Chapter 1

Fahmeen saß dort, die blauen Lichter über ihrem Kopf. Klassenkameraden neben ihr, Fremde vor ihr. Die Schauspieler waren mit ihrer Arbeit beschäftigt, während das Publikum eintrat, bis auf einen. Ein Mann mit blondem Haar schaute sie an. Unter seinem Blick fühlte sie sich unglaublich nervös. Schnell schaute sie weg und versuchte, sich auf das Stück vor ihr zu konzentrieren.

Doch er war unerbittlich. Er wollte, dass sie ihn ansah. Ein kurzer Blick. Er trug legere Kleidung, hatte sein Haar zurückgebunden und sah ein paar Jahre älter aus. Zu beiden Seiten von ihm saßen weitere ältere Männer, die alle lachten und das Stück genossen, außer ihm. Er hielt seine Aufmerksamkeit weiterhin auf das eine dunkelhaarige Mädchen inmitten der Menge gerichtet.

Ihre Hände hielten sich fest auf ihrem Schoß, um die Schmetterlinge in ihrem Bauch zu beruhigen. Der Stoff ihres Kleides war nicht mehr kühl, da ihre Körpertemperatur stieg. Jeder war sich dieses Austauschs nicht bewusst. Dieser neugierige, gefährliche Austausch zwischen den unwahrscheinlichsten Fremden. Sie war nicht an Aufmerksamkeit von Männern wie ihm gewöhnt. Aber er schenkte sie ihr und sie hatte keine Ahnung, was sie damit anfangen sollte.

Sie konnte Der Sturm nicht mehr genießen, da ihr Geist vollständig von ihm eingenommen war. Sie beobachtete, wie er sich zu der Person neben ihm lehnte und etwas sagte, schnell in ihre Richtung blickend. Sofort schaute sie weg, aber sie spürte ihren Blick. Sie wollte sich verstecken, unwohl unter ihrer Beobachtung. Die blauen Lichter fühlten sich jetzt entblößend an, als würden sie ihren Standort verraten.

"Die Typen sind heiß." sagte Georgia neben ihr. Sie hatte weiches braunes, langes Haar und blaue Augen. Sie waren enge Freundinnen.

"Sie sind so unangenehm, sie schauen ständig."

"Ach wirklich?" Georgias Augen leuchteten auf und sie richtete ihr Haar, setzte sich auf, um eine bessere Sicht zu bekommen. Fahmeen lächelte und schüttelte den Kopf. "Ja. Besonders der Blonde."

"Oh, der? Nein, schau dir den neben ihm an." sagte Georgia, aber Fahmeen wollte nicht. Nur er hatte ihr Interesse geweckt. Sie biss sich auf die Lippe und versuchte, sich wieder auf das Stück zu konzentrieren.

Es war die Pause, einige Zuschauer standen auf, um sich die Beine zu vertreten und die Toiletten aufzusuchen.

"Wenn sie nur Essen hätten. Ich habe so einen Hunger." stöhnte Georgia, Fahmeen lächelte.

"Ich auch." Es war wirklich schade, das Stück dauerte über drei Stunden und es gab keine Erfrischungen. Unauffällig schaute sie über den Boden und beobachtete, wie ihr Bewunderer mit seinen Freunden aufstand. Sie konnte sein Outfit jetzt klarer sehen und er stand in voller Größe. Okay, er war definitiv älter als sie.

Er trug ein schlichtes weißes T-Shirt und schwarze Jeans, und es war Winter, also hatte er eine toffeefarbene Bomberjacke an. Näher und näher kam er, da der Ausgang hinter ihr war. Sie blieb sitzen, die Vorstellung, sich mit Fremden zu mischen, war äußerst abschreckend, also konnte ihre Blase es noch aushalten. Seine Stimme war jetzt in Reichweite, sie war tief und er sprach klar und selbstbewusst. Sein Akzent war fremd, Amerikanisch!

Ihr Blick war auf ihr Handy gerichtet, während sie versuchte, sein bevorstehendes Vorbeigehen zu ignorieren. Sie hörte ihn sagen,

"Nein, ich mag es, ich bin nur auf etwas anderes fokussiert." Ihr Herz schlug laut in ihrer Brust, sie biss sich auf die Lippe und fühlte sich super nervös. Als sie sein tiefes, leises Lachen hinter sich hörte, seufzte sie und schaute endlich auf. Ihr Handy zeigte 20:35, noch eineinhalb Stunden zu gehen.

Als alle wieder ihre Plätze eingenommen hatten, begann das Stück erneut und der Raum wurde wieder dunkel. Sie entspannte sich in der Atmosphäre des Theaters und genoss den späten Abend mit ihren Kommilitonen aus der Englischen Literatur. Es gab etwas Aufregendes an späten Nächten im Winter. Die Taxifahrt dorthin war lustig gewesen, sie hatte geschwiegen und den frostigen Wind auf ihrem Gesicht genossen, während sie aus dem Fenster schaute und die anderen Studenten redeten.

Die Zeit verging und Der Sturm endete. Mit dem letzten Verbeugen war es Zeit zu gehen. Herr Granger (ihr Professor) stand auf und signalisierte ihren Aufbruch. Sie stand auf, ebenso wie ihre Klassenkameraden.

Sie warf einen Blick in Richtung des Fremden, und er schaute sie bereits an, während er selbst noch saß. Er lehnte sich vor, die Unterarme auf seinen Oberschenkeln, die Lichter erhellten nun sein Gesicht. Er sprach mit seinen Begleitern, während er den Fokus auf sie behielt. Sein Blick auf ihr war eigennützig, ohne Rücksicht darauf, ob sie es wollte oder nicht. Sie drehte sich um, bereit, der Reihe zu folgen, in der sie saß, und ging in Richtung der Ausgangstüren. Das rote Schild oben signalisierte, wohin sie gehen sollten, während der starke Zustrom von Menschen ruhig aus ihnen herausströmte.

Er ging auf den Hauptboden hinunter, in Richtung der Schauspieler, und schüttelte ein paar von ihnen die Hände. Sie konnte nicht verstehen, was gesagt wurde, und das Letzte, was sie sah, bevor sie das Theater verließ, waren seine geweiteten, enttäuschten Augen, die sie beobachteten, als sie ging.


Es war ein früher Start. Die Klasse war heute vollständig anwesend, ohne einen leeren Platz. Sie saß nahe am Ende mit Georgia hinter ihr. Herr Granger war spät dran. Nichts schien ungewöhnlich, aber dennoch fühlte sich heute etwas anders an.

Zehn Minuten später und immer noch kein Professor.

"Ich sage, er kommt nicht. Unterricht beendet!" sagte Joey und ging zur Tür hinaus. Er war immer der Erste. Eine Freistunde, aber sie hatten am Ende des Tages wieder Englisch, also was würde das bedeuten?

Sie verbrachte den Rest der Stunde an den Computern und den Rest des Tages in ihren anderen Unterrichtsstunden. Und die letzte Stunde kam. Sie dachte daran, sie zu schwänzen, aber als sie an der Tür vorbeiging, sah sie einen vollen Raum. Alle ihre Klassenkameraden waren da und schienen völlig interessiert an der Person zu sein, die vor ihnen stand. Sie mochte ihren Professor zwar, aber so interessant war er nie. Als sie die Tür langsam öffnete, machte sie ein quietschendes Geräusch, das alle dazu brachte, in ihre Richtung zu schauen.

"Entschuldigung, dass ich zu spät bin."

"Überhaupt nicht, nehmen Sie Platz." Eine vertraute, aber fremde Stimme sprach. Er stand mit dem Rücken zu ihr, trug ein weißes Hemd und hatte sein blondes Haar zurückgebunden. Schnell erkannte sie, wer die Aufmerksamkeit der Klasse auf sich gezogen hatte.

Sie konnte kaum glauben, dass er es war. Der Typ aus dem Theater war ihr Vertretungslehrer! Als sie zu ihrem Platz ging, drehte er sich um und als seine Augen auf sie fielen, erstarrte er kurz. Seine blassgrünen Augen weiteten sich leicht, und sie konnte eine leichte Röte an seinem Hals sehen.

"Äh, guten Nachmittag. Ich bin euer neuer Professor, ihr könnt mich Rolf nennen."
