Chapter 4 Chapter 4:

Enrique:

The sight was gruesome; blood splattered everywhere, rumbles of rain slided down my hair, tiny sparse raindrops flashed down my face, but that was the least of my concerns.

My heart thundered as I watched the man who used to be my friend plunge the dagger deep into my sister's body and yet I was unable to do anything. I felt weak and useless.

"Stop!" Was the only rough echo that resounded around, my eyes was a burning rage of fire. Annoyance, anger, betrayal flickered through my crimson red eyes.

"You said you were going to protect her, but you didn't." He laughed, his voice dark as hell.

“You are never a step ahead.” He stared at me, blood stains on his shirt, I watched as he wiped his face with the layer of his sleeve and anger consumed me the most. I watched as my sister slowly dropped dead to the floor, coughing out blood, I ran towards her, calling her name frantically.

"Anna. Wake up, please." My voice was pleading as I held her cold body into my arms, the rain splattered on both our bodies, but I didn't care. I wanted her back, but her eyes were firmly shut and her body cold.

I was too late. The thought fired through my chest, bitterness replaced my anger as I stood up from the ground.

“How dare you kill my sister? I am sure to kill you too,” I looked up from where I was, clutching the poisonous dagger in my hand, “Let’s end this, Dante. Once and for all.”

--

And then, I wake up, sweat clings around my hair, the room is suffocating so I grip the duvet hard while trying to calm my hard breathing. A sigh escapes my lips as I take the pills on the bedside table and shove it hurriedly into my mouth.

The dream has been haunting me for the past few years, never quite leaving my memory, she was my younger sister, when she died. I became numb; life had no meaning without her by my side.

She was young and innocent, always smiling, but that fucking bastard had the guts to kill my sister. She loved him and yet he killed her.

I stare outside the window and notice the bright sky clouding over the sun, I throw the covers away before getting up and heading towards the bathroom.

Later on, I head downstairs for breakfast, taking my seat at the center chair, I watch as the door swings open and my queen walks in wearing the exact same clothes I took time to purchase.

That’s what I want from her; I want her to obey me. The cotton silky night robe stopping below her mid-thigh exposes the curves I was talking about. If she’s going to be staying with me as my queen, then she will wear exactly what I want her to wear and show off those mouth watering curves.

She takes a seat, still seething.

“Aren’t you going to greet your king?” I ask her with a brow raised and she shoots me a hard glare, I never for once expected the Costa daughter to be feisty, my playful attitude washes away and I frown at her.

“I suggest you learn how to speak to me like a proper king, if you want your stay here to be stress-free, I am not your typical gentleman.” She remains quiet and I must say, something about her intrigues me. I need her for my revenge; she’s the secret key to my problems.

Dante has been slaying packs after he killed my younger sister. The bastard thinks he’s so lucky after he took away the one that mattered most in my life, I have to end him, to stop this ruthless game he has been playing with me for a long time.

But Dante is a Primordial wolf; it would take more than a dagger dipped in Wolfsbane to end him. And, there’s only one person who can kill him: A woman. A prophecy was said years ago that only one woman will be able to kill a Primordial wolf.

The seer has confirmed that the woman will come from the Costa's household and when her father offered me marriage to one of his daughters, I jumped at the offer, but I have no idea which Costa daughter is the chosen one.

I need to act fast, time is running out. Dante is a step ahead, destroying people as he moves from one pack to another.

I snap my eyes back to the woman beside me who hasn’t even touched her food yet. “Let us discuss about my heirs.”

She looks up at me hurriedly, her forest-green eyes widening, “I don’t want to bear you heir.” Her voice is rather sharp, cutting through me hard.

“It’s not a choice, princess, why then am I getting married to you?”

Her eyes are blazing with fire, the other Costa daughter had a more calm expression in her eyes, I should have taken her, this woman won’t even keep her mouth shut.

“I will never bow to you.” Irene says in anger and I scoff.

Standing up from the chair, I yank her up easily, her eyes widen as I drag her down the hall.

“What are you doing?” She asks, fear evident in her tone. She should have thought of the consequences before running her mouth. When I reach my bedroom, I throw her inside.

She claws on the bed and I tower over her, “Do you know how many women have come to this pack-house running their mouths at me?” For the first time, she looks terrified. Poor thing, I will never hurt her, the possibility of ending Dante lies within her.

“What happened?” She gulps down nothing and I smirk.

“You rather not know, princess. So, I'd rather you don’t cause trouble with me, just be on my good side and then you are good to go.”

“I still don’t want to bear your heir.” She repeats, I don’t think this woman gets my point.

“You aren’t the only woman, Irene. I have countless women bowing at my feet; you are just one of many.” She mumbles something under her breath and I scoff even more. “Don’t think you are entitled to privileges here. No woman ever draws my attention.” I bark at her.

“You will bear my child, princess. That was the agreement of our alliance and if you don’t, you can kiss the promises I made to your father goodbye.”

Fear washes over her green eyes. “What? No, you can’t do that.” Her body is trembling and I don’t remember the last time I dealt with emotions, only when my sister died.

“Then stick to the agreement, you have until tonight to decide whether you want to bear my heir or not.” I turn my back away from her, before walking out of the room, leaving her in a daze of confusion.

The seer is arriving today, and I need all the information I can get, I have to stop Dante once and for all. I get to my office and see my Beta, Tyler staring at me.

“Can she be the one?” He asks, referring to Irene. I am putting all my fate in this, if she isn’t the one, I will just go back to her father’s pack and grab the youngest daughter.

“I just hope so.” I take a seat on my office chair, waiting patiently for the seer. There’s a knock on the door and we watch as the seer walks in, a middle-aged man with graying hair, and a polite smile on his face.

“Alpha.” He bows as he takes a seat opposite me. Tyler stands at the door patiently.

“Have you consulted the moon goddess yet? What did she say?” I sound urgent, my voice needy. Revenge is what runs in my cold blood and if avenging my late sister's death is what I must do, then I will do it.

“The moon goddess has clearly told me that the only person that can kill Dante of Mystic river pack will be a woman from the Costa daughters.”

“But, who is it? Clearly, he has three daughters.” I ask impatiently.

He leans in and whispers, my heart thunders loudly in my chest as I await his next words. “The moon goddess has chosen Irene Costa as the only person that can kill Alpha Dante.”
