Chapter 1
"I'm pregnant."
Alexandra smiled sweetly to express her happiness when sending a message to her lover.
"I still can't believe that I will soon become a mother," Alexandra muttered to herself. She was both nervous and excited. "How do you think Stevan will react? Would he feel the same way?” She imagined the look on Stevan's face and couldn't help but laugh. She even hummed a song while looking at her phone. Not long after waiting, the message was answered.
"Whose kid?"
Alexandra frowned. “What the hell? Why is he asking like this?” Her heartbeat started to beat fast. Various speculations came to her mind. She immediately typed a reply message to her lover.
“Of course, your baby. I'm pregnant because of you. We do it often. Have you forgotten? Why would you doubt that the baby in my womb is yours?" Alexandra tries to stay positive.
"I want us to break up."
Alexandra immediately sat on the floor when she read a message that was so heartbreaking. Her left hand squeezed the cellphone tightly, tears pooling in her eyes. She then called Stevan's number, but the phone was not answered. "What do you mean, Stevan?" She didn't just give up. She stood up and took her bag, then went out of her bedroom. She wanted to go to Stevan's house.
Now Alexandra is in a small and simple house in the city of Gelves, Spain. A house that provides comfort and holds many happy memories with Stevan. The house looked quiet. Alexandra tried to knock on the door of the house. However, there was no one there. “Why do you have the heart to do this to me? What did I do wrong?" Tears flowed down Alexandra's cheeks. Her right hand holds a test pack, which shows two lines. "Why were you present when your father left your mother?"
Alexandra took a photo of the test pack she was holding. She wanted to show Stevan that she was six weeks pregnant. For the last 3 months, she has continued to stay at Stevan's house and is always with him. She confirmed that Stevan was the father of the baby in her womb. However, suddenly there was another incoming message notification. "I don't love you anymore. Your shabby appearance disgusts me. Get away from my life. I've transferred the money to your account. I hope you find other happiness.” Her hands immediately trembled when she read the message that hurt her so much. Proof of the transfer of a large amount of money was also sent by the man. She then sent a photo of the test pack. However, the message could not be sent because her number had been blocked.
“Why do you have the heart to ask me to separate? Even though you always promised that you wanted to make me your wife," muttered Alexandra with tears in her eyes. The cellphone she was holding suddenly fell to the floor. She didn't expect that her lover would leave her. Her world shattered at that moment. The only hope has now also left her.
A few minutes later, Alexandra arrived at her house. Just as she opened the door, she immediately received bad treatment from her stepmother. A bucket of water was poured over her body. "Where have you been? Your homework hasn't been finished yet. Quickly clean this house!” snapped a 48-year-old middle-aged woman. Alexandra just remained silent while shedding tears.
"Why are you silent? Go quickly and do it!" Her stepmother snapped, then left.
Alexandra took off the jacket she was wearing to mop up the remaining water on the floor. She didn't want to slip and harm the fetus in her womb. Her life has been very tormented since her father chose to remarry after her biological mother died. Her stepmother and stepsister's treatment of her became increasingly rampant and arbitrary when her father went to work out of town. At only 18 years old, she did not have the strength to fight them. Until the end, she chose to remain silent and give in.
The next morning, at 7 a.m., Alexandra's father returned after three months of not coming home at all. Alexandra looked very happy and immediately hugged her father. Without realizing it, her tears fell into the arms of the father she had missed.
Sofia is now in Alexandra's room. She pretended to clean her stepdaughter's room just to get sympathy from Marcel. When her eyes fell on the dry waste bin next to the cupboard, she was surprised by the test pack, which showed two lines there. She immediately shouted for Alexandra.
Not long after, everyone in the house approached. “Why are you screaming?” Marcel asked, looking at her wife.
“Explain it to me, Alexa. Why is there a test pack here?” Sofia pointed towards the trash can.
Marcel was shocked when he saw a test pack in his daughter's room. “What the hell, Alexa?”
Alexandra couldn't help but cry. Even though she wanted to hide her pregnancy from her father. However, unexpectedly, her stepmother entered her bedroom. "I'm pregnant," she said softly.
A hard slap landed on Alexandra's cheek, causing the young woman to fall to the floor. Marcel was furious. “Who got you pregnant?” Alexandra sobbed even more. This was the first time Marcel had slapped him. “Answer me, Alexa! Who made you pregnant?” Marcel snapped.
