Chapter 5

Christopher finished eating and let out a long sigh.

He always felt like Hayden looked at him as if he were some kind of food.

Hayden said, "From now on, you need to eat like this every day. You're too skinny; you need to build yourself up."

Christopher didn't want to argue, so he just nodded in agreement.

Right now, he was living under someone else's roof and had to follow their rules.

Christopher walked through the archway and headed to Olivia's room.

The door was closed, and just as he was about to knock, it opened automatically. Olivia stood in the living room, surrounded by several of the Thomas family's younger generation.

They had brought Olivia a lot of clothes, waiting for her to choose.

But the room full of clothes only earned a cold glance from Olivia and a dismissive, "Take them all away."

Everyone immediately looked disheartened.

Hayden had made it clear that Olivia had to be comfortable living with the Thomas family, or he would cut off their financial support.

Except for Chase, none of them were too happy about it.

But when they brought expensive clothes for Olivia to choose from and were rejected, they felt a sense of frustration.

These clothes were suitable for her age and came in various styles, but none of them caught her eye.

Christopher spoke up, "She doesn't like these clothes. Bring some Gothic Lolita-style outfits, especially in black and red."

Olivia glanced at him and said, "Not everyone is an idiot."

The group, now knowing her preferred style, quickly dispersed.

Outside, Aiden put an arm around Chase's shoulder and whispered, "Tell me, what's the deal with this woman? She seems really strange."

Aiden was Chase's half-brother. After his parents passed away, Scarlett brought him back, claiming he was Chase's brother.

"She's the head of the Thomas family," Chase said confidently.

Aiden frowned and asked, "You really see her as the head? This isn't the old days, and our family status is nothing to laugh at."

He was quite dissatisfied.

Olivia looked younger than him, so why should they show her respect?

In the room, Olivia directed Christopher to brush her hair.

Christopher had brushed his sister's hair when he was younger, so it wasn't difficult for him.

As he brushed, he said, "My mother called the police. They found a lot of bones under the villa. The police have taken them for investigation."

"Someone clearly wanted to harm me; otherwise, the array wouldn't have been set up so precisely," Christopher said, looking at Olivia.

Olivia questioned, "Since it's the Taylor family's old house, why were you and your mother living there?" Olivia asked sharply.

Christopher frowned, looking down at Olivia's pale face, and said in a low voice, "I've lived in the Taylor family's old house since I was born. I've never met my father. My mother only told me that I'm a descendant of the Taylor family's fifth branch. It wasn't until I was twelve that I found out I was an illegitimate child."

Olivia continued, "When did your bad luck start?"

Christopher thought seriously and then said, "It seems like nothing has ever gone right since I can remember."

Everything he did went wrong.

Olivia propped her chin up and smirked, "It looks like the array was activated when your mother moved in while pregnant. You've been having your blood drawn all these years, which is why your health has been so poor."

Christopher clenched his hand slightly, forgetting that he was still holding Olivia's long hair, causing her pain.

Olivia turned her head and gave him a cold look. He quickly let go and apologized, "Sorry, I didn't mean to."

Christopher remembered her hairstyle from yesterday and picked up a hairpin from the table, placing it in her hair.

"Do you remember your sister?" Olivia asked.

Christopher nodded, "Yeah, I remember. She died when she was two."

Christopher added, "Because during those two years, my health improved significantly. After she died, I went back to being sickly."

Olivia's eyes were as cold as a winter pond. "Your little lucky star died in your place."

Christopher's pupils trembled, and he questioned, "What do you mean by that?"

Olivia explained, "She discovered the Bloody Magic Array first and let it consume her life force to save you. Otherwise, you would have died long ago."

The Bloody Magic Array was targeting Christopher. An ordinary person wouldn't have survived under its torment.

Olivia said, "Those bones carried a lot of resentment; otherwise, the Bloody Magic Array wouldn't have lasted so long. Their deaths must have been tragic."

Olivia scattered some ancient coins, looked at the prophecy, and thought for a moment. There was still time.

Olivia put away the coins and said to Christopher, "Have your mother come over. It's important."

Christopher nodded and immediately called Cleo.

Cleo had planned to bring something for Christopher anyway.

When she arrived, she took a box and a bank card from her bag and handed them to Olivia, "Thank you for saving Christopher."

Olivia waved her hand, "I don't need these. I called you here because I have something important to tell you."

Olivia spoke seriously, "Your family's situation is very complicated. According to my prophecy, someone has been targeting you for a long time. First, they took your son's fate, then caused the little lucky star's death. Without her protection, they lured you into that house to take all your family's fortune."

It sounded serious, and Christopher couldn't help but ask, "What's so special about my fate that someone would want to steal it?"

Olivia looked at Christopher, "It's a very good fate. Everything you do would go smoothly, you'd be wealthy, have a happy family, and live a long life. Such a fate is rare, and combined with your family's blessings over generations, it's very tempting for some people and spirits."

Christopher leaned in and asked boldly, "Even for vampires?"

"Don't mess with me, or I'll drain you dry," Olivia said coldly.

Christopher's hair stood on end.

Christopher said, "The person harming you must know some witchcraft. Whether they're self-taught or something else, I can't say for sure. So I'll just tell you the solution."

Cleo nodded, "Please, go ahead. I'm ready."

Olivia said, "First, I need to stay with him for now. That way, he won't be too unlucky and lose his life."

"Second," Olivia stared at Cleo and said slowly, "You must get pregnant before the end of this year."

Cleo's eyes widened.

Christopher choked and coughed, and Cleo was stunned, staring at Olivia, unsure how to respond.

After catching his breath, Christopher asked anxiously, "Why does my mom need to get pregnant? I'm already twenty. Another sibling? That's too weird, and my mom is over forty. It's dangerous."

Olivia said calmly, "The little lucky star's soul hasn't disappeared. If she's born, she'll protect you. Also, when she died at two, she left part of her soul with you."

Olivia's gaze fell on Christopher.

Christopher was stunned.

For a moment, his emotions were complicated.
