CHAPTER SIX

AURORA'S POV

I knew it was a long shot, but I had to leave the hospital as fast as I could. Better still, I had to leave to somewhere he couldn't find me. But that was just a wish, I really had nowhere to go and there was no way I was going to make Talia's parents mad by staying over at her house. So, I guess I'll just keep on avoiding him, its all I can do.

I went back to the bar the next day to work, though I still felt a bit weak but it wasn't going to stop me from getting money.

"Aurora!"

"Yeah?" I snap back to attention, Clara glares at me, her arms on her hips.

"Customers are waiting for you. I don't pay you to stand there and zone out. Is that clear?"

"Yes, I'm sorry, I just had a lot on my mind." I try to explain.

She rolls her eyes as she turns away.

"I don't care, just work."

"Fine." I mumble, like she would ever care.

I take a deep breath and head into the bar, a fake smile plastered on my face.

"Hello, what can I get you?"

The men paused their loud chattering as they gave me a glance over. My skin bristled from the slimy looks of lust in their eyes. It took everything in me not to turn away.

"Just some beer and maybe...you."

They burst into laughter at the joke.

"Alright, your beer will be right up."

I rushed out, on my way to get the beer.

Just as I placed the bottles of beer in front of them, I felt the place suddenly go quiet. I raised my head.

"Oh shit!" I cursed.

Lucien stood silently at the entrance to the bar, practically glaring at me. Of course I made no move to look at him. Immediately I was done with the men's table, I bolted, or at least I tried to.

"Aurora." He called me, I froze in my step.

I felt him approaching me, I wished I could just run but I had to stay. A large, broad body suddenly filled my vision. My breath hitched, I took a deep breath and could perceive his scent. Wood and spice, mixed with vanilla. Really? Why was I feeling this way. I was panicking until I felt his cold hands under my chin. He raised my face to meet his eyes. Silver eyes stared at me in accusation.

"Why?" He growled. "Why did you run?"

I opened my mouth but then I realized we were in the middle of the bar, everyone was staring.

"Let's go outside." I told him, he agreed with a nod.

I walked fast, stopping at the back of the bar while calming my racing heart.

"Why did you run away?"

Okay, straight to the point.

"Because I didn't want to bother you."

He frowned at that "What do you mean? We are mates, you are my mate. I don't care if you bother me."

"But I do "

"Why?"

"Because I'm not accepting you as my mate. I don't want you, okay." His eyes turned stormy and cold but I continued. "Why can't you just leave me alone. I'm asking nicely."

"I'll never leave you alone because you are mine." He growled, stepping closer.

I stared him straight in the eyes.

"Please, please reject me. Its best for the both of us."

He opened and closed his mouth a few times but said nothing. I took that as my cue to go.

"I'll take my leave now."

I was about to pass him when he held my hand, I looked at him, annoyed. His head was lowered.

"Wait."

"What?" I tried to pry my hand out but his hold was strong.

"Why do you hate me so much? I don't understand it. Shouldn't you be happy to have the next alpha as your mate?"

Genuine confusion was displayed on his face, looks like he has never been rejected before.

"That's the thing Lucian. I can't be mates with someone like you who is only a playboy. Who thinks he is a blessing to society and to weak people like me. You carry yourself so high that you forget that we are also humans. And do you think I will like to share my mate with other women? I know you practically have slept with almost all the ladies in the pack. What does that make you? A Casanova, playboy alpha. I don't want that. Goodbye."

I left him standing there alone, not bothering to turn my back.

"Aurora?" Clara stared at me weirdly once I got back in the bar.

"Yes?"

"Are you...okay?" She asked carefully, her eyes searching behind me as if to ask where he was.

"Yeah, I'm okay. I'm sorry for stepping out without telling you, I'll get back to work now."

"Oh no, no problem." She chuckled nervously, "Its okay, it was the future alpha that called you. You can continue."

"Thanks?" Why was she acting weird. I shrugged and stepped back in to serve a calling table.

"Hey, she just walked out with the future alpha and came back alone. What do you think happened?"

"Beats me, we could ask her you know."

I overheard snippets of conversation from the men. I sighed belatedly, I knew they were going to talk.

"Hey waitress."

"Yes, how may I help you."

The men glanced at each other.

"What's with you and him?"

"Who?" I pretended not to know.

"The future alpha..." He glanced around and whispered, "Lucian."

"Ah!" I nodded. "Nothing at all."

I turned to leave but felt a strong yank on my arm. I couldn't help wincing in pain.

"We know what we saw, there is no way its just nothing. Now speak, what's an Omega's business with the alpha."

I glared at them, my hate for them overwhelming. "None of your fucking business."

"How dare you?" One of them yelled and pushed over the table, its contents falling to the floor. My hand was being squeezed tighter.

"Stupid Omega!" He raised a hand about to hit my face, I closed my eyes tight.

"Stop!"

Slowly i opened my eyes, to look at his face.

"Huh?" I had no idea who this person was.
