Chapter 45
In our lovely new home, Nicholas, Cheney, and Brian, were constantly hovering around me, their protective instincts in overdrive. While their intentions were pure and filled with love, it made it increasingly difficult for me to keep my pregnancy a secret from them.
One evening, as the sun set and painted the sky in hues of pink and gold, I found myself surrounded by the triplets once again. They sat on a plush sofa in the living room, their watchful eyes never leaving me.
It was like they were waiting on me to do something. Or maybe it was that their instincts knew there was something going on with me that I hadn’t, or didn’t, know. I understood their worried faces, but I still didn’t know how to tell them.
"Beryl, are you feeling okay? You haven’t been yourself lately. We just want to take care of you." Nicholas asked, concern etched on his handsome face. I smiled, grateful for their care but also feeling a pang of guilt for hiding the truth from them.
"I'm fine, just a little tired. You don't have to worry so much," I tried to reassure them, though I knew it was a futile attempt to keep them from fussing over me.
Cheney leaned forward, his eyes searching hers. "Beryl, we know something is going on. You're not telling us everything," he said gently, sensing my discomfort.
I took a deep breath, my heart pounding in my chest. I knew I couldn't keep the secret any longer. "Okay, you're right. There's something I need to tell you," I began slowly, her voice steady but filled with emotion.
“Just know, there was a reason I didn’t tell you sooner, and understood that it was a good reason, and try not to get angry.” The triplets leaned in closer, their eyes locked onto hers, awaiting her revelation.
"I'm pregnant," I blurted out, my eyes brimming with tears of both fear and joy. Nicholas, Cheney, and Brian stared at me in shock for a moment before breaking into grins of pure happiness. "You're pregnant?" Brian exclaimed, unable to contain his excitement.
I nodded, a mix of relief and joy washing over me. "Yes, and you're going to be fathers," I said, my voice filled with love as I looked at each of them in turn.
The triplets exchanged glances, their smiles widening as they realized the magnitude of the news. Cheney was the first to speak, his voice trembling with emotion. "Beryl, this is incredible! We're going to be parents together," he said, his hand gently resting on her belly.
Nicholas and Brian both expressed their excitement and love, enveloping me in a warm embrace. "We can't wait to meet our child," Nicholas said, his voice filled with wonder.
"Thank you for telling us, Beryl. We're in this together, no matter what," Brian added, his loyalty evident in his words.
I couldn’t believe the overwhelming happiness that consumed me. I was having my mate’s baby. We were in this together, forever and always, no matter what. They would take care of me and this child, I knew it in my bones.
Only the slightest tinge of fear creeped in as I explained to them why I’d kept it a secret for so long. “Amy can’t find out. She would use it against us somehow.”
I could see understanding cross their faces, immediately replaced by a fierce determination. They would take care of us.
As the days went by, my bond with the triplets deepened even further. They were there for every moment of my pregnancy, supporting me with unwavering love and care.
One evening, as we sat together in the garden under a blanket of stars, Cheney spoke up, breaking the peaceful silence. "You know, we never asked who the father is," he said, his tone curious but not judgmental.
I took a deep breath, my heart heavy with the truth I had been hiding. "I have no idea. I was with each of you that night. But to me, you are all this baby’s father." I spoke, looking into their eyes with apprehension.
For a moment, there was a hint of tension in the air, but it quickly dissipated as Nicholas reached out and took her hand. "It doesn't matter who the father is. What matters is that we love you, and we love this baby," he said, his voice firm and reassuring.
Cheney and Brian nodded in agreement, their devotion to me and this child evident in their expressions.
"We want to mark you as our mate," Nicholas declared, his gaze intense. "Each of us wants to pledge our love and loyalty to you and the baby."
My heart swelled with love and gratitude. "I would be honored," I whispered, tears of happiness streaming down my cheeks.
Joy and happiness spread between the four of us. I had hope for the future and the future of our unborn child. To get to that wonderful future though, we had to figure out how to deal with Amy and Bob, and their desire to overthrow Armand.
“We need to find out Amy and Bob’s plan, and preferably before she finds out about our baby.” I hated to disturb this intimate moment, but I was already feeling the protectiveness of motherhood taking over.
The triplet’s faces became grave, and Nicholas squeezed me tighter. “We will. We have to. There is no way we will ever let her hurt you, or take over the pack. That would be a nightmare.”
Cheney and Brian nodded their agreement, looking just as grave and fierce as their brother. “Now that we have guards that we can trust here with Beryl, we can resume watching and following her.” Cheney gave his input, hopefully.
“We’ll have to make some kind of excuse with Armand for not attending all of his meetings. He knows there’s something going on, someone trying to push him out. I just don’t know how to get him to believe it’s Amy and Bob.” Brian added his thoughts to the conversation as well.
I was so proud of these men that I called my own, and so proud that they would be the fathers of my sweet child. “We’ll be ok. No matter what, this little family of ours, we will be ok. Nothing Amy can do will tear us apart.”
My words brought smiles to the triplets faces, and we were back in that intimate moment again. We had a plan, and a hope for our future.
In this house that was already filled with love and memories, I was again surrounded by love and acceptance. I could again embraced the future with hope and optimism. With the triplets by my side, I knew she could face anything that came our way.
