Chapter 4 Be My Girl Friend
Vincent’s POV
Several cops rushed over and tackled me to the ground without a word.
To stop me from struggling, they even slapped handcuffs on me.
The police scanned the thugs sprawled all over the ground and asked the young woman I had just saved, “Were you the one who called us?”
“Yes,” she replied, her voice suddenly choking with emotion as she softly said, “Thank you for getting here so quickly.”
The cop looked at her, then at the thugs on the ground, and asked in disbelief, “Did you take all these guys down?”
“No,” she said, finally glancing at me. With just one look, she put on a scared expression and explained to the police, “He did it.”
“So, you’re saying he saved you?”
“Yes,” the woman answered, then added with a sob, “But after he saved me, he harassed me!”
Right in front of me, she lied so calmly without even blinking. I raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
Just moments ago, when facing that gang of thugs, she had acted the same way—pretending to be terrified while quietly untying herself and grabbing a scalpel.
This woman… she’s really something.
“That’s not how it happened,” I snapped out of my thoughts and explained to the police, “I didn’t mean to harass her, it was just…”
“No thug ever admits they’re a thug,” the cop cut me off. “Save your story for the station!”
Today wasn’t so boring after all.
As the head of the Simth family, since I became an adult, women have been throwing themselves at me almost every day.
It’s always the women trying to take advantage of me, even hoping for something to happen between us.
But today, a woman actually screamed that I harassed her, that I tried to take advantage of her!
What’s funny is, just ten minutes ago, I had saved her life!
What an ungrateful little brat.
Half an hour later, we were taken to the police station and separated for questioning.
The cop asked me why I harassed Nydia.
“So her name’s Nydia,” I muttered, repeating it to myself.
“Be serious! You’re being questioned!” the cop barked sternly.
I shrugged and explained, “Sorry, officer, I didn’t harass Nydia. It was just a small accident.”
“An accident?” The cop didn’t buy it.
I told him, “She stepped into a sandpit and was about to fall. I tried to pull her up, but she dragged me down instead, and my hand just happened to land on her chest. I moved it away right after—I didn’t even feel her cup size.”
“Does that count as harassment?”
But the cops didn’t believe it was such a coincidence. They all agreed I was making excuses to get myself off the hook.
“Ugh,” I leaned back lazily, crossing my legs. “This is annoying. Get Chief Conrad to come see me.”
“You know our chief?”
I smirked and kindly reminded them, “I’m Vincent Simth.”
The cops in front of me instantly changed their expressions. “You’re the current head of the Simth family?”
I didn’t bother answering.
Less than five minutes later, Conrad came and personally escorted me out of the interrogation room.
He kept bowing and apologizing along the way. “I’m so sorry, Mr. Vincent. My team messed up and misunderstood…”
“When is she getting out?” I interrupted.
Conrad froze for a second, then quickly caught on and said, “Don’t worry, right away! I’ll arrange it now!”
I nodded slightly. “Go ahead.”
Conrad flashed a flattering smile and went to bring Nydia out himself.
She probably didn’t expect me to be waiting for her. The moment she saw me, her eyes widened in shock. “You! How did you get out?”
Conrad was about to introduce my identity, but I shot him a look that shut him up.
I walked over, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her toward the exit.
“Let go of me!” she yelled.
I didn’t stop, turning back with a teasing smirk. “Gonna have the cops arrest me again?”
She immediately went silent.
I was pretty satisfied with her reaction. I dragged her all the way outside the station before pinning her against the wall, towering over her.
“I’m warning you, don’t mess around!” She actually dared to threaten me first. “I’m not someone to mess with!”
“Oh, I’m curious just how tough you are,” I said with a grin, leaning closer.
When I noticed her trying to sneakily make a move, I quickly and firmly grabbed her hand.
She couldn’t pull away. After a few tries, she glared at me with red, angry eyes.
I laughed, amused. “Why isn’t the little kitten scratching anymore?”
“What do you want!” she snapped fiercely.
“Why so feisty?” I teased, pinching her palm, which made her glare at me even harder. I chuckled softly. “I just want to ask the little kitten why, after I beat up those bad guys for her, she turned around and stabbed me in the back?”
“Because I’m an ungrateful bad woman!” she shot back, not even trying to hide it. “I didn’t ask you to save me. You brought this on yourself!”
Her ingratitude made me laugh in frustration. “First time I’ve seen someone admit to being a backstabber so openly.”
“Then you should thank me for broadening your horizons,” she quipped without missing a beat.
“Sure,” I countered, not backing down. “To thank you, I’m willing to offer myself to you.”
“That’s just returning evil for good.”
“Learned it from you.”
“Don’t forget to pay the tuition.”
“I’ve got no money, but I can offer myself instead,” I said calmly, steering the conversation back.
Nydia was so mad she couldn’t take it anymore. “Are you ever gonna stop?”
“If you’re willing to cooperate and help me out, I think this boring conversation can end pretty quick,” I said.
She took a deep breath, clearly trying to hold back her anger. “Fine, say what you want.”
I’ve gotta say, her looks and her personality are complete opposites.
She looks sweet and delicate, but her temper is like a firecracker—quick to explode.
“I saved you, and you didn’t thank me. Fine, I won’t hold it against you. Let’s just say I stuck my nose where it didn’t belong. But you accusing me? How are you gonna make up for that?”
“Hah,” she raised an eyebrow mockingly. “I’m already a bad woman. I’ve got no shame. Why would I make it up to you?”
Man, I love this side of her so much. My heart was racing, and my blood felt like it was rushing faster.
My chest felt hot, and even my breath seemed to burn.
“Funny thing,” my voice trembled a bit, “I’m the type who holds grudges. If you don’t make it up to me, I guess you’ll just have to be my girlfriend.”
Nydia scoffed. “I’m a forensic doctor. If I’m your girlfriend, I might dissect you in the middle of the night.”
“To be dissected by my darling…I bet that’d feel amazing.”
Her expression finally shifted. She looked at me, annoyed, and cursed, “You’re insane!”
I leaned in, nibbling her earlobe, and whispered with a laugh, “So, two crazy people like us should be together, right?”
