two plates. "No, I think I got hurt enough last time. Right now, I’m okay being single."
I frown. Hearing about that bitch who hurt him makes me feel sorry for him. "What do you mean, you got hurt?"
He chuckles, but it’s not a happy laugh. "She was cheating on me."
"What? I’m sorry, Spencer. If she were so stupid, then it’s better to be out of that relationship."
"True," he replies with a sigh. "I think she just wanted my money."
"Probably," I nod, taking the two plates and walking to the table with them.
We sit down and start eating.
"This is so good," he says after tasting the food.
"Do you think so?" I ask, and he nods in agreement.
"Yes, this is delicious."
I smile, happy that he likes the food I made. After we finish eating, he helps me clear the table, and we tidy up the kitchen together.
"And how is Ethan?" I ask to break the silence. He smiles.
"Ethan is Ethan. He likes the parties at the university and is enjoying the freedom of dating without being in a relationship."
My eyes widen in surprise. "What? Does he like that?" I ask. He nods and grins.
"He said he wanted to come over today, but he also had a date. He considered cancelling, but it seems the woman convinced him." He chuckles, and I laugh with him.
After tidying up, we lie down on the sofa and watch a movie. The plot doesn’t captivate me. All I can think about is getting closer to Spencer. I make myself comfortable, resting my head on his thigh. I questioned inside if it was too much since we were both adults now, but I didn't think my closeness bothered him.
Soon, he puts his palm on my shoulder, and we continue watching the film. When the movie ends, I sit up and look at him.
"I’m tired. I should go lie down."
He frowns. "Isn’t it a little early?" he asks.
"I think it’s the time difference. It will probably take me a few days to adjust to the time here again."
He looks at me as if he understands. "Yeah, I didn’t think of that," he says before standing up. "I’ll go lie down as well, then."
I nod. "Good night," I say, leaving the living room.
I walk to my temporary room and close the door behind me. Slowly approaching the bed, I lie down. The cosy, comfortable bed makes me smile, and being here, with Spencer just a room away, fills me with genuine happiness.
I lie on my back and gaze at the ceiling. Although I felt tired a moment ago, I now feel quite awake.
I checked the time and saw it was nine p.m. I had a thought cross my mind, but I wasn't sure if I should go through with it. I contemplated it for a while, then finally got out of bed.
Taking a deep breath, I exhaled before quietly knocking on Spencer's door.
"Come in!" he answered shortly. I opened his door to find him in bed, scrolling through his mobile phone.
"I can't sleep," I whispered.
"You should sleep, Cora! We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow," he said, trying to be funny.
I chuckled. "I just wonder if I could be your little sister tonight?" I asked him, acting shy, and he rolled his eyes and then smiled.
"Of course," he said. I wasn't sure if I had imagined it, but he couldn't take his eyes off my chest, likely catching a glimpse under my tank top as I climbed beside him. I couldn't help but smile when I turned my back on him.
Spencer turned the light off, then took the position that we used to sleep in. I pushed my butt to his lower abdomen and pretended to fall asleep. However, my eyes opened up secretly when I felt his getting harder inside his boxers. After I experienced how much better sex was with someone else, I became wet instantly. My need started to torture me, and I didn't know what to do, knowing he was in the same state.
