Chapter 10 They Weren't Hers

"YOU'VE been here since this morning. What's wrong, dude?" Lucian's friend, Lukas asked and tapped his shoulder.

The sharp sound of the clacking balls through the billiard hall didn't distract Lucian from his mischievous thoughts about the walking temptation named Magdalena Mendoza. The not so loud rock music, hit of the bass and electric guitar, blending with the cold atmosphere and the scent of beers didn't help at all.

"Woah!" Cadence, another friend, stood beside Lucian, looking at the ball he failed to shoot. "That's your third miss for today. What's wrong, dude?"

Lucian clenched his teeth. "Damn!"

Niccolo chuckled. "You've gone rusty. Lucian the Sniper no more?"

Lucian hissed and threw him a cold glare. "Shut up!"

"And you're really pissed," Lukas added.

"Is it about your dad again?"

Lucian sat on the side of the billiard table. "Seems like it."

"Man!" Cadence laughed. "He was never your problem. Even if he ground you for three months, you won't even bat an eye. So, I don't think it's about him."

"Do you know me that well?" Lucian hissed. "Are you my mother?"

His three friends laughed together. Lucian just frowned and leaned on his cue stick again. He tried and failed again. Damn!

Niccolo handed him a bottle of beer. "Just drink it up, dude."

"I think it's about a girl?" Lukas concluded, laughing. "Did you finally fall for someone and she rejected you?"

Lucian laughed as an arrogant grin curved on his lips. "No woman can."

"Oh shit! He's still cocky!"

Lucian smirked again and drank his beer. His teeth gritted, remembering the very first woman who rejected his charm. Damn! Magdalena Mendoza is something. She chose his father over him? Another damn!

She's making him so crazy. He could still feel her soft skin against his. Her sweet lips. Her touch. Her wetness. Her freaking moans. Everything about her lingered under his skin, his blood, and even in the depths of his sanity.

Her expression this morning still haunted him. How she tried so hard to defend her dignity against his father, but still failed. Her soulless eyes. Her fragile look. He could see through her, and it's damn bad because he doesn't only want to own her, but to save her.

"Lucian!" A girl, sexy, daring, and beautiful clung to his neck and pressed a kiss on his lips.

Before Magdalena, one kiss from any woman could turn him on. But now, it's gone. The excitement, the thrill. All he could ever think was Magdalena Mendoza and why it feels like he's cheating on her when this girl kissed him.

The lips tasted sweet, but not as sweet as Magdalena's. Her lips looked sexy, but it's not Magdalena's. Damn!

Lucian pushed the girl away, annoyed. "I'm not in the mood, Nichole."

The girl looked shocked. "W-What?"

"You heard me." Lucian's voice was cold and sharp, shocking not only Nichole but also his friends.

Nichole chuckled nervously. It's like she feels that her relationship is close to ending. "Then, let's have some fun to get you in the mood."

"I'm having fun."

"Not that fun, babe. What about we drink and you know...do something naughty?" Nichole pouted and wrapped her arms around his waist. Lucian missed again, and it made him even more pissed.

"Cut the crap!" Lucian angrily shoved Nichole away.

"Dude, that's enough." It was Lukas who felt the tension and Lucian's annoyance.

"What's wrong with you?" Nichole burst out. "Last week we even had dinner. But now...you feel so far away."

Lucian shot her cold glares, and she was taken aback. "Stop clinging to me, Nichole. I told you I'm not in the mood. Find someone to hook up with. I won't fck you tonight."

Nichole gasped and slapped him. Her eyes welled with tears. "You're a jerk! I thought we had something deeper!"

Lucian smirked. "Deeper? What kind of deep, Nichole? My dck deep inside you?"

"Lucian, stop it." Niccolo butt in. "You too, Nichole."

"Fck you, Lucian!" Nichole screamed and grabbed the billiard ball. She slammed it on Lucian's face, causing gasps and reactions from Lucian's friends and the people around.

"Damn it, Nichole!" Cadence grabbed the girl's wrist and dragged her outside.

Lucian saw droplets of blood on the floor. He lifted his arm and touched his left brow. Damn it's bleeding.

"What the hell, man?" Niccolo handed him a paper towel.

Lucian hissed and wiped the blood with the back of his hand. "I'm fine."

"No, you're not." It was Lukas. "You never get so worked up in anything. This is the first time."

Lucian felt that there's nothing he can do here to calm down. He angrily shove the cue stick on the table and grabbed his phone and car keys.

"Where are you going?" Lukas asked.

"Home."

Lucian walked towards the exit and ran into Cadence. "Lucian, where are you going?"

Cadence followed him to the car park.

"I'm going home," Lucian answered coldly.

"Home?" Cadence groaned. "Already? It's too early. Let's play some more."

Lucian waved his hand and slipped himself to the driver seat. He started the engine and drove home. His left brow stings, but he ignored it. His hands were gripping the steering wheel tight as he almost made the car fly. When he arrived home, he pressed the horn so hard. The security almost tripped opening the gate, but he didn't care. He parked the car in the bermuda garden his father was taking care of before he made his way to the pool area.

Maybe he could calm himself by swimming.

He threw his phone and keys on the sun lounger and dove into the pool water, not even bothering removing all his clothes.

The coldness of the pool water enveloped his body like a comforting blanket. He floated. His face buried underwater as he stared at the deep surface, dark and dangerous.

He wants to steal Magdalena away. Damn! He's so doomed.

He remained floating until he suddenly heard water splashing, and the next thing he knew, a gentle and trembling hand grabbed his collar and forced him out of the water. His lips parted when he came face to face with the woman who has been terrorizing and monopolizing his mind.

Her nose was red. Her lips were quivering. And her eyes. Her eyes were scared and crying.

"Magdalena..."
