Falling in Love with My Brother's Best Friend

"Is this him? Mr Lucas Houston? Wow, he's so handsome" I heard a particular worker at Logisticscare forum where I worked as a volunteer for the upcoming program said as my heart suddenly shook.

That name! I thought as I stopped what I was doing abruptly while my heart raced.

"Of course and I heard that he's coming today. I can't wait to see him at today's special program."

"I look forward to seeing him also. Hopefully, he can notice me also!" I watched as another volunteer squealed while my heart raced the more. I couldn't believe that I was going to meet with him again after what had happened in the past. The same past I tried to hard to bury because it did not seem easy for me.

Now that he was back, how on earth would I be able to face him? I thought as sweat filled up my palms which indicated that I was worried.

With my heartbeat racing extra, I thought of what had happened in the past as I was filled with terror.

I had met Lucas back then through my brother and fell in love with him at first sight. He seemed so nice to me and I thought he was probably in love with me.

However, I didn't realize that I was just the fool alone in love because the moment I thought of giving up my dreams just to be with the man I loved, he had rejected me so soon making me feel embarrassed and caused me to despise him the more.

Not too long after, he travelled out of the country and now, he was back as one of the wealthiest man in the city? I thought as my heart raced which made me wonder if I was still in love with him.

Few minutes after, a young man dorned in a black tuxedo suit on black shoes walked in stylishly exhibiting an aura of handsomeness and warmness.

His styled permed tinted hair made him look like a playboy as every eyes were domed on him in the conference hall.

My eyes could not take after the fact that this was Lucas Houston, the same man who had made my heart beat in the past.

"Oh my! He's so handsome!"

"I can't believe that I am seeing Lucas Houston at a very closer glance" Some volunteers squealed while my heart would not stop racing. I hoped he wouldn't recognize me.

However, just as we were about to start, someone tapped my shoulders while I turned around, tensed. For a moment,

I seemed nervous.

"Anna? Please make sure Lucas Houston doesn't encounter any problems and also give him whatever he wants" The volunteer head said while I my heart accelerated the more. I could not risk he seeing me.

"I'm sorry but I can't do that." I said almost immediately.

"You probably don't need to get paid since you want it the hard way" He said while I gasped in shock. To think that I would be denied my pay if I did not entertain Lucas made me furious but I knew I couldn't refuse.

In the end, I found myself walking towards the man who made my heart beat in the past and was undeniably doing the same right now with the more strides I took towards him.

"Anna?" He whispered slightly the moment he saw me while I pretended not to hear him as I tried to maintain my posture.

"Mr Lucas, if there is anything you need, I am right behind you."

"Has your brother finally cut ties with you? Is that why you are a volunteer? It doesn't even suit you" He said and smiled.

After everything, I wondered if he didn't seem broken that he rejected me in the past, making me feel an empty void for a very long time but who was I kidding?

I pretended not to hear him while he looked at me and laughed shortly.

"Come to think of it, he really adored you so much that he wouldn't let you touch a pin. Now, you are volunteering for…. Me" He said while I scoffed slightly, silently roasting in anger.

However, throughout the activity, it was hard not to take note of the fact that Lucas had gotten more handsome and he seemed too outspoken now. Could he perphas have a girlfriend?

I thought and somehow, I cringed at that thought.

In the end, I was done and hurriedly left the venue because I was definitely sure that Lucas would definitely want to have more conversation in which I wasn't ready for.

Standing under a shield, I stood across the road as I watched the busy road filled with business cars as rain poured out in droplets with no single taxi in sight.

Trying to flag down a cab, it sped pass me while I exhaled out. I was tired and needed to have a change of cloth as soon as possible.

However, just as I was about to give up, a BMW suddenly appeared out of nowhere and with the windscreen opened, I was met with Lucas again.

"Care for a ride?"

He asked and flashed a smile while I looked away, pretending it was not necessary even though I badly wanted a change of clothes.

"It won't hurt you if you take a ride with me. Now that I think about it, this rain wouldn't stop anytime soon" He said while I reluctantly nodded.

It wouldn't but I didn't want to take a ride with him.

"Fine!" I said reluctantly when it seemed like he was being too persistent.

However, I found the man I was once in love with lean towards me almost immediately, making his lips slightly above mine while my heart raced.

He wants to kiss me! I thought as I found him leaning the more and almost immediately, I had my eyes closed and pushed my lips forward in anticipation.
