Chapter 3 Three
“Blair, where have you been?”
My Dad held my hand the moment I stepped inside the house.
He looked so worried, and not only he, but my siblings too.
I shouldn't have run off like that,
My Dad suffers from a terminal illness and any slight mistake could make him end up in the hospital.
“Dad?”
I broke down in tears and he hugged me tightly.
“My baby, sorry about that, I couldn't do anything to help you.”
“Daddy spoke to Harris, hoping he would change his mind, but he didn't.”
One of my siblings said.
What!
Why would Dad do such a thing?
That will make Harris look down on me more.
Dad shouldn't have done that,
“When you didn't answer your calls, we thought you had killed yourself, Blair.”
Really?
That didn't even cross my mind.
Even though it was so painful,
I can never kill myself because of Harris and Jessy.
They can go to hell,
All I know is, I must take my revenge someday.
“It would have been better if she had killed herself.”
Mum?
“Then our family will live in peace.”
She scoffed.
“Stop saying that, Laurene, she is your child.”
Dad snapped at her.
“And so fucking what? Didn't I warn her to stay away from that boy?”
She said angrily.
“Come on, Mum, the deed has been done, leave Blair alone.”
My younger brother stepped in.
“Yes, leave her alone, Mum, this is too much for her to handle.”
My sister chipped in.
“Who cares? This is the kind of life she wants for herself and she has already gotten it.”
How was that the life I ever wanted for myself?
I've never dreamed of something bad,
I've always imagined that Harris and I would live a good life together.
But I was wrong,
I ran from the living room and locked myself inside my room.
Seeing my parents fight because of me always breaks my heart.
And for five years now since Harris came into my life, my parents have always been arguing because of me.
Mum never liked Harris,
She said there was something off about him which she doesn't like.
But I never listened to her,
And I regret it now.
TWO MONTHS LATER
It has been two months since the betrayal,
And they really took it to the next level by getting married shamelessly.
Just a week after my wedding was called off, Harris and Jessy got married.
The idiots had planned it all along, making me think they were planning for my marriage.
Sighs,
I wish them bad luck in that marriage, and I pray they never find peace.
Luckily, my family has been so supportive of me, except mum who wants nothing to do with me.
She didn't even want me in the house and would have sent me away long ago if not for Dad stepping up for me.
And even though I avoided her like the plague, that didn't stop her from picking on me whenever she saw me around the house.
Sighs.
It is fine,
I know I will overcome this soon.
“Blair!”
Kylie, my 14-year-old sister, knocked on the door.
“I can't come in because I am in a hurry, but you have a guest outside.”
A guest?
Pfft.
Kylie just wants me to come out.
“I am not in for your games now, Kulie, go away.”
She opened the door.
“Seriously, Blair, someone came looking for you. And guess what? He is striking hot!”
Uhn?
A man?
Who is that?
“Come quickly, Dad and Mum are with him. You know how mum can be, she is throwing him lots and lots of questions.”
She giggled and closed the door.
As soon as she left, I left the room to go see who that was.
When I stepped into the lounge, the expression on my parents’ faces wasn't a joke, especially Mum who looked like she could kill me at that spot.
A man was sitting on the sofa, but he had his back turned to me, so I couldn't see his face.
“Blair, is this what you have turned into?”
Mum snapped, getting up from the sofa angrily.
“Calm down, honey.”
Dad held her hand and she sat down again.
“Come over here, Blair.”
Dad gestured to me.
I walked past Mum in fear and sat down opposite Dad.
Then I saw his face,
The handsome man with whom I had sex with two months ago.
At that moment, my heartbeat ceased and I wished the ground could swallow me whole.
What brought him to my house?
Wait,
How did he know I live here?
“Hi, Blair,”
He smiled, waving his fingers at me.
“Blair?”
Dad called, breaking me out of my reverie.
“This man here claimed you and he had a marriage agreement two months ago.”
A marriage agreement?
With this man?
No,
We only had sex,
But I can't reveal that to them.
“I didn't.”
I denied it and he looked so disappointed.
“Hey, Blair?”
He called softly.
“Have you already forgotten? The club? Drunk? And…”
“Yes!”
I cut him off before he could let the cat out of the bag.
“I remember.”
With trembling hands, I snatched the paper from his hands and went through it.
Gosh!
This is a marriage certificate, and it has my name and signature on it.
How did I end up in this mess?
“Do you even know who this is, Blair?”
Mum looked so frustrated.
“This is Mr. Fredrick White!”
I don't know who Fredrick is, but the name, White, sounded so familiar.
“Harris Dad, you fool!”
What!
The certificate slipped out of my hand and I leapt to my feet.
Harris Dad?
The man I had sex with was Harris’ Dad?
My legs became so numb that I couldn't stand on them anymore and fell on the floor.
OMG!
What have I done?
What nonsense was that?
No one but that big jerk’s Dad?
It could have been someone else.
I didn't know him in person,
I have only seen him in the pictures.
And now that I was seeing him closely,
He was indeed the man I saw on Harris ' phone two years ago.
Blair!
“Blair, are you alright?”
Daddy helped me stand on my feet again.
I took one last look at Fredrick and ran off.
I couldn't stand there any longer,
I feel so stupid.
