The unwanted 2

Mathew’s grip tightened on her wrist, his voice breaking the silence like thunder.

“Did you sleep with my brother?”

She pulled her hand back, but he didn’t let go.

“I didn’t do anything with him,” Elena said, her tone sharp now. “And even if I did, it’s none of your business.”

He stepped closer, lowering his voice. “Oh, Elena… I’m your Alpha. You’re mine. You belong to me.”

She yanked her hand free. “I don’t belong to anyone.”

He gave a fake smile, but inside he was burning.

“That look on your face,” he said. “Is that the same look you gave that rogue seven years ago… after you had sex with him?”

Her whole body went stiff.

Then she slapped him.

“You disgust me,” she said, shaking with rage. “You know what? If I still had my wolf… if I could protect Lucas… I would leave the Red Moon pack tonight.”

He grabbed her by the arms.

“Damn it, Elena!” he shouted.

“Alpha?” a voice called from outside.

It was Tyler again. “The doctor is here.”

He let her go.

She walked out without a word.

He followed her quietly.

They walked through the long hallway, past glass windows glowing from the moonlight, until they reached the healer’s room in the Silver Blade Pack’s quarters.

Lucas was lying on a bed, still and pale. His chest rose and fell slowly. Too slowly.

The doctor, a tall man in white robes with a silver badge, was finishing his checks. He placed two fingers on Lucas’s neck, then looked up at Elena.

“Your son is stable for now,” the doctor said gently. “But…”

“But what?” Elena asked.

The doctor stood and faced her. “I need to know who the father is.”

She blinked. “Why do you ask?”

He folded his arms. “Because I suspect the boy has Alpha wolf blood in him. Otherwise… he’d be dead already.”

The Alpha stepped forward fast. “I’m sure you’re mistaken.”

The doctor didn’t even glance at him. “I don’t think I am.”

He looked at Elena.

She was staring at Lucas now, like her world was breaking.

“If we’re going to save him completely,” the doctor continued, “we’ll need a bone marrow transplant. From his real father.”

Lucas stirred. His small hand reached out and clutched Elena’s sleeve.

He started shaking.

Elena knelt by his side immediately, hugging him tight.

“It’s okay, sweetie,” she whispered. “Don’t be afraid. I’m right here.”

Lucas’s little voice came out soft and slow.

“Mommy… I can feel… Daddy.”

Elena went still.

Lucas looked around the room, his eyes glassy and glowing faintly gold.

“He’s around us somewhere,” he whispered. “He’s here.”

The next morning, Harrison was in Silver Blade Pack’s private sports room, holding a paddle and smashing a ball back and forth across the table.

Alpha Walter was surprisingly good at table tennis for someone in his fifties. Still, Harrison beat him every round.

“Nice shot,” Walter said with a tired chuckle. “I heard you had some drama last night. Something about your brother losing his mind because you switched rooms with me?”

Harrison gave a half-smile. “Yeah. Mathew’s always been stupid. He thinks everything is about him.”

Walter laughed. “Well, he’s worse than stupid. He’s like his father. A womanizer.”

Harrison narrowed his eyes, waiting.

“He sent his Beta crawling to my room,” Walter went on, “begging for a doctor for some maid’s son.”

Harrison’s hand froze mid-air. “…She has a child?”

Walter looked at him, raising an eyebrow. “What’s wrong?”

Harrison straightened up. “Nothing. Let’s get to business.”

Walter nodded. “Alright. My offer still stands. You find my daughter, and I’ll support your run for president of the Werewolf Alliance.”

Harrison gave a slow smile and stepped forward. They shook hands, sealing the deal.

Walter glanced down at the golden pocket watch he always carried. When he opened it, Harrison saw the small, faded picture of a girl, Walter’s daughter. She looked no older than ten in the photo.

“If my daughter were still alive,” Walter muttered to himself, “she’d have given me a beautiful grandchild by now.”

Five Days Later (Red Moon Pack)

The sink water was warm against Elena’s fingers as she scrubbed the dishes. Lucas stood beside her, holding a sponge like he wanted to help, but mostly he just kept watching her.

She dried her hands and touched his head gently. “Today is the Alpha’s engagement party, okay? Mommy’s going to be really busy.”

Lucas nodded. “Okay, Mommy.”

From outside the kitchen, angry voices carried.

“...That damn Elena’s a dead woman!”

Elena stiffened.
