Chapter 132

Carol’s POV

As soon as we saw the helicopter, we quickly dressed. My heart was racing with happiness, and I waved my arms in the air, just as Aiden was doing.

“It’s the Capitols!” He told me, pointing at the logo on the side.

Oliver’s head popped out of the door, and he waved back just as the pilot lowered the helicopter onto the sand. The propellers whipped my hair around my face and threw sand in my face, but I didn’t care.

We were finally getting off this island. We were saved.

The pilot cut the engine and then followed Oliver out of the helicopter.

“Thought we’d never find you,” Oliver said, patting Aiden on the back. “What the hell happened?”

“Where’s the rest of the plane that went down?” The pilot asked. “There’s no trace of it. Only the head of the plane.”

“It must have sunk,” Aiden said, glancing at the head of the plane. “I’m just lucky the head stayed floating, or we might have been stuck here forever.”

The pilot nodded.

“I’m a medic as well, I brought some tools to look you both over. You’ve been here for a few days. I can’t imagine you are unharmed,” he said, going back to the helicopter to grab his medic bag.

I leaned into Aiden while he explained to Oliver some of what had happened since we left the King’s empire.

“How the hell did the pilot die?” Oliver asked, his brows furrowed together in confusion.

Aiden was quiet for a moment, trying to figure out how much to say to him without revealing the entire truth about the King’s Beta.

“I’m not sure,” Aiden settled on; even though we were pretty certain the pilot was poisoned, explaining it to Oliver would be difficult. “We should get the Capital authorities here right away though. We need to get this investigated.”

Oliver nodded and pulled out his phone.

“I’ll give them a call; you should let Calvin take a look at you though. He’s serious when he says he’s a medic. He’s new to our pack. We took his medical copter. I figured it would be good to have a medic here vs. a regular pilot.”

Aiden nodded and patted him on the back.

“You did good, Oliver. I’m not sure what I’d do without you,” Aiden praised.

Oliver smirked.

“Being stranded on an island made you sentimental,” he teased.

“Just appreciative of life and those in my life” Aiden shrugged.

Oliver’s gaze softened and then he nodded before he turned to make that phone call.

Not before long, Calviin the medic pilot came back with his bag and did some minor exams. He brought us water bottles as well and we both chugged them in a gulp.

“You both seem fine, just dehydrated and could use showers,” he said, humor in his young eyes.

“Ya think,” I teased.

Calvin looked to be in his early 30s but it seemed he knew what he was doing.

“Hey, Cal. Can you take a look at the pilot?” Oliver asked.

We looked over at him and he was peering into the head of the plane; his face ashen.

Calvin nodded and went over to him. We heard his sharp intake of breath before he got to examining. After a few minutes, Calvin returns.

“I’ll need to do some more testing, but it looks like he was poisoned,” he stated simply, packing up his medic badly.

I looked at Aiden who didn’t look surprised; Oliver on the other hand looked mortified.

“Who would poison a pilot just before take-off?!” Oliver asked, his face paling even more by the second.

“That’s what I’d like to know,” Cal agreed. “It almost seems like someone was deliberately trying to you both.”

I swallowed the lump that had formed in my throat, and I kept my eyes fixed on the ground.

“How about we talk about this when we get back? I’d like to shower and see my father. Has he woken yet?”

“I haven’t been there in a couple of days because I was busy searching for you,” Oliver said, shaking his head with dismay all over his face. “I haven’t heard from your mother.”

“We should get back,” I suggested quickly.

“Aren’t you worried about someone trying to kill you?” Oliver asked, narrowing his eyes at us. “You don’t seem surprised to hear this? Why is that?”

Aiden’s body tensed and he swallowed hard, his Adam’s apple bobbing.

Oliver raised his brows, the look of astonishment clear on his face.

“Because you already knew,” he breathed, shaking his head with his lips pressed in a thin line. “How did you already know this information? What aren’t you telling me?”

“I promise we will talk when we get back,” Aiden said, putting a hand on Olver’s shoulder.

Oliver’s brows furrowed.

“You’re in danger. As your Beta…”

“As my Beta, you trust me,” Aiden said calmly. “I will tell you everything in due time. But for right now we need to get back.”

Oliver didn’t look pleased by this, but he soon nodded.

We boarded the helicopter and a couple hours later we were arriving back in the capital. Adien and I said our goodbyes to a very upset Oliver before we went to his penthouse to shower.

“He’s upset with us,” I said as soon as we were alone. “We have to tell him the truth.”

“And we will. But for right now, we need to make sure the capital is safe,” Aiden explained. “While you take a shower I’m going to get Mike, his uncle, into custody.”

I frowned and wrapped an arm around his waist.

“I was hoping you’d join me in the shower,” I told him; my cheek growing pink.

A smirk appeared on his lips as he closed the gap between us and kissed me deeply. His tongue parted my lips as he searched my mouth curiously. I breathed him in, basking in his incredible scent and the comfort that he brought me. The kiss was over way too soon and I found myself whimpering and wanting so much more.

Aiden chuckled and kissed me gently one last time before stepping away from me, leaving me feeling cold and vulnerable. I wrapped my arms around my body, pouting up at his smiling face.

“Later,” he assured me. “I have to take care of some things that can’t wait.”

I sighed, knowing he was right.

I went into the bathroom and as soon as I got into the bathroom and saw my reflection, I nearly screamed. I couldn’t believe that was me looking back at me. I was pale as a ghost, my skin was so dry that it was cracked, my hair was matted together, and even my eyes were pale. I didn’t look like me at all; I looked like a complete zombie.

I couldn’t believe that Aiden even touched me after I looked like this. I shuddered at the thought, and I quickly got into the hot shower.

It felt amazing to finally have clean water to bathe in. The heat of the shower relaxed my every bone. I scrubbed my body clean and brushed my matted hair out in the shower.

Once I was satisfied, I stepped out of the shower and wrapped my body in a towel. Looking at myself in the mirror, I sighted in relief that I looked like my old self again. I even had some color on the back of my cheeks.

I left the bathroom and entered the bedroom only to find it empty. I went into one of the drawers and grabbed a tank top and then I grabbed some shorts to put on. I tied my hair into a ponytail and left the bedroom. Aiden was standing in the middle of the living room with only a towel wrapped around his waist.

My mouth nearly dropped open at the sight of him. He must have used the guest bathroom to shower. He had beads of water dripping down his broad chest and across his abs. I licked my lips as my eyes trailed down his body and towards his happy trail. His towel was barely hanging onto his hips, and I could almost see the outline of his manhood.

It took everything I had not to rip that towel off his body and have my way with him. But I restrained myself from doing so because I quickly saw that he was on the phone. His face caused me to pause completely. He had such a serious look on his face that my brows furrowed together, and I froze in my spot.

“Okay, yeah. We will be down there as soon as we can,” Aiden said and then he hung up.

“What’s going on?” I asked, unable to hide the worry in my voice.

“For starters, the Investigative Force has been alerted and they are going to look into Mike,” he explained. I nodded, already expecting that. “But I just got off the phone with my mother.”

I raised my brows.

“And?” I urged.

“We need to get to the hospital right away,” he told me, walking past me and toward our bedroom, then he spoke over his shoulder. “My father is awake.”
