Chapter 178
Aiden’s POV
“Aiden don’t believe the articles. It has to be a misunderstanding. You know Carol. She would never do something like that!”
I knew what Fiona was saying because I too believed that Carol would never betray me like that. But that also didn’t explain the article. My heart was hammering against my chest as I kept reading the words on the page. The hockey player was listed as Allen, and it said that Carol was having his baby. But Carol would never do that.
“I need to speak with her before I assume anything,” I said through my teeth. Carol being pregnant would explain why she’s been getting sick lately and the strange cravings she’s had. Now that I thought more about it, the signs were all there. I was stupid to not think about it before.
Carol and I had never discussed kids; it just never came up between us and I feel guilty about that. Did she want kids? Could she see herself as a mother? Carol was very maternal, and she proved that every day when she did Luna duties. The kids around the pack loved her and she seemed to enjoy spending time with them as well. Personally, I would love to be a dad. I needed an heir for the pack anyway, but more than that, I wanted my bloodline to continue. I wanted to raise a mini-me and/or a mini-Carol. I wanted to be a family more than anything in this world. I wanted that family with my wife and Luna.
The thought of her carrying my pup filled me with excitement, but the fact that everyone is thinking this pup belonged to another man infuriated me. My wolf was agitated over this too and he wanted to kick Allen’s ass.
I get that it probably wasn’t his fault though. According to Coach Sanchez, he brought her ot the hospital after she passed out in her office. He was just there with her to support her while the doctor figured out what was wrong. But then why hadn’t he called me? Why hadn’t the doctor called me?
I was their Alpha; I should have been aware of this entire situation. I clenched my fists as I thought about them keeping this from me. This was the most important thing in my life, and yet my wife wasn’t in my arms and the doctor didn’t think to inform me. Allen didn’t think to inform me.
I get that he was new to the pack, but I was still his Alpha, and he was taking care of his Luna. I should have been the first person he called.
“There’s something else you need to know,” Oliver said.
“Oliver, don’t,” Fiona said. “She didn’t want him to know!”
“Which is exactly why we need to tell him, Fi. He’s my Alpha and I need to be better than my father and Mike. I need to tell him the truth about what we saw,” Oliver said.
This shut Fiona up immediately and she gazed at the ground, sheepishly.
I narrowed my eyes at him.
“What exactly do I need to know?” I asked, my tone hardening.
Oliver ran his fingers through his hair and sighed.
“We went out the bar the other day and when we got there, we saw Allen forcing his mouth onto Carols.”
A roar, out of my control, escaped my mouth as my eyes blazed with fury. My wolf was seconds away from taking control and killing someone.
“What exactly do you mean?” I growled.
“He kissed her,” Oliver explained. “But it was clear Carol didn’t consent to it. He was incredibly drunk, and she tried to push him off. He was relentless so I intervened.”
“He kissed my wife?” I said through my teeth. “At the bar?”
I was seeing fucking red. I was going to tear that man’s throat out. Nobody touches my mate and gets away with it!!
“Yes,” Oliver said, sighing.
“She didn’t want us to tell you because she didn’t want to make you mad. Allen was just drunk and made a mistake,” Fiona said, wrapping her arms around her body. “It was a mistake.”
“No,” I said, glaring at her, my wolf on the edge of taking over. “He kissed what was mine and I won’t let him get away with that. You should have told me sooner.”
Olver protectively stepped in front of his mate; understandably so. He probably thought I looked unhinged and unstable. I was feeling both of those things, so it was better that he shielded Fiona from me.
“I am going to kill him,” I vowed.
Oliver nodded.
“I would do the same if a man kissed my mate,” Oliver agreed. “But first, we should probably figure out what’s going on with Carol and her pregnancy. Have you called the doctors yet?”
I shook my head and grabbed my phone. I immediately called the pack doctor and asked him if he’d heard from Carol.
“She hasn’t contacted you yet?” The doctor asked, seemingly confused.
“No,” I growled. “Nor have you!”
“She wanted to tell you in person. She asked me not to say anything until she was able to speak with you. She went right to the packhouse after her appointment today so she could tell you the good news.”
My heart weighed heavily in my chest.
“What are you talking about? She went to the packhouse? When was her appointment?”
“A couple of hours ago,” the doctor answered. “She should have been there by now.”
“Who did she leave with?” I asked, already knowing the answer, but I needed the doctor to confirm it.
“She left with Allen, Alpha.”
That was all I needed to know; I hung up with phone without another word and slammed it on my desk, cracking the wood in the process.
Oliver took a step back, taking Fiona with him. He saw my wolf in my eyes and knew the danger zone well. I didn’t get like this often, which made him fear me all that much more.
“Maybe she went home?” Oliver suggested.
“Yeah, I’ll check the penthouse. You two stay here in case she returns.”
Oliver nodded in agreement, and I rushed out of the packhouse. It didn’t take me long to get to the penthouse but before I could get inside, a feminine voice called me from nearby.
“Aiden!”
I paused and saw Katrina walking towards me.
“I just saw the news and I wanted to make sure you were okay,” she said as she walked towards me.
“Now is not a good time, Katrina,” I told her as I started to walk into the apartment. She grabbed my arm and stopped me.
“I just can’t believe she would do that to you though. Are you okay? I’m so sorry, Aiden.”
“Let’s get one thing straight, Katrina. My wife didn’t do anything. If she’s pregnant with anyone’s child, then it’s mine. I’m going to speak with her before I assume anything.”
“She’s not home though!” Katrina said, making me freeze as I turned to face her.
“What do you mean she’s not home?” I asked through my teeth.
“I saw her leaving in another car. I think it was that guy Allen’s car. I was only coming to check on you and I saw them leaving together,” she said, wrapping her arms around her body. “I’m so sorry to have ot tell you that.”
I could barely keep my wolf under control so when she wrapped her arms around my body and held herself close to me, I was completely frozen and numb to everything around me. Could it be true that Carol ran away with another man?
No. She would never do that! I refused to believe she would do that. I needed to speak to her. We just got married for crying out loud!
“Aiden, let me comfort you…” Katrina breathed, nuzzling her face against my neck, bringing me back to the present moment.
I stepped away from her, forcing her hands off me.
“I need to speak with her,” I said through my teeth, and I ran into the penthouse.
…..
Third Person POV
Katrina watched with aggravation as Aiden ran into the penthouse. She was so close to getting him to hold her, but the attempt was futile. A presence was felt from behind her; she didn’t need ot turn to know who it was.
“Did you get the picture?” Katrina asked, her voice kept low, and her eyes fixated on the building in front of her.
“Yes, mam,” the woman said behind her. “It looks as if you were embracing one another with the angle I took.”
Katrina finally pulled her gaze away from the building and looked at the picture, a smile creeping across her lips.
“Perfect,” she breathed. “Send that to me right away. This picture is the last piece of the puzzle needed to make sure Carol stays away.”
The woman nodded.
“Yes mam,” she said.
Moments later, Katrina’s phone dinged. She smiled when she saw the picture on her screen and without much thought, she sent it to the person in her mind.
