Chapter 5

Nora ran away from the hospital, and this completely enraged the Adams family and James.

"I knew it. She would never willingly give me her kidney." On the hospital bed, Evelyn woke up, her voice choked with tears.

Every word she said told everyone that this was what Nora owed her.

When she first returned to the Adams family, Evelyn didn't agree to change her surname and continued to be called Evelyn Thomas.

She said that even though the Thomas family treated her badly, they at least raised her for twenty-one years.

What an ironic and stark contrast - Evelyn became the truly kind-hearted real heiress, while Nora was the vicious and lowly fake.

Actually, Evelyn was very smart. She kept this name to constantly provoke the Adams family, making them feel guilty all the time and compensate her without limits for what she missed in those twenty-plus years.

"Evelyn, don't cry. This is what she owes you." Aiden frowned and spoke with concern. "She can't escape!"

"Aiden." Evelyn cried and hugged Aiden. "I'm so scared. Now that Nora is out, will James stop wanting me?"

"Evelyn, what are you thinking? Nora completely embarrassed the Smith family in Emerald City back then and made James lose all his dignity. Do you think James would still want her?" Aiden comforted her and rubbed her head.

"But what if Nora talks nonsense? What if she tells James that back then it was us..." Evelyn looked at Aiden tentatively.

Back then, she and Aiden had set it up so that Nora spent the night in a strange man's room.

"Nobody knows who the man that slept with Nora was. Would anyone believe what Nora says? Don't worry, that little bastard is Nora's weakness. She won't dare talk nonsense." Aiden's eyes darkened. He really needed to warn Nora properly.

"It's really strange that Nora didn't actually sleep with the man we arranged. I wonder who that man was." For the past five years, Evelyn had been trying to find out, but there had been no results.

"Who it was doesn't matter. What matters is the result - her reputation is already ruined, and James is yours now." Aiden patted Evelyn's back. "Get some rest."

Evelyn nodded, the corners of her mouth turning up.

That bitch Nora took over her life for twenty-one years - why should she get James's love!

She was going to destroy her and make her pay back everything she owed!

Demolition area.

Nora wore a baseball cap she had found, nervously looked around, and hid in an alley.

"Nori!" A voice shouted excitedly and ran over.

"Nori, I went to pick you up yesterday. Where did you go?" Jasper looked at Nora anxiously, his eyes red and his voice choked. "Nori, you've suffered so much these five years."

Jasper knew that those people had wrongly accused Nora.

But at the trial five years ago, Nora had pleaded guilty to protect him and the child.

"Jasper." Nora leaned against the wall, her voice choked.

She had no family left, nothing at all.

Now, she only had Jasper and the child.

"It's okay now, it's okay. Now that you're out, we'll live a good life from now on." Jasper hugged Nora and patted her back. "Samuel is still at home waiting for us. The little guy is so smart - he knew early on that you were getting out of prison and dragged me to pick you up yesterday."

At the mention of the child, all of Nora's strength crumbled instantly, and she burst into tears in Jasper's arms.

Five years - she had lived five years of depressing life worse than death, and for the first time, she cried so freely.

Jasper sighed and let Nora cry.

He knew she must have suffered a lot in prison.

When she had cried herself tired, he patted her back. "Nori, let's go home."

Go home.

Did she still have a home?

Five years ago, Jasper told Nora that as long as he was there, there was home.

Thankfully, Jasper was still willing to accept her.

"Mommy!" At the end of the alley, a little child stood there with a sweet childlike voice, wearing clothes that were old but washed very clean.

In contrast, Jasper's clothes were patched and mended, and he wore a repair shop work uniform, covered in the smell of motor oil.

It was clear that although Jasper was poor, he had given the best of everything to the child.

"Samuel." Nora's voice trembled a bit. She stood nervously in place, rubbing her hands hard on her body. She was afraid she was dirty and would make the child dirty.

"Mommy." Samuel cried and ran toward Nora, burying himself in her arms. "Mommy, Uncle Jasper and I went to pick you up."

Nora hugged Samuel tightly, tears falling silently.

This was her precious baby.

"Mommy will never leave you again."

But even as she said these words, Nora herself didn't believe them.

After donating her kidney to Evelyn, how much longer could she live anyway?

"Nora, you're really here. What a touching mother-son reunion."

Behind her was James's cold and sarcastic voice.

Nora turned around in panic and fearfully shielded Samuel. "James, what do you want to do?"
