Accept the rules of the game

After quickly washing up, Hazel left the room and turned the corner of the stairs, where she saw Jack sitting on the single sofa in the living room. From her current position, she could see his handsome profile, perfect and exuding the air of nobility. They had been married for three days, and this was the first time she had seen him since the wedding. On their wedding say, he only had the family driver take her to this villa, and she had no idea where he went. Today was supposed to be the day she returned home, and her father had called several time the day before, urging her to come back with Jack. She didn’t know where he was or if he would show up, but she promised to try her best. She didn’t expect him to come back today.

She should have felt at ease, but now, looking at his distant profile, she suddenly felt a bit uneasy. She hesitated, biting her lip and racking her brain for what to say later. Just then, Jack turned his head, his black eyes staring at her with a hint of smile on his lips

Hazel took a deep breathe, clenched her fists, and slowly descended the stairs. “You...you’re back?” She tried to sound relaxed, but her tone was still dry.

Jack lifted his eyelids. “Why, not happy to see me?”

“How could that be? After all this is your home.”

A faint smiled flashed in his eyes, but he quickly turned cold again, a hint of mockery on his lips. Hazel felt helpless and sighed silently in her heart.

This man was the most famous diamond bachelor in A city, the third son of the Aiden family, and the most beloved grandson of old master Aiden. Jack Aiden not only had a good family background, but also outstanding abilities. Since taking over the Aiden family Enterprise, the Aiden group had undergone earth-shattering changes under his leadership. Because of his family background and almost impeccable handsome appearance, many women regarded him as the man they most wanted to marry in their lifetime.

And yet this man, who had his heart set on her, and whom she did not love, had become her husband.

Are they a couple?

There was no romantic proposal, no flowers or diamond ring, and no guests or wedding ceremony. There were only two red marriage certificates, which declared the fact that she was married.

A week ago, she returned from studying abroad and coincidentally celebrated her 22nd birthday, which her father hosted a party for. That night, she had only had a few drinks and woke up to find herself in the same bed as Jack Aiden.

She didn’t fully understand what had happened or where things went wrong. The photo of her and Jack leaving the hotel was sent to the Aiden family by someone with malicious intent. As a result, Jack’s grandfather demanded that she marry Jack.

She didn’t want to, but seeing her father’s worried face and knowing that the family business was her mother’s legacy, she reluctantly agreed. This caused Jack to hate her, as his former attention for her was overshadowed by her taking the place of his beloved.

The dream that she had been having lately was only partially true. As for the rest, she didn’t know why she was dreaming of such scenes. Was it a sign of her future life?

Even though life would be difficult, since she chose to marry into the Aiden family, there was no tuning back. Jack’s grandfather’s only requirement was that she and Jack could not divorce.

“Today..” She hesitated for a moment, quickly glanced at Jack’s expression, and then gathered the courage to continue, “I think it’s time for me to....”

Before she could finish her sentence, Jack threw a file bag that had been by his side onto the coffee table with a loud “smack”.

“Take a look at the conditions, if you’re satisfied sign it”

Hazel was stunned. “What is this?”

Jack didn’t answer and showed sign of impatience. He didn’t even look at her and took out a cigarette from his case to light up. Hazel stopped talking and bent down to open the file bag.

She couldn’t help but stare at the title, even though there were only two pages of A4 paper inside.

Marriage Agreement?

She looked at Jack in confusion, then continued to read the contents on the paper. His demand were not many, but they were detailed. He required her to not do anything that would harm him or the Aiden family during the marriage, not to interfere with his personal freedom, not to object to his behavior, and not to tell others that she was his wife. After the divorce, he would compensate her with thirty million dollars and three properties under his name. And this period would only last for one year. After the divorce, he and she would have nothing to do with each other.

At the end, there was his powerful signature.

“This....” She swallowed her saliva, surprised and moved at the same time. “Are you serious?” Only one year of marriage before divorce?

Jack asked in response, “What do you think?”

“But, my grandfather said...”

Before she could finish, he interrupted her, “if it weren’t for my grandfather, do you think I would marry you? Hazel , one year is already my limit.”

After speaking, he took a puff of smoke and exhaled it slowly. The smoke surrounded his perfect face, blurring it. Though the smoke, he looked at her with a cold and distant gaze, mixed with a hint of disgust that he couldn’t hide.

Hazel skipped a beat, and then she forced a bitter smile and nodded “I understand”

If she hadn’t appeared in his room that day, the one who would marry him would be Ashley. Even if it wasn’t now, they would still get married eventually, but it would never be her.

What kind of feeling was it to marry someone you didn’t love? She knew it well.

She had grievances, but who could she blame? She could only blame fate for playing such a joke on her. It was her mistake to enter is room, and he hated her for it. She could understand and wouldn’t blame him.

“You understand, that’s good,” he sneered with a hint of mockery on his lips “Hazel don’t think that marrying me means you can have a worry-free life. Since your brooks family has the courage to do what they did, you should understand that the game has begun and you must accept the rules unconditionally.”

“...”

she knew how much he despised her now, especially given the current situation of the brook family. It was really hard not to think that everything was her scheming.

“Have you made up your mind? If you have, then sign,” he looked at her with a sharp and piercing gaze, his words filled with impatience. “If you haven’t, I can give you a minute to think, but there is absolutely no such thing as ′ not wanting to’. Do you understand?”
