Chapter 131

Carol’s POV

I woke up feeling dry or gross; I had never missed showers so much in my life. This salt water and sand was drying out my skin completely. My head was pounding from the morning heat but at least I wasn’t waking up alone again. I had Aiden back and as long as we were together, we would be okay.

I wasn’t expecting to wake up to the crackling of the radio and the sound of a familiar voice on the other end. Aiden must have worked all night to make the radio work. I opened my eyes and sat up to see the relief flooding his face.

“Oliver,” he said, his voice rasping from lack of water. A small chuckle escaped his lips at the sound of the crackling radio.

“What the hell, Man? We had a radar of your plane and then nothing,” Oliver said on the other end. “What happened to you?”

“The plane crashed,” Aiden said, his eyes meeting mine.

His gaze softened when he saw that I was awake and then he pulled me close to him. I snuggled against his side, wanting to cry with relief that we were able to get in touch with Oliver.

“I have been with the capitol’s private pilot for days searching for you,” Oliver surprised us by saying. “We are in the plane now. What are your coordinates?”

Aiden looked around momentarily with a frown marring his lips.

“I’m not entirely sure where this island is. I think it’s deserted. But I think I know where we fell from. We couldn’t have drifted that far from the location,” Aiden said. He proceeded to give Oliver and the pilot coordinates from where we fell out of the sky.

“Just keep calm, we will search the area for an island,” Oliver stated. Then after a pause he asked, “Is Carol okay?”

I smiled at the thought, and I reached over to press the ‘talk’ button.

“I’m okay, Oliver,” I told him, my voice also coming out raspy from lack of water.

“Thank God,” Oliver said, sighing relief. “We are going to get you out of here.”

“We know,” I said to him thoughtfully. “We trust you.”

I looked at Aiden and he nodded with thoughtfulness. We did trust Oliver and knew he had no idea about his father or what was going on. My chest tightened at the thought that his father was the one trying to get rid of the Alpha and Aiden. He wanted Oliver to be the next Alpha. Oliver was in the dark about this whole thing and I felt sick to my stomach thinking about it.

He was going to be so upset once he found out the truth.

Aiden put the Radio down and he sighed.

“We have to tell him eventually,” he said like he was reading my mind.

I nodded, tears burning in my eyes.

“I know,” I whispered. ‘But does it have to be today?”

“Regardless, his uncle needs to be dealt with,” Aiden said firmly; his eyes hardening as he thought about Olver’s uncle's betrayal. He had been a long time from the Cruz family and I’m sure the fact that he tried to kill Aiden’s father was a lot for him to handle.

“From the sound of things, it’s amazing that your father even survived,” I told him. “I don’t think he should have. It’s a powerful poison meant to kill the darkest evil.”

He nodded in agreement.

“I knew my father was strong, but not that strong,” Aiden admitted, rubbing his face as he thought more about it. “There’s still a chance he might not survive. Regardless, his wolf will most likely be gone.”

“Which means you’ll have to take over as Alpha?” I asked him.

He nodded.

“Yes,” he answered. “But let’s not think about that right now.”

He bent his head, and his lips grazed the side of my cheek. I smiled at the sentiment and lifted my head so I could kiss his lips. We had been on a deserted island for days, and I’m sure we both had pretty foul breath. But at that moment, I didn’t care. It’s been too long since I shared an intimate moment with my mate and there was some primal need inside of me urging me to get out and claim what was mine.

I deepened the kiss, letting my tongue swirl in his mouth and dance with his tongue. He wrapped his arms around my waist and pulled me into his lap, rubbing circles around my back. Warmth spread across my body from his touch, and I heard myself moaning in pleasure.

He nipped at my bottom lip playfully before trailing his lips down the nape of my neck, sucking on the spot he plans to mark me. He was panting heavily, his eyes dazed.
