Chapter 55
Anila’s POV
A dream made me orgasm?!
My legs were still trembling from the ghost of Zach’s manhood inside of me and his fingers teasing me. I could still taste Harley in my mouth and my nipples were hard from Damien’s teasing. My body was a trembling mess while I reminded it that it was only a dream. None of that was real and I had to get a hold of myself.
I promised Damien that I would meet him this evening for our training session, and I refused to make things worse between us. Damien already told me the thought of me as a friend, he couldn’t know that I had a sex dream about him.
I thought about Damien’s research in the library the other day about shared dreams and my face flushed from the thought. What if this was another shared dream and the others also had the same memories as I did?
I buried myself in my bed, not wanting to get up. It was Saturday, and I should be relaxing for the evening. But nope… I had to practice my magic and prepare for the challenges that I knew nothing about.
But I couldn’t complain; I was having a lot more fun here than I did in my previous life. I just wished things weren’t so complicated. After arguing with myself for a little while, I finally found the strength to get out of bed and get dressed for the evening.
I had a headache and I tried to think about the events of last.
It wasn’t a surprise that Penny was still asleep. It was pretty early in the evening for a Saturday, and I had a feeling that Penny liked to sleep in.
I grabbed some Advil off the kitchen cabinet, thankful that Penny was prepared. Once I finished getting dressed and guzzling down a couple of glasses of water, I went to meet up with Damien. He told me to meet him at the front entrance of the school and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous. I wasn’t sure what to expect and a tight knot formed in the pit of my stomach when I saw his figure standing next to a Prius.
I arched a brow at him.
“Is this your car?” I asked, biting back a smile.
I wasn’t sure what I expected but it wasn’t a Prius. He stood straight when he saw me approaching and his eyes were showing indifference. It almost made me pause in my tracks and I thought again about the dream.
Was it shared? Did he know what I dreamt of last night?
After a moment, he cleared his throat and ran his fingers through his hair.
“Yeah, it’s mine,” he murmured. “Get in.”
“Where are we going?” I asked.
“Into the town,” he answered as he slid into the front seat of his car. I took a deep breath and quickly got into the passenger’s seat.
He appeared to be frozen as he sat and stared out the front window.
“Are you okay?” I found myself asking.
He shook his head like he was shaking away all the thoughts in his mind and then he forced an obvious fake smile as he put the car into the drive.
“Yeah; just didn’t sleep well,” he murmured, and my cheeks flushed from his words.
I stared down at my lap, twirling my fingers together nervously and unsure of what to say. Was that a shared dream? Were the same thoughts that coursed through my mind, coursing through Damien’s as well?
I felt sick at the thought of it and held my stomach like I was about to vomit.
“So, where are we going anyway?” I asked, trying desperately to think about anything other than the dream.
He looked relieved by the subject change, but his body was still tense.
“The magic shop,” he answered. “It’s time you got your first wand.”
Excitement pulsed through my veins as my eyes whipped in his direction.
“Seriously?” I asked, my smile only growing wider.
He nodded his head thoughtfully.
“Yes. It’ll be easier for you to do magic with a wand; it also makes your spells stronger,” he explained. “You’re going to want to practice with it before the challenges.”
“What exactly are these challenges going to consist of?” I asked.
“It’s designed to put your skillset to the test,” he answered. “Because you are so diverse, it’ll probably test you on everything. But it’s designed specifically for each individual.”
“Should I be worried?”
“Let’s just focus on your training for right now. I wouldn’t worry until the challenges approach,” he told me.
It was almost what Xaden said about it too and that bothered me. I wished I had known about these challenges a lot sooner, but I guess there wasn’t much I could do about it now.
It didn’t take long before we reached the witchery shop just inside the town near the campus. It was a small shop with different assorted crystals hanging on the window. When Damien pushed open the door, the door chime sounded in the small shop, getting the shop owner's attention.
“Welcome, my friend,” the old man said as he looked Damien over.
“Mr. Crawlsy,” Damien said, giving the man a warm smile. “It’s good to see you again.”
“Are you having more issues with your wand?” The man, Mr. Crawlsy, asked giving Damien a pointed look.
Damien only laughed; he had a nice laugh. I rarely heard it but when I did hear it, it made me smile in appreciation.
“No, that’s not the reason I’m here,” Damien assured him, patting the pouch his wand was stored in.
I noticed that he didn’t put his wand in its usual loop on his pants. Now it was in an enclosed pouch that hung off the side of these jeans. I wondered if that was because his wand kept getting away from him.
Now wasn’t the time to ask though.
“This is my friend, Anila. She’s getting her first wand today,” Damien said, placing his hand on my back and pushing me forward a little. “I expect you’ll take care of her?”
“Of course,” Mr. Crawlsy said as he fixed his eyes on me entirely. He studied me like I was a book, and I felt my face growing hot from his scrutiny.
I wasn’t really sure what to say, or if I should say anything. So, I remained silent, watching as Mr. Crawlsy circled around me, studying my every movement, my every feature, and my every flaw. I felt self-conscious and I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me whole.
“You have an interesting aura, my girl,” he said in a tone that was hard to read. I couldn’t tell if he was pleased by this, or if the idea of me having a strange aura frightened him. He pressed his lips together and tapped his chin with his finger like he was thinking very intently about something. “You are a shifter and a sorcerer. But there is more to you than that.”
“We aren’t here for a reading, Mr. Crawlsy,” Damien interrupted. “We just wanted to get a wand.”
Mr. Crawlsy acted as if he hadn’t heard Damien, and he kept his eyes on me.
“The Moon Goddess had chosen you,” he whispered, his brows pinching together as he spoke. “She makes no mistakes. You have been chosen to unite our nation and be the queen that we need. Stardust Valley will no longer live in fear.”
It was as if he was repeating the words being whispered to him and I wanted to ask him more questions about what I was supposed to do. I wanted to know if he knew anything about my family, or what I’m supposed to do with my mates. I wanted to know who was telling him this information. But before I could, Damien stepped closer to me and Mr. Crawly, as if he was about to jump in the middle of us.
“We really can’t stay much longer. We only have limited time to practice today, and we need all the time we can get,” Damien told him, keeping his voice low and gentle like he was talking to a child. But he was also firm and assertive, leaving no room for arguments.
As if he’s been in a trance, Mr. Crawlsy blinked a few times. He finally registered Damien's voice and as if he was now remembering that Damien was present, he cleared his throat and gave Damien a curt nod with an apologetic smile.
“I tend to get carried away sometimes,” he chuckled and then he took back at me. “Let’s get you that wand.”
He motioned for me to follow him toward a lit-up display case, and I gasped when I saw the amount of wands being stored in the case. They were all different sizes with different colored gems around their handles. Each wand was made of a different cut of wood and even their handles were different colors.
“I don’t know how to pick. They are all so beautiful,” I whispered, staring at the collection in awe.
“You don’t choose a wand,” Mr. Crawlsy snickered. “The wand chooses you.”
I snapped him a look, unsure of what he meant. But as if on cue, one of the wands in the case began to tremor and my eyes instantly found it against the back corner, hidden beneath another wand. The wand looked to be made of the same wood that Damiens’ wand was made of, and it was about the same size. It had a black handle with multiple colored chakra stones wedged into it. I gasped when I saw the colors of them. I recognized them instantly as the colors of my mate's eyes.
In order, from top to bottom, the colors of the crystals were forest green, ocean blue, honey yellow, sapphire blue, and…. Violet.
Violet? They looked like the color of my eyes during the last full moon.
“That one,” I said without hesitation.
Mr. Crawlsy followed my finger and his eyes lingered on that wand for some time with pinched brows.
“It seems that one is eager to meet you,” he pointed out.
He went to touch it, but before he could even get close to him, it zapped his outstretched fingers, making us all jump back in shock.
“How about if you try,” Mr. Crawlsy said as he rubbed his tender and aged fingers. With a racing heart, I walked around the case and toward the opening. The wand continued to tremble and for a second, I thought it was actually glowing as I neared it.
I reached my hand out, expecting it to zap me like it did Mr. Crawlsy. But it didn’t; it only pulsated like a heartbeat. I could feel it like it was my whole pulse.
Touched the bottom crystal and felt a pleasant tingle rushing through the palm of my hand. It wasn’t electricity, it was a welcoming.
Wrapping my fingers around the black handle, the pulsing intensified, and warmth spread from my fingers, down my arms, and across the rest of my body. Now I was certain the wand was glowing as I lifted it for them to see.
They both stared at me in amazement.
“I never seen a wand react like that before, “Mr. Crawlsy whispered.
Damien, who was awestruck at that moment, only nodded.
Then, he spoke in a tone that sounded like he was so far away at that moment.
“I guess we found her wand.”
