Já se passaram três dias desde que Adira se casou com Chadwick McElroy. Após três noites passando a lua de mel no Japão, Adira voltou para casa, agora como Sra. McElroy.
"Ahhhh. Meu corpo está tão cansado," ela gemeu, sentando-se na beirada da cama. E quando se deitou, seu longo e encaracolado cabelo ruivo se espalhou.
Vestindo suas roupas íntimas sexy por baixo do robe vermelho, os olhos verdes de Adira ficaram fixos no teto. Não há muito o que ver ali. Ela está apenas tentando aliviar a fadiga das longas horas de viagem de volta ao país.
"Ainda não consigo acreditar que sou uma mulher casada agora," ela murmurou, piscando os olhos, e seus longos cílios tremularam como asas de borboleta.
Não faz muito tempo que Adira concordou em se casar com o CEO da empresa Wine&Vibe. E agora, ela está dentro do quarto pensando em como a vida pode ser divertida. Ela ainda se lembra de beber sozinha em seu apartamento enquanto cantava uma música pop intitulada: "Eu Não Preciso de Um Homem." Um silêncio ensurdecedor varreu o espaço.

Quando ela inclinou a cabeça, viu seu reflexo no espelho da penteadeira.
Seu cabelo ruivo espalhado suavemente, combinando com seu rosto pequeno. Ela foi agraciada com uma aparência que poderia ser de realeza. Seus olhos esmeralda são afiados, mas por dentro têm o reflexo das águas de um lago. Seus lábios apertados, cor de rosa, parecem estar em um meio beijo. E seu corpo? Não chamariam de corpo de 'Coca-cola' sem motivo. Qualquer um que a visse sentada na cama com um robe, cabelo ruivo, decote à mostra e pernas tão brancas quanto marfim, a acharia extremamente atraente.
"Eu sou tão bonita," Adira disse a si mesma. Ela inclinou a cabeça e acrescentou, "E eu sou sexy também."
Ela só disse fatos. Mas ainda assim, está confusa. Como Chadwick recusou a chance de tirar sua virgindade durante a lua de mel?
Adira respirou fundo enquanto penteava seu cabelo ruivo para cima, dando-lhe um ar coquete, e então se lembrou do que aconteceu no dia do casamento:

O juiz olhou para o casal, ambos com uma expressão de desagrado, como se estivessem em um velório em vez de um casamento. Algo estava errado. O juiz podia perceber facilmente.
Ignorando a situação estranha, o juiz forçou uma tosse. Ele enxugou o suor da cabeça careca e ajustou os óculos antes de começar a cerimônia.
Enquanto o juiz falava, Adira olhou para o perfil de seu marido.
‘Pelo menos, ele é bonito,’ ela pensou antes de notar que ele estava olhando intensamente em uma certa direção.
Estreitando os olhos, Adira seguiu a direção para onde Chadwick estava olhando. De longe, ela viu uma mulher que sorria docemente para Chadwick enquanto acenava com a mão.
Depois de lembrar da mulher que viu durante o casamento, Adira confirmou a razão pela qual Chadwick a evitava.
“É por causa daquela mulher,” ela sussurrou.
Antes do casamento, Adira investigou seu futuro marido. Ela ouviu que Chadwick não namorava ninguém, mas tinha uma amiga por quem tinha sentimentos.
“Eu não me importo se ele gosta de outra pessoa,” Adira disse. “No entanto, realmente precisamos dormir em quartos diferentes?”
Se Chadwick continuar a evitá-la, Adira pensa que precisará usar outro método para alcançar seu objetivo. E esse é seduzir seu marido.
Sorrindo amplamente, Adira levantou-se da cama. Ela saiu do quarto e ficou ao lado do quarto do marido, que ficava no lado leste da casa.
