Chapter 94
Grace
Sunlight streamed through the window. I wasn't ready to get up. My whole body felt like goo. I could still feel Charles' tongue licking me, wringing orgasm after orgasm out of me until I could take him fully with one easy push.
His fingers, warm and seeking, slipped over my hip and trailed down my thigh. I groaned, turning over as Charles kissed my shoulder.
"More?"
"Not if I plan to walk."
He chuckled darkly along my spine and slipped from the bed. I turned over to look at him.
"I thought you had a sweet tooth, Grace," Charles chided.
"Even people with sweet tooths can get diabetes."
He threw his head back and laughed as he opened the door to his bathroom.
"You sure you don't want to join me for an... digestif?"
I bit my lip, and as much as I knew I was going to regret it later, I couldn't fucking resist. I got out of bed and crossed the room. His eyes glowed as he caught me in his arms and carried me into the bathroom, kissing me as if he couldn't get enough of me. I could still taste myself on his lips.
"When's your meeting with Fenris?"
"At eleven."
"Plenty of time." I shuddered as he pushed into me and settled me on his cock.
I shuddered, my orgasm washing over me lazily as he turned on the shower and pressed me against the wall, bending me in half and stroking into me so deep I couldn't breathe.
"That's it, Grace," he panted into my mouth. "You take me so good."
He growled deep in his chest, and it rushed through me. I heard an alarm go off somewhere, but I couldn't heed it. I came again, and he didn't stop.
"Charles, I... I have to walk."
"You will," Charles chuckled against my neck. "Don't underestimate yourself."
The alarm went off again as he snapped his hips, and another orgasm punched through me. I almost sobbed.
"I can't, Charles. No more, really--"
"I don't think you have diabetes yet."
"Charles!"
Then, I heard Eason's voice. "It's nine-thirty."
I shuddered, growing tense. Charles shuddered. His hips twitched as he came and chuckled.
"Guess I should let you shower now."
Charles was a big fat liar. It was ten-thirty now. My hair was barely dry, and I still didn't have a clue about what I was going to wear. Had I done laundry? What did one wear to a meeting with the enemy anyway?
"I'm going to be late!" I cried, rushing around my room, searching for something appropriate to wear.
Eason leaned in the doorway, eating a popsicle and scrolling through his phone. "No one told you to fuck all night and into the morning."
Charles laughed as he passed, fully dressed for the day. "I'm off."
"Screw you!" I said, searching my drawers for better underwear.
"Is she always like this?" Charles asked.
"A distinct lack of shame?" Eason asked. "Always... Those underwear will show through anything. Wear a thong."
I scowled over my shoulder at him as Eason finished his popsicle, and Charles put the back of his hand to Eason's forehead.
"Fever's coming down."
"George brought a whole freezer of popsicles for me."
"Cute."
Eason flushed and scowled. "Knock it off."
Charles grinned. "Eason's right. Wear the thong so I can take it off later, but also because your suit is going to require it."
I turned back to look at them. "What? I don't have a suit that would require a thong."
Eason motioned with his popsicle to the closet. "Why you thought that going to this meeting would require something that you could wear from your drawers, I have no idea. The closet Grace, and put a bra on. Charles might enjoy the view, but I don't."
I scowled at him. "No one told you to watch."
"I'm not, but I'm on duty since Charles is leaving."
I went to my closet and blinked. There were a lot of clothes in there that I had never seen before. I looked at Charles in the doorway, who grinned at me. He winked.
"Go for the green one. Debrief later, hm?"
He left then, and I looked back at my closet, pulling out the dress suit in a deep, rich green.
It was such a lovely color and a color that my father wore often.
"He's good," Eason said. "Shame that you're such a scatterbrain. Wear a good bra. Bye."
I got dressed, grumbling about lycan sex gods and truculent little brothers, but once I slipped into the suit and the stylish pumps I knew Eason had picked out, I felt better.
I slipped into the chauffeured car with more than enough time to make it to the restaurant without a problem.
"I'm looking for the Mark table," I said.
The hostess directed me to a table where a man was already seated. Fenris Mark seemed to ooze slime. His slicked-back hair and unnerving smile made it clear that he was a man used to getting what he wanted.
"I'm surprised that we didn't have this meeting at Wolfe Medical."
I narrowed my eyes. "I figured neutral ground was better for everyone."
He chuckled. "I suppose you want to talk about this patent situation. Our longevity drug is set to be a game-changer, you know?"
I raised an eyebrow, masking my skepticism as best as I could. "And what would you know about it? When I searched the patent database, Lunar Remedies didn't come up at all."
Fenris chuckled, a sound that sent a shiver down my spine. "Ah, you're well-informed, Grace. But you see, our methods are... unconventional. We've made significant strides in the field, although we prefer to keep some of our techniques proprietary."
I clenched my jaw, struggling to maintain my composure. Luna Remedies' involvement was nothing more than a blatant attempt to hijack our project. "Mr. Mark, I believe in transparency. If you have indeed made valuable strides on your version of this project, then the patent case should go over smoothly."
He laughed again. Fenris's smile widened, revealing a set of unnaturally white teeth.
"I can see that I was right about you. Still a bit wet behind the ears. Let me spell it out for you: you won't be getting anything to patent until we come to an accord."
His thinly veiled threat hung in the air like a foul stench. I clenched my fists under the table, struggling to maintain my composure in the face of such blatant intimidation.
I narrowed my eyes at him. "And how do you figure that?"
He leaned back in his chair with that infuriating smile still etched across his face. "I have the ear of the Alpha President himself. Do you really want to go up against that kind of power? Do you really think you can, given the state you've driven your little pack to?"
He smiled. "With a few well-placed words, I could have you removed from office in a very embarrassing way and take Wolfe Medical for pennies."
I eyed him. "You think that's how this will play out?"
"I assure you that it will." He smiled. "I was thinking forty percent of the market share, throw in about twenty percent of your stocks, and we'll call it a deal, hm?"
I blinked at him. "You must throw your connections around quite frequently to be so comfortable doing so to me."
I stood, getting a tight hold on my anger, as I looked down at him. I wanted to claw his face off.
"Wolfe Medical has submitted the patent, and unless you can prove that you have a right to submit one as well, the next time I see you will be in court for attempted blackmail and extortion."
As I stood to leave, his laughter followed me like a sinister echo. "Oh, Grace, you're playing a dangerous game, and you really think you can win? I've toppled men twice your age and three times your experience."
I looked back at him, unable to let the jab slide. "Probably because they were men."
His eyes narrowed a bit before he smiled, almost leisurely. "I look forward to our next encounter. It'll be sixty percent next time, by the way."
It would be my foot down his throat and his blood on the wall if I had anything to say about it. I walked outside. My heart was pounding with fury. I was going to lose it if I kept focusing on it. I needed to talk to Charles and the lawyer to figure out what Fenris could reasonably do. No way in hell had I fought so hard just to have that jackass try to come in and take everything I was just starting to rebuild.
I got into the car and took a deep breath as I was driven back to Wolfe Medical. Fenris was going to be the least of my problems if he had the backing of the President.
How did they know each other?
And why was the President so interested in Mooncrest now of all times?
Did it have something to do with Devin?
I didn't know, but I had a feeling I'd find out soon.
