Chapter 48
Within a week, they set up a meeting with Armand and requested Amy and Bob attend as well. On the day of the meeting, we all gathered in Armand’s office, and the brothers presented their evidence.
Everyone was there except for Armand, who was running unusually late. Not able to wait, the triplets confronted the traitors.
As the accusations and information was displayed, I watched as Amy grew pale, seeming to shrink into herself. When they were finished, and turned to hear what they had to say for themselves, they began talking over one another.
"We can't let them do this," Cheney said firmly, his jaw clenched. "We need to talk to father and make him see the truth."
But the confrontation was not going to be easy. Armand entered the room, as if on command, already seeming to bristle with anger.
As we stood before Armand, the air crackled with tension. Armand's eyes held a mix of confusion and disbelief as Nicholas told him of what Amy and Bob had been doing, not willing to accept that the woman he loved was capable of such betrayal.
"Father, you need to see the truth," Brian pleaded. "Amy and Bob are conspiring against you. We have the evidence."
Armand's eyes flickered towards the scrolls in Nicholas's hands, but he seemed reluctant to believe what they contained. As emotions ran high, the conversation escalated into a heated argument.
I couldn't bear to see our family torn apart like this, so I stepped forward, my hand reaching out to touch Armand's.
"Armand, please," I implored, my voice soft but determined. "Let me show you what the moon goddess has revealed to me."
Closing my eyes, I called upon the connection I had with the moon goddess. A gentle luminescence enveloped us, and in that ethereal realm, the truth was unveiled before Armand's eyes. He saw the depth of Amy's deception, the magnitude of her betrayal.
His eyes widened in shock, anger coursing through his veins. The moon's light reflected the fury in his gaze as he turned towards Amy, who tried to feign innocence.
"You would betray me like this?" Armand's voice was cold and distant. "After all we shared?"
Amy stuttered, her facade crumbling under the weight of her lies. She tried to turn the tables and feigned anger.
“Do you really believe these ridiculous claims? Armand, are you really so blind as to what’s going on here?“ she stomped around the room, throwing insults at everyone in the room, including Bob.
“Do you really think I’d stoop so low as to work with your sniveling idiot if a brother?” Bob flushed, and became defiant, trying to twist the truth to his advantage.
“Everything was her idea. She sought me out, and told me that she only got into a relationship with you so that she could one day take over your position within the pack. When she realized you wouldn’t be swayed by her, she wanted ti use me to do it.”
He hung his head at the confession, and sat down, ready to take whatever punishment he was given. “Oh, what bullshit that is! You can’t believe a word of this spineless piece of…”
Her words were cut off by Armand's bitter laughter. "Shut up. You had a choice, Amy. And you chose to betray not only me but the entire pack."
Amy, never one to give up easily, was still trying to find a way out if things, and used the baby she was carrying as a bargaining chip.
“Whatever. You can’t do anything to me now, even if you wanted to. I’m carrying your baby.” She sneered at each of us, like she’d beaten us.
Armand's disappointment and anger were palpable, be he knew she was right. “I can’t do anything now, true. But I can lock you up until the baby is born and I can surely do something afterwards.”
He glowered at her, furiously. She shrank back a bit, but stood her ground, jutting her chin up at him. “You can try to lock me up.” She said, with a smirk. Armand made a small gesture, and four of our most ferocious guard appeared and drug Amy away kicking and screaming.
I wasn’t sure where they had taken Amy, but by the lack of screaming and profanities heard within the mansion, I was sure she wasn’t still here on the grounds. Still, I could sense the tension mounting within the pack, as if a storm was brewing on the horizon.
The weight of the secret that Amy and Bob had been planning was running through the ranks, and I was afraid that even though we had stopped them, that the unease would cause dissent anyway.
I let my mates know this and we decided that it was vital to protect our beloved Alpha King, from the treacherous web spun by his girlfriend and his own brother.
“What can we do to help keep the pack intact?” I asked my mates as we lay in bed that night. “We need to present a strong front.” Nicholas said, twirling a strand of my hair through his fingers.
Cheney, laying at the foot of the bed, rubbing my feet, agreed. “If they see we all stand with him, as the future of the pack, that will show strength and unity. We should talk to Father as soon as we can.”
Brian, who’s head was resting on my belly, ear pressed down, listening to both mine and our baby’s heartbeat, just smiled and nodded his agreement.
So, we went back to Armand and proposed a discussion with all the members of the pack. “We should let them see that we are all united in this. They need to know that we wont let this destroy us.”
Nicholas was talking calmly to his father, knowing that he was still distraught over finding out the betrayal. “You’re right, son. We need to be clear that treachery will not be tolerated as well.”
Armand had a murderous look in his eyes, and it worried me. Brian placed a steady hand on my shoulder, leaned down and whispered in my ear, “Betrayal such as this can only end one way, my love. In death.”
His eyes were grave as they watched me. I was shocked, almost sickened by this news, but I knew in my heart that it would be necessary for the pack to stay whole. Bob was going to have to be put to death, and Amy too, eventually.
“We’ll have to show the pack definitive proof…” Armand trailed off, his mind elsewhere. Nicholas glanced at me, as if to gather courage from the sight of me.
"I found these hidden in Bob's study," Nicholas produced the evidence that he had tried to show his father earlier. "They contain detailed plans to overthrow you, father, and seize control of the pack with Amy at his side."
Armand's eyes widened as he scanned the incriminating documents. I could see the pain and disbelief etched on his face. He had loved Amy deeply, and the thought of her betraying him had been, and still was, a bitter pill to swallow.
