Chapter 1

Alina woke up with a slight headache. She had been running the previous night and now, her legs were sore, heavy and badly in need of some rest. There were times when she needed to take Laura, her wolf for a run. Last night had proven to be so much fun and Alina didn't know what she was missing until she went for that run. Now, she was feeling the aftereffect of her exercise and she was happy for the burn she felt in her limbs.

Her jet black hair was tousled as a result of the tossing and turning she did the previous night. She had woken up from a nightmare and for the life of her, she couldn't quite remember what she had dreamt about. Alina was a succumbus, she possessed three entities within her. The first was her dominant trait which was the wolf, the second was her witch traits and the last but not the least was her vampire traits.

All three were powerful in their own right and Alina was quite glad that she posseses them. Sometimes, it could be too much and in those moments, she found herself wishing she was just a normal girl like her schoolmates. Alina was in her third year in college, pursuing a degree in psychology. Her parents were dead, their lives gruesomely taken in a car crash when she was only six.

She barely remembered that episode and the little flashes she got from it was enough to put a damper in her feelings. Her father was a human whilst her mother was a full blooded wolf. Her last trait was a gene, gotten from her maternal grandmother. Their union was one that raised a lot of concerns. The families of both parties kicked against it but despite all odds, their love blossomed to bring forth the most beautiful child they had ever seen, Alina Martins.

Alina sighed, rising up from her double bunk bed. Her roommate, a final year student at the same college Alina studied was out, probably dead drunk in one of the sleazy pubs in the area. Alina couldn't understand how humans took their drinks. The first time she tried getting drunk, she had lost the use of her werewolf powers for a week. That was something she didn't want happening again and she wisely shyed away from anything that had alcohol in it. That was her weakness.

Her caramel skin glowed under the streams of sunlight that bathed her room in an incandescent glow. Alina was easily the most beautiful girl in her class, she knew this but sometimes, she just wished she wasn't easily spotted. Men of different caliber had lusted after her but what they didn't know was that Alina was not like them. She possessed a power so great that she could easily destroy the whole city if it got out of hand. If they even got a slight hint about the kind of person she was, she had no doubt that they'll go running for the hills.

Alina knew this and most times, she was always trying to reign down on her temper when it was getting out of hand. She knew what it could do and she sure as hell wasn't ready to loose it.

Her bedside alarm clock rang with a ferocity she didn't know it had. This just successfully brought in a new round of headache. She shut off the offending object, sighing as her wolf kicked to be let out.

"Not today Laura." Alina muttered.

She needed to get to class ASAP and judging by the time, she was running late. She walked briskly towards the bathroom for a cold bath. The water seemed to ease the burning sting on her leg. She wished she could just remain underneath the shower but alas, she knew she had to get out or else, she would wrinkle. Her vampire particularly seemed to like this being that it was cold-blooded.

Alina searched through her trunk, looking for something comfortable to wear. No matter what she wore, men seemed to flock around her. She had purposely wore one of her most ugliest gowns one day, thinking that at last she would be free from their advances but that day seemed to be worse. Right from the school gates, they all wanted to touch her, talk to her but women and men alike. That day, she couldn't stay for the end of the class. She had to run back to her hostel where she could hide till the following day.

"I wonder what they see in me." Alina muttered.

What she didn't know was that being a succubus meant that she easily drew the attention of people. It was like a spell and a very potent one at that.

She heaved a sigh of relief when she finally found just the right outfit to put on that day. She wore her highwaist jean which seemed to bring out all her curves. Her blouse was in the latest fashion which just proved that she was in the know of what was trending. When her parents died, they had left her a substantial amount of money in a safe deposit. Alina didn't know about this until she was eighteen.

She vividly remembered the day she saw the balance in her account. It was bound to last her a lifetime. Alina was wise though, she knew burning it all on frivolous things would be a foolish thing to do and she was not at all ready to go bankrupt. The money would solely be for her school and other emergencies that may arise.

Alina planned on getting an apartment as soon as she was done schooling then she could source for a means of livelihood. She had her whole life planned out and deep down, she really hoped she was able to accomplish it all. There was nothing more she wanted that to accomplish all her goals.

Soon, she was ready to leave. Her long jet black hair was packed into a tight bun which brought out her beautiful face all the more. Her tote bag rested on her shoulders which just proved to everyone looking that she was a school girl.

"May the fates be with me today." She muttered.

Alina stepped out of her dormitory, heading towards the main school area. Just like before, she got a whole lot of attention as soon as she stepped into the lecture hall. Alina sighed, this was really going to be a long day.
