Chapter 2 My "Toys" Exposed
Returning to my room, I saw a pair of snuggled dolls standing out.
Back then, I was more than joyful as I placed them in the most prominent spot.
But now, even the smiles on the dolls' faces hit me like a slap.
I picked up the dolls and tossed them into the trash without a second thought.
Then, I threw every item in the room with even the slightest connection to Raven out the door.
The butler bowed his head and collected all the items.
As I watched the room become empty, I felt comfortable.
Just then, Raven called me.
I flinched and instinctively answered the call.
The moment I did, Kai's face appeared on the screen.
Raven moved back and forth in the background. Kai angled the camera to show me what Raven was doing.
She was casually tossing envelopes into a box.
Seeing this, my pupils contracted.
Raven had pursued me first, after we were together, she made me write her a love letter every day, saying that she wanted to experience being pursued by me.
For eight years, I placed a letter in an envelope and handed it to her every day.
Now, to her, they were mere trash.
"There are other things besides these. Take them all."
I didn't want to see Raven; rather than letting her waste my feelings, I decided to retrieve them myself.
I arrived at the villa where Raven and I had once lived together.
The moment I reached the entrance, I froze. The building before me bore no resemblance to the one in my memories.
From the front gate to the interior décor visible through the floor-to-ceiling windows, not a single detail matched my recollections.
Just then, the door opened.
Kai emerged wearing pajamas, his face bearing the composed air of a victor.
A smirk touched his lips. "Your things are packed up now. They're in those boxes. Just take them."
He invited me inside, took my coat and hung it in the entryway, and gave me a cup of coffee. His every movement was elegant and commanding, declaring that he was the master of this house—Raven's husband.
I had met Kai a few times in college and always saw him speak as an outstanding student representative.
At that time, Raven would just curl her lip, her face full of disdain.
"Such a poser."
Yet now, after spending just a few days with this man, Raven had chosen to marry him.
"I'm not here as a guest. I'll take my things and leave."
"Those boxes are heavy. Let me help you carry them to the car."
Kai smiled as he bent down to lift a cardboard box from the floor.
I was about to stop him.
Suddenly, Kai gasped. The box slipped from his grasp and spilled its contents onto the floor.
As I watched the items scatter across the ground, I flushed.
Raven had packed all the toys she'd used on me into the box.
Kai covered his mouth, but a trace of amusement flickered in his eyes.
"Thank you for looking after Raven, Mr. Sinclair..."
Faced with this humiliation, I clenched my fists until my knuckles turned white.
Every single one of these items was something Raven threatened him into making.
At first, she tried to sweet-talk me, but later, refusal only led to cold wars. To spare her feelings, I repeatedly set aside my own dignity.
My breathing grew heavy, and my anger nearly exploded.
Kai, however, seemed utterly unconcerned. He just picked up the toys, twisting his voice: "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to."
Before he could finish, Raven was drawn out of the kitchen.
The moment she saw him gathering my things, she yanked Kai up and glared at me.
"Elias, you dare to pick on Kai?"
I took a deep breath. "He threw it on purpose."
Raven frowned. "Kai was helping you move, and you're picking a fight."
A look of triumph flashed in Kai's eyes as he wrapped his arm around Raven's waist. "Mr. Sinclair, I'm sorry."
Before he could finish, he bowed to me.
Raven's expression shifted dramatically.
Gritting her teeth, she said, "Kai, come with me. Ignore him."
With that, she took Kai's hand and turned toward the kitchen. Her voice was laced with suggestive teasing. "Don't be angry. How about we try it in the kitchen? Do you like the idea of a naked apron?"
Kai's voice was low and husky. "Of course, I like it very much."
"But Elias is still outside. I don't want him to hear—"
"It's fine. You're the only one in my heart."
Immediately, suppressed, pleasurable moans echoed...
Hearing those familiar sweet nothings, my heart ached.
Without hesitation, I kicked those items into a pile.
Then I tossed the lighter along with the rest of my belongings.
The love letters quickly caught fire, burning the plastic items and producing black smoke.
The overhead fire alarm detected the smoke and sounded a shrill whistle throughout the entire villa. The living room's automatic fire suppression system activated immediately.
This sudden commotion ruined Raven's mood. She threw on her coat and stormed out.
It was clear that she had been wearing only an apron.
"Are you insane?!"
I pulled on my coat, adjusting the collar, and snorted, "At least I'm not flirting with my current boyfriend in front of my ex without any shame."
With that, I left.
Raven stood in the living room, her face twisted with disgust. Yet, a thread of unease tugged at her heart: The man who had once abandoned everything for her and had repeatedly set aside his pride seemed different now.
"Raven—"
Kai's voice, thick with desire, pulled her back to reality from the kitchen.
Seeing the flames die down, Raven shook her head and walked back to the kitchen.
