Chapter 2 The Wedding
Edward looked Donna over carefully.
She was quite attractive.
But when he turned his head, he suddenly noticed the blood on the white sheets, and that tight, mind-blowing sensation during their intimate contact made his soul tremble.
It was her first time having sex.
Donna was still waiting for his answer. After all, marrying a complete stranger she'd just slept with was absurd.
She was already prepared to be rejected.
If he didn't agree, she'd have to hurry and find another man who would marry her right away.
Edward looked at her with some confusion. "Aren't you afraid I might be a bad person?"
After all, marriage was no joke.
"No."
Donna spoke honestly. Besides, you could always get divorced.
This answer caught Edward off guard. His family's constant marriage talk was suffocating.
He picked up his phone from the nightstand and called his assistant.
"Bring all my documents over."
Half an hour later.
They were already at the entrance of City Hall. After completing all the procedures as instructed by the staff, they came out with a marriage certificate in hand.
Donna's expression was complicated.
She had suddenly become a married person.
She opened the marriage certificate and looked at the name: [Edward Russell.]
His last name was the same as Leo's. How unlucky was that?
Edward said flatly, "Let's exchange contact information."
Donna nodded without much thought. After adding him as a friend, she casually transferred two hundred thousand dollars to Edward.
"This is payment for marrying me, and also your spending money. If you run out, you can ask me for more, but if I need you to cooperate with something, you must show up."
Edward was completely stunned.
This was the first time in his life a woman had given him spending money.
Donna didn't look at him and waved her hand dismissively. "Contact me if something comes up. I'm leaving now."
She left decisively, not noticing Edward's suddenly intense gaze.
He smiled. "How interesting."
On her way back, Donna called the person in charge of printing the wedding invitations.
"The groom's name is wrong. Change Leo to Edward."
"Okay, Ms. Jackson."
A cold gleam flashed in Donna's eyes.
Since Leo had given her such a big gift, she had to return the favor.
Soon it was the wedding day.
Since both families were powerful and influential, the venue was especially lively.
Donna, makeup done and wearing her wedding dress, greeted the guests coming and going.
She immediately spotted Maya and several of her followers.
Maya's off-shoulder dress revealed several hickeys on her neck.
Donna glanced over calmly, sneering inwardly. Idiot.
Maya looked around at the decorations with envy.
"This is exactly the wedding I've dreamed of, but unfortunately I'm not lucky enough to enjoy it."
As soon as she finished speaking.
A friend beside her couldn't wait to chime in.
"Maya, I can't believe you're willing to attend her wedding. If I were you, I would have scratched Donna's face already. If it weren't for her interfering and stealing your boyfriend, you should be the one standing here today!"
"Exactly, I've never seen anyone so shameless, stealing her own friend's boyfriend."
Maya's eyes reddened slightly as she forced herself to speak.
"Maybe Leo and I just weren't meant to be. But I'm willing to bless them as a good friend."
Donna heard all these comments clearly.
She slowly walked over. "How lively."
Maya immediately changed the topic, forcing a smile. "Donna, congratulations on your wedding. I hope you and Leo will be happy forever."
Before Maya could finish, Donna cut her off.
She looked at Maya with a cold laugh.
"What do you mean I stole your boyfriend? The business marriage between the Russell family and the Jackson family is something everyone knows about, and Leo himself was willing."
Maya said even more pitifully, "Donna, you've misunderstood me. I genuinely want to bless you."
The sarcasm in Donna's eyes was almost overflowing.
She looked Maya over carefully. This face wasn't beautiful, at most it could be called plain.
But her pitiful act was especially endearing, and it was exactly this tactic that had completely captivated Leo.
The thought of how often they must have been secretly hooking up filled Donna with disgust.
"What are you talking about?"
Just then, Leo walked over and immediately noticed Maya's reddened eyes.
Maya bit her lower lip and shook her head. "Nothing, I just came to bless you and Donna."
"Maya, even now, why are you still speaking up for Donna? She's clearly insulting you."
Maya's friend spoke up again, looking at Donna with dissatisfaction.
"Ms. Jackson, stealing someone else's things will bring karma. Maya is kind and good-natured, but that doesn't mean you can bully her like this."
Donna almost couldn't help laughing out loud.
The friend Maya brought was the sharpest knife in her hand. They together had practically put Donna in the spotlight of humiliation.
She asked slowly, "Then tell me exactly how I insulted her just now. If explaining what a business marriage is counts as an insult, then I have nothing to say."
"You! You're just bullying people with your power!"
Maya interrupted in time, choking up. "Donna, don't misunderstand, I really came to bless you both."
Leo stared at Donna with displeasure. "Behave yourself and stop bullying Maya. Don't forget today is our wedding day."
Donna didn't respond, the mockery in her eyes growing stronger.
He wanted her to behave?
In his dreams.
The small incident was quickly brushed aside. As more guests arrived, the emcee began hosting the wedding ceremony.
"We're so glad you could all be here to witness Donna and Leo's wedding. Now let's welcome the bride and groom to the stage."
As the emcee finished speaking, Donna slowly walked onto the stage in her wedding dress.
This wedding dress was haute couture from abroad, with a production period alone taking a year.
The gorgeous train, combined with Donna's perfect, beautiful face, made her look like a fairy who had wandered into the mortal world.
The audience was full of amazed and admiring voices.
Standing below the stage, Maya's jealous eyes were almost twisted. Why did Donna have such good fortune, born with all these things?
However, she was looking forward to the day when Donna discovered that Leo had been having an affair with her. For someone as naturally proud as Donna, it would definitely be a fatal blow!
Leo stood facing Donna and spoke tenderly.
"Donna, from the day I met you, I knew I had to marry you, and now my dream has finally come true."
He took out a ring from his pocket.
"Will you stay with me forever? We'll share each other's life, honor and sorrow, and no matter what happens, I'll stand firmly by your side."
Donna smiled, but there was no warmth in her eyes.
The original plan was for her to extend her hand and say, "I do."
But the next moment, the big screen behind them suddenly started playing footage!
And the content made everyone at the scene gasp—it was a video of Leo and Maya having sex at a hotel.
